Avoid like the plague. The food is average to bad(the Hot & Soup soup is neither hot nor sour — just a strong chicken broth flavor; the General Tso’s is sweet, sweet, sweet, not hot at all; and those are the best). Worst is how incompetent they are. The first time we ordered from them, they messed up and sent the wrong thing — but we ate it and lived with it. But we just ordered from them and we got our entrees but NORICE! And we had paid $ 1 more each for brown rice. So we called them and was told the rice would be here soon. 20 minutes later, no rice so we called again. They said they were busy and they were«trying to find someone one to deliver it to us.» You mean deliver the meal we paid for? You mean you couldn’t get the driver we tipped $ 5 to fix an incorrect order? But don’t worry, they said they’d give us «something free» next time. HA! Like there will be next time! We made our own rice, ate our cold dinner and ANHOUR after calling to report their error, the rice shows up. There are tons of mediocre Chinese delivery places around this town. Why order from the one with the worse service?

Not Bad but not the best I’ve had. I would order again because of the convenience.

I have tried and tried to order food from this place. I judge on hot & sour soup, dumplings and Mongolian beef. I’ve had pad Thai from here and a few other things. I can walk here so I’m dying for them to turn it around. It always disappoints. The crab Rangoon seems like it was stuck in a bag and put in a closet to die a slow death. This place is awful. I would give it no stars but that is not an option. Blech.

Just ordered delivery through the EAT24 app and it was AMAZING. So easy to order, and SOFAST! Only 20minutes from the time I ordered my food and the time I got a knock on my door. SOHAPPY!

New ownership, and menu slightly different than several years ago. Not quite as good, but still tasty and excellent hot and sour soup. Great service(when dining in), when doing take out, they try to charge for some noodles and sauce, which bothered me. I still think best chinese food in Alexandria, at least from the places I have frequented. Spoiled though from living in the Bay Area

Not a bad Chinese restaurant, on the fly. Decent food and delivery is fast. That’s likely due to the fact that on any given day, it’s hardly ever busy and practically vacant of customers. They could certainly do a better job but hey, what do you want for something basically off the beaten path. I’ve never had anything bad here but certainly nothing stellar. Basic Chinese fare, prices are fair and the staff are always friendly. One thing I find rather amusing is that if you don’t order something, you can’t use their bathrooms, and while that is pretty standard with most any establishment, at this place it seems a bit ridiculous considering that it’s rarely ever busy. So that in itself seems a bit pretentious and unnecessary. But hey, if you have to go that bad, use the bathrooms at the Starbuck’s just up the street from there. All said, still, this place isn’t bad and by far better than some other Chinese restaurants in the general area.

The folks at Shanghai Peking are super polite and efficient. Food always gets to us in mere minutes, hot, fresh, and just as ordered. Their crab Rangoon are probably the best we’ve ever had. Really like this place!

Pretty convenient located in the neighborhood. Has a clean and bright interior. Not a fune dining establish ment, but for a quick fix at 8:30 pm, this is one of my favorite spot in the neighborhood.

Our go to Chinese food in old town area, delivery has always been speedy fast. Food quality is on par with price. Sometimes as quick as 15 minutes.

I have been ordering from SP since I moved to Old Town. The food is tasty and above average, and they are usually very quick with the delivery. After tonight, however, I will not order from them, at least for a little while. I ordered online and received an estimated delivery time if 7:18(30 minutes). At 7:40, I called the restaurant to check on the status. The lady asked for my address and said, «well, you know we are very busy tonight. Can you have a little patience? Okay. Thank you. Bye [hung up on me].» Rude much? Yes. I can have patience. It’s called not calling you until after 20 minutes beyond the estimated delivery time. It is now 7:46 and I still don’t have my food.

Update: decided to try this place again, this time for dinner. I ordered the Kung Pao tofu — it was delicious and no stomach ache after, so I think the first time might have been a fluke.

Let’s just make it known that I am Chinese rating a Chinese restaurant. And it just wasn’t good. All I wanted to cure my hangover was some General Tso chicken, wonton soup and an egg roll. The only thing good was the fortune cookie. From one Chinese to another, I expected crispy chicken, a hot egg roll and not to find a staple in my wonton soup… Yes, a staple. Unfortunately that’s all she wrote.

Food was good! Not the best not the worst. If you try to order online and the system tells you it’s too far– they’ll deliver if you call. Very nice! We had egg drop soup– good Boneless spare ribs– meh Sweet and sour shrimp — good Fried rice — good Delivery was ok, a little longer than quoted but still within an acceptable time.

Deliciousness: The final frontier These are the voyages of the Foodie, Enterprise Its 5 star yum mission To explore strange new worlds of flavor To seek out new foods and new hot spots To boldly go where no foodie has gone before I ordered delivery here, and although the driver was very fast and the food came to my door warm, my order was just so so. I ordered egg rolls, chicken fried rice, and moo shu pork. My second Chinese takeout requirement was met as soon as I opened the bag: «Houston, we are a go for lunch tomorrow.» Yes, there was at least enough for two, if not three meals, and I was confident that I had gotten my money’s worth. I dove right into my moo shu pork, a succulent explosion of rich earthy flavor that was definitely sending my taste-buds to the moon and back. «Mission Control, status check on the moo shu pork… Everything is A.Okay. We are a go for dinner.» My moo shu pancakes were warm and soft, which is a must in any moo shu endeavor. This discovery, along with the fact that the texture of my moo shu pork was perfect and not at all watery like some places serve up, had my hopes and dreams of a better Chinese takeout tomorrow firing on all thrusters. The next stage of our interstellar flight to Chinese food goodness was the egg roll.(Yes, I know that the egg roll is pretty much an Chinese American invention, but who cares, it is one of my favorite parts of the meal). I bit into what was a pretty meager-looking egg roll only to discover more doughy crust than yummy center; my egg roll was a slightly undercooked. «Houston, we have a problem.» I chomped into my second egg roll to see if this was just an egg roll anomaly… More of the same. «Houston, we are showing flashing red lights on our main yummy sensors. Please advise!» Taking direction from my gastronomic Mission Control, I proceeded to Shanghai Peking’s chicken fried rice, which although flavorful, came off a little dry for my taste. «Houston, we have dryness in the fried rice. Mission Control, please advise if we should abort this mission? Confirm on the negative, Mission Control… proceeding with flavor trajectory in minus ten.» I wish that I could say that this dinning mission was an entire success, but the quality of my fried rice and egg rolls was really just average and prevented me from planting my flag on the terrain of exceptional yumminess. However, sometimes just returning from and surviving such a foodie mission is success enough. All things considered, I haven’t entirely scrapped the idea of one day returning to Shanghai Peking’s flavor planet, but for now, I know that there are other worlds out there, other foodie adventures to be explored. So I plan to boldly go where no foodie has gone before. «Houston, we’re ready for launch. Begin countdown.»

Me and my friend went for a quick lunch and it turned out to be longer than we expected. We ordered appetizers and got those rather quickly. But our main dish took too long. We sat there and watched the other 2 people that were in there get their food but ours never came out. We asked for the check and got up to pay for our appetizers. That’s when the waitress informed us that our main dish was ready. I asked if it was ready why didn’t you bring it to us. They informed us that they were waiting for us to finish our appetizers. Clearly we were finished! On another note the sesame balls were good!
