Obviously, the food at Bruegger’s Bagels anywhere will be pretty much the same. I had a bagel and it was fine… just fine. The problem with this location is the staff. Service was HORRENDOUS. The guy making my sandwich was either high or half asleep and clearly didn’t want to be working there. Took forever to make the sandwhich, then left me with it when it was time to check out. Waited another 5 min for someone from the back to take my payment while high kid just stood there.

Some of the best bagels I’ve ever had. Their other selections are decent as well. Go here for the bagels, though. Enough said.

Would have been nice to try a bagel, but they weren’t open over an hour after they were supposed to be. The employees were walking in at 6:30 and we weren’t willing to wait god knows how long for them to set up. Service here is a joke.

I can nearly give one star because the service sucked. I actually didn’t buy anything because the employees seemed so angry. The only thing I did was walk in for a sandwich. No one said hello, hi, or at a minimum screw you and get out. The employees need a lesson on customer service. To make matters worse, one employee wasn’t going to even change his plastic gloves to make me a sandwich. Unbelievable. I decided want to buy anything.

Great little express breakfast spot. Flavorful creations with decent coffee. Very reasonably priced and located on the beautiful king street in Alexandria. Interior is clean and modern looking. Great place for the early birds as well, usually open around 6am including weekends.

We, unfortunately, snacked here twice, two weeks apart, since it was close to our destination. The employee could not determine the flavors of piled high muffins, which were encased in clear cellophane wrappers. The muffin we chose was stale. The cappuccino was like café au lait. During the second visit, the cappuccino machine was broken and we asked how long it had been broken. The employee said it had been broken for over one week. He added that it was probably enough that the restaurant has five flavors of hot coffee plus three flavors of iced coffee. One of us ordered a soda, the employee added ice to a cup, and then abruptly went into the kitchen where we saw and heard two other employees joking around. Eventually the original employee came back and filled the cup with soda. Plain black coffee was not good — whether it be a dirty pot or cheap beans or the way it was mad.

Bagels are OK. We all know there are better bagel places, but in Old Town we don’t really have options. Sandwich selection is average. They do have non-bagel options as well. They tend to show special bagels on signs in the window, but never have them on the menu. The service is meh. I was waited on, paid, and then the cashier didn’t get my order. He went on to the next guy in line and had a half hour conversation with him. Meanwhile, he hasn’t completed my transaction. Hello? I finally had to get the attention of the other girl there– after she got off the phone. Tables here are never clean. Bring your own cleaner.

Pastrami, egg and swiss on an everything bagel– solid bagel sandwich. As I sat down to eat my sandwich and drink my coffee – everyone who came into the joint was greeted with a familiar«Hello». The two gentlemen working this morning were lovely. I’ll be back.

Came for a Classic Wrap one morning. Not awful but I’ve had better breakfast sandwiches elsewhere. Usually just pop in for a bagel with cream cheese and orange juice. Especially if starbucks line is way to long. Luckily, whenever I’m here there is never a line and I’m in and out quickly. A other day came in for a bagel sometime in the afternoon and the manager told me sorry and that the registers where closed. While I’m staring and the registers and the screen clearly says«register open» and there was plenty of people still inside sitting and enjoying their meals. I was pissed. This is not a top favorite of mine but I will go here if I need a quick bite to eat. One great thing is that you do get a lot of cream cheese for you bagel versus starbucks with a little tiny container that isn’t even enough to cover your whole bagel. Just go for a good bagel! :)

Try the lunch trio, you won’t be disappointed coz it packs a punch, sandwich, soup… Best across the Potomac… And the aha moment, cheap eats best for people on a budget and also accommodating for heavy loaded wallets, your pick, so is the menu… Bagels with a twist.

Giving it 2 stars out of bagel desperation. The basic bagels taste OK, its mainly the service that is lacking. I’m not sure anyone working here knows how to toast a bagel or put the right amount of schmear or butter on either. So frustrating to eat what started as a decent bagel but is partially toasted and has ½ tub of cream cheese all over it. F. Unfortunately, its the the game in walking distance.

Normally I am a huge fan of this place and go there multiple times a week with no problems but today there were some serious issues. My order got switched with another customers(which I know totally happens and wasn’t too upset about). But then I went back to have it fixed and they made me the wrong sandwich again! I don’t really understand how that happened considering I specifically told the woman what was supposed to be in in my sandwich(bacon and cream cheese on sesame-pretty simple). When I finally got a sandwich it was cold-not toasted or anything, the bacon was in a bunch of tiny crumpled pieces, and they had run out of sesame bagels. I was so looking forward to this sandwich but instead all I got was disappointment.

Brueggers is a perfect type of place to get a snack or eat a brunch. For a bagel place I would expect the bagels to be perfect and they’re not far from that. Don’t get me wrong I really enjoy stopping by every now and then and getting a bagel. My favorite is the honey and walnut cream cheese spread on a toasted plain bagel. It’s healthy, tasty, and satisfying. Also a good place to take your kids!

I had a great experience here. I enjoyed what I ordered. Bagel was soft.

All we wanted were bagel sandwiches that were toasted. Not just the bagel, we wanted the meat and the cheese warmed up, too. That caused so much confusion and lots of attitude among the staff. I mean, it’s not a big deal. Just put the whole sandwich into the 35 second oven instead of putting just the bagel. Also, the bathroom had no soap or towels and someone carved a dirty picture into the towel holder. I recommend that you just keep walking and get a sandwich somewhere else.

«Nationally popular chain with a sub-par Alexandria location» Food: 3⁄5 Service: 2⁄5(counter service) Atmosphere: 3⁄5 Parking: 1⁄5 Cleanliness: 3⁄5 While the food at this location may be passably good in terms of the broader definition of a simple bagel with cream cheese, it’s certainly not a stretch to expect that a «bagel restaurant» should serve, well I don’t know, how about stellar bagels unrivaled by other breakfast/brunch places? However, this experiment in New York style bagel shops placed in Old Town Alexandria has certainly fallen flat. As other Unilocalers have commented, the employees of this location are highly untrained, inexperienced in basic customer service standards, and seem rushed and/or inconvenienced by the very customers they are serving. The highly visible back of house area seems somewhat disheveled and unkempt, and the racks of bagels seem less like a sanitary space and more like a pen in which small zoo animals are kept for long distance travel… weird. The bagels themselves aren’t bad. They certainly aren’t great but not«awful». Upon my second trip I remembered that their texture is actually strangely chewy, if not slightly hardened on the crust portion which is quite odd but noteworthy. Parking is horrendous as it is in Old Town Alexandria so I caution Unilocalers who happen to be driving to this location. However, you’d be much better served to drive to another restaurant for breakfast as this one is certainly not worth the extra effort.
