Beautiful atmosphere. I much prefer the upstairs very intimate. If you bring a date up there and it doesn’t work out you can’t blame the place. It’s dim but not so dim you can’t see in front of you. There’s a pool table upstairs and it’s red goes well with the darkness of the bar. I just moved in around the corner. I’m looking forward to going there on the weekends. My drink of choice is a jack on the rocks so it’s very hard to screw that up.

Great beer selection! The burger was pretty good, but I was pretty deep into the night at that point. The food menu didn’t have a lot of great options, but the atmosphere was great

Majestic Lounge applies more to the upstairs portion than the downstairs. I enjoyed a beer and some bar fare last night downstairs and wasn’t disappointed but also wasn’t overly impressed. The staff was friendly, the vibe was trendy, wings and tacos were decent and beer was good. When isn’t beer good, though? What makes this spot special is it’s location. There are very few bar options in Del Ray so if you’re looking for a good drink, this is the place to be.

My wife and I just moved to the area and have found this to be our new local tavern. The drink selection and quality are fantastic. We come here for anything from a cheap domestic beer or for a fine glass of wine or nice cocktail. Prices are extremely competitive. I love the comfortable and cozy quality of the bar. The bar menu has great tasty options at a reasonable price. I suppose above all what we love about this place is the service. We specifically go to this bar for Evan who is friendly and professional. His service is top-notch and he always provides a cold drink in a warm atmosphere. One of my top 5 bar spots on the DC area.

Lovely place in hip part of DelRay. Easy going and humble folks. Beer is cold and crowd is loose.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite bars south of DC. Between Del Ray, Crystal City, and Old Town, this is *the* spot. The lounge is tucked at the back of the Evening Star Café and you wouldn’t know it was there unless you knew to look for it. The beer list here doesn’t change drastically, but it is large and extremely well-curated. It’s a comfortable spot that is somewhat ‘dive’ and somewhat ‘basement’ bar from the 80s. It’s a great place to have a burger and a beer or cocktail. Take advantage of the fact that this place is part of the Evening Star family(along with their attached wine shop) — the wine isn’t bad here either. Starting Wednesdays, the upstairs bar(a bit swankier) opens up and usually has live music.

Majestic lounge is a great bar/lounge to just chill. Although there is hipster flare to this locale, the style and mood is welcoming to all. This has replaced my go-to bar for Northern Virginia. You cannot beat $ 3 Pabst Blue Ribbon or if you want to try local brews, they have an extensive selection. Furthermore, I like their mixed drinks, especially the Oaxacan Hipster moreso than their gin drinks. It is a nice place to hang out with friends since they have ample seating as well as pool tables.

When the rest of Del Ray is asleep and Evening Star is closed for the night, those who aren’t ready to call it a night are here. It’s a laid back environment, I don’t drink beer but my husband and friends claim there is a great selection, and with cool decoration(the shelf/step/whatever in the upstairs bathroom is a tad odd though). It’s open until 2am, and since everything around it is closed, street parking is really easy to find.

Nice hidden bar just past all the pretentious cafes on Mt Vernon. Punker bar(catering, of course, to Alexandria’s whitest of yuppies) decorated with killer old handbills like the Ramones, Black Flag, Hüsker Dü. And while the town is littered with yuppies, the style is held true. The beer is kept on taps coming from three different old-style fridges, the music is solid(White Stripes and Black Keys right when we walked in) and the bartender even has mutton chops and a sneer! Oh, did I mention that at a casual glance I see no fewer than THREE San Diego beers including SCULPIN!!! I’m never leaving. Ever. Forward my mail and someone fetch a pillow.

Stumbled in here on our way to the street fair-where a friend was performing. My thirst was immediately quenched with a vodka soda. The atmosphere and kind staff earned this five star rating-oh and great beer selection too.

This is our favorite bar in Del Ray, and our friends are always up to joining us here for drinks. Great craft beer list, love the retro refrigerator drafts, and creative bar food menu.

Hey this is your quintessential neighborhood bar. This is where I head on a weekday night to watch a game, grab a beer and get some wings. The service is friendly as is the crowd. On the food front, I’m a huge fan of the wings. They have a smoky taste thats flavorful and unique. They have a 3 fridges behind the bar with taps attached on the doors. Definitely a quirky environment, one that both locals and out of towners I’ve brought here have both immensely enjoyed.

A great neighborhood hang, somewhat diminished recently when the brisket sandwich was removed from the bar menu. That and one of their beers from an excellent selection was my go to here. I really hope that sandwich makes a return because I could look around the bar and see another table that had ordered it too. Bring it back, please.

Right now it is 11:15pm. I’m chilling out in the lounge area in the back of the restaurant which is open until 2AM with last call at 1:45. They serve a late night menu until midnight with some serious cuisine. This is not your run of the mill bar food. They have duck, meatloaf, and other good fixins’ rather than your typical hot wings and cheese sticks. The theme of Evening Star Café is comfort food cuisine with a twist. I’m having their meatloaf sandwich with a side salad that comes with it. The meatloaf is flavorful with red onions and mashed potatoes on a kaiser bun. It’s an interesting combo. All very good tasting. The crowd here seems to be local and laid back. Maybe a little hipster even. It is a different vibe than the restaurant crowd. Bar seating, high tables and couch seating is all available in the small, eclectic space. Key eye things to check out: mason jar lighting, stars with light bulbs, the bowling trophy wall, classic beer cans on the ceiling, and 70s rock music. It feels like you’re in the basement at a house party. They have the game on for those who care to pay attention on their two flat screens behind the bar. I like it. Very much my style and in my element.

Haven’t reviewed in a while, but the Majestic deserves it. The first bar in all of Northern Virginia that I really love. Think of a reason you would go to a bar, and this has it.

This is a cool spot attached to Evening Star Café. I like the ambiance with the hipster décor. This place is really low key and kind of makes you feel like you’re hanging out in someone’s basement(was only downstairs, will venture upstairs next time). The mason jar lights are really creative and I love the kegerator inspired beer taps! The beer selections were great, they have craft beer but the also have«the usual suspects» like Miller Lite, Yuengling etc. There is wine and liquor as well. The food is excellent! We had the fired chicken sliders on sweet potato biscuits(!) and the jambalaya, both were top-notch and hit the spot! The service was great, the bartenders were friendly and attentive. They made excellent recommendations and even let us sample some beers before ordering. This is a great spot to go if you’re looking for low key spot for the evening. The crowd was pretty diverse for the area too! I will definitely come back!

Great little bar with the ambience of someone’s basement bar. I especially liked the old refrigerators repurposed as beer taps. They had a great beer selection, though not huge. The bartenders are very friendly and helpful. The bar snacks are also really good. It is a little dark even on a sunny afternoon, but it lends to the ambience. People obviously spend some time here because they also have a selection of board games like Risk and Parcheesi. I will definitely be back for some game time.

This might not only be my favorite bar in Alexandria, but my favorite in all of DC. Let’s hit the checklist: 1) Cool ambiance, lounge stylings, punctuated by mason jar lights and old school fireplaces with candles? Check. 2) Great(!) craft beer selection, with 15+ rotating taps in 3 fridges, which change specials every day? Double check. 3) Sweet bar food, which includes fat little wings? TRIPLEMEGAGODZILLACHECK. I’m not sure what else I need to list, at this point. There’s great food, great ambiance, and great beer. Majestic is definitely more of a neighborhood lounge/secret hangout than bustling city center bar, but it nails the image that it wants to show off. The upstairs area features more of the same setup, and has pool tables/shuffleboard/tv’s, and features live music twice a week. All in all, I can’t think of a single way i’d improve this spot. A+. Can’t wait for the weather to warm up so I can enjooy the outdoor area too.

Gotta agree with the rest of the reviews, this is a great bar. I’ve visited a number of times over the years and it’s my favorite place to wind down in the entire DC/Nova area. There are many reasons why. The staff is great and attentive, even when it’s crowded. The beer selection is perfect, plenty of great options but you don’t feel overwhelmed and it’s easy to choose. The atmosphere is comfortable and the décor is a fun to look at and talk about(like the old concert posters). Finally, I don’t know what it is about this place, but the patrons are usually the coolest, friendliest people. It’s tough to say that about most places, but it’s true about the Majestic Lounge. Can’t wait to get back there.

«Hipster, here little, Hipster.» Just like putting a warm saucer of milk out for a cat, this bar attracts all the fine, young hipsters… But, hey, that is not such a bad thing, because the place is just plain cool. It is cozy and intimate, but also a little edgy which makes for one of the most entertaining bars in all of Del Ray. I love their old fashioned refrigerator kegmeister/tap system. Also, my bartender/manager(Morgan)was cute and bubbly, keeping the afternoon crowd entertained and well stocked in libations. She took a strong sense of pride in her job and the Majestic Lounge which was very nice to see. Now, I have been coming here on and off for years, and it isalso nice to see that this spot is always keeping things fresh with the occasional makeover. I guess that is why it always bright and cheery rather than beaten and dead. I particularly love the wall of old, quirky trophies.” Hmmm, didn’t know that they gave trophies for butterfly catching.” Oh, and let’s not forget the bar’s assortment of boardgames: Risk, Sorry, Scrabble, and Clue to name just a few. I can see it now, a couple of cocktails and, «It’s Col. Mustard with the candlestick in the Library. Yeah, that’s right, I went there Sherlock Holmes.» Only at The Majestic could one solve a major crime or become embroiled in a game of world domination. I can’t help but recall the Seinfeld episode where Kramer and Newman play risk for days: All in all, this is just about the best bar in Del Ray, and if you don’t check it out, you are really missing out on something special.
