Hollin Hall Barber Shop

Great neighborhood barber shop just around the corner from my favorite hardware store. Art has been cutting hair there for almost 50 years and knows all the locals. This is the place to get a quick haircut and catch up on the area (and the Redskins.)

Went to this shop this morning — it was my first time there and I was very happy with the result. I asked for a short haircut. My barber gave it a 1^st pass and it was good but I wanted it shorter — not a problem — and he got it exactly the way I like it on the 2^nd pass. Thanks a bunch. It’s really hard to find a good barber. I’ve lived in Old Town for four years and I feel like I finally found a good shop with a good price. It’s worth it even though there other shops that are a lot closer. The shop is a bit tucked away in a little strip mall with ample parking. Look for the barber pole (not really visible from the parking lot). I called ahead and they are cash only, open Saturdays 8 to 5. Open weekdays til 6 (didn’t ask when they open).

What a great place! I couldn’t have been more happy with my experience. The guys are fantastic and have me the cut I requested– I’ll be back!

Art is fantastic with my 5 year old. I want a specific type of preppy/​surfer little boy cut and Art gets it right every time. He’s nice to my son and I’ll wait for him specifically because his haircuts are consistently good. I’ve tried the other barber there once, but the cut wasn’t as good. Art is talented and I can’t recommend him enough for little kid cuts.

I’ve been going here for about 10 years. Art and the guys are very friendly. Most of the time I get a good haircut, but every now and then it’s just average. I’m not the type of customer that waits for a particular barber. I take the first open seat. Art normally has a line so I get one of the other guys. They both do a fine job, but there’s some inconsistency between the two. There’s always oldies or jazz music playing and you can bet the Redskins will come up in conversation. The clientele is mostly regulars with ages ranging from «first haircut» age to «last haircut» age. Every now and then the banter heats up which is one of the reasons I keep going back.
