Been here 4 times now, and ive enjoyed every visit! Went up there lastnight with my dad(despite it being outside our usual grazing area) for my birthday. As always the pierogis were totally delicious(we secretly call it Pierogi Land). upon hearing it was my birthday they desert on the house!(super nice!) and i opted for the crêpe! wow was it too fantastic, fried with just a bit of crispy, and soft buttery folds and a delicious wild strawberry syrup. Im told i by a friend i need to try the Solanka soup,(looked it up online and i agree that sounds right up my alleyway) previously they gave me a cup of ‘Green Borscht’ of which i never knew existed, but loved, so i suspect my friends suggestion will be fantastic!

What a gem! Like traveling to Poland without the airfare! I had the pirogues… Russian Roulette… fried with onions and bacon. Perfect for me since I like to taste everything. My husband had a real Polish sausage… and we finished with some yummy blitzes. We had no room for the borscht special, so we’ve brought it home for dinner. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the chef even came out to say hello. Also, if you like to cook. they have a great selection of European spices and relishes… think Hungarian paprika, beet and cabbage relish, caviar, farmer’s cheese and some fantastic dark chocolates… lemon, orange chili, black cherry… Are you drooling yet?

I love Russian food, but didn’t expect to find any in ABQ. I typed it into Unilocal one day on a whim & found this place. Score! Now, it’s not perfect. It’s a deli, so their offerings are limited, but that’s really the only drawback. The staff is friendly & engaging. The perogies & sausages are good, & they offer all the right accutraments. We’ll be back!

Had the periogies and they were the bomb. My buddy had the stuffed cabbage and I had a bite. Excellent as well. All homemade by a polish chef.

Our family had never been to a polish/German restaurant before, so I have nothing to compare to. But this was delicious! We got a few plates to share. Bratwurst very flavorful, sauerkraut stew is yummy ! Stuffed cabbage is super tender. All the pierogi on the Russian roulette plate were great. We’ll be back!

What a unique place. Part deli — part grocery — part restaurant. Wanted to try something very different today so tried the pyzy. Potato dumplings with pork. Wow they were delicious. Tasted so fresh. Felt like I was at a grandmother’s house who lovingly put them together that day. Highly recommend

This place is fabulous. It doesn’t get much better than this in Albuquerque. I crave the food everyday. The perigees are to die for. The Italian beef with real Vienna beef, it doesn’t get much better then that. The sausages are AMAZING and the owner is so nice. He always wants to chat about everything. This place is great you really need to come check this place out!

I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, the land of great pierogis. I mean, nobody calls it that, but it is. Red Rock Deli is as good as it gets — authentic and awesome. Get the russian roulette.

First time, this place is a gem. Great food and good service. Had a chance to chat with the owner, he is very passionate about what he does. Don’t let the outside fool ya, food is great.

Unassuming little place that use to be a gas station? That’s intriguing enough to bring me in! Turns out, it use to be a subway, trust me you’ll know it when you get in. You can order take out at the counter or they will seat you for table service. The menu isn’t vast but it hits the high points. We opted for the Russian roulette savory perogies as well as the gyro. The perogies were flippin amazing! I ended up with cheese, squash, tuna, spinach x2, and mushroom. I wasn’t a huge fan of tuna, but the others were all amazing. The gyro was super good, reminded us a bit of Doner shops in Eastern Europe but the bread was different. The fries were the only let down, they were soggy and we didn’t eat them at all. It was fun to look at the grocery items from Eastern Europe where we’ve spent some time. I found our favorite raspberry cookies that we had in Prague! Delicious! They have kinder chocolates too including hippos that bring back good memories of our time in Germany. They also have a freezer section with all the different flavors of perogies. I think I’ll drop back in for some frozen ones to make at home. I can’t wait to go back and try more delicious food including the cabbage roll… noms! I’ll be back to this friendly shop for unique eats in our desert town.

The owner is a very nice guy! Which translates to how he treats his clients. We had lamb gyros and they were great. I am not much of a meat person these were cooked to perfection and the sauce really brought the dish together. Not only was our meal great but while you wait you can shop around and see what goodies they have in the market. We were given a soup of the day appetizers for free! Which was delicious. Looooove this place. And you will too if you give it a go.

Something tells me the secret is out! There’s no more hiding this little treasure in the grove! It’s standing out like a sore thumb, and deservedly so! It’s an awesome little place with a touch of personality. The owner’s son, Paul, greets everyone and walks them through the ordering process like an old friend. His father, Mark, comes out of the kitchen in between the dishes he’s cooking to greet everyone as well. Their Polish Matriarch’s photo is commanding a place on the wall, as if she’s ensuring everything is prepared and presented in true historic fashion. It really is the epitome of a family run business. We ordered the Russian Roulette, which is an assortment of various pierogi served up with bacon and onions, and wow! It was sooooo good! Followed by nalesniki, which is like a crêpe filled with cheese & fried, topped with a berry sauce, and once again, wow! I need a new exclamation don’t I? Regardless, it was sinfully good! On our way out we purchased a couple dessert goodies to go & still only spent 35 bucks. Folks, you NEED to try this place.

Love the friendly down home service! Perfect place for the Food TV show Diners Drive ins and Dives, if it has not already been featured there. As my first time here, I’m going with what was recommended, Russian Roulette Pirogies. Six different varieties, I opted with the addition of bacon and onions for $ 1 extra. Kind of a no brainier in my opinion! . Who would have guessed that Albuquerque was the place to go for Pirogies! The also offered a complementary cup of the fathers, «Kitchen Sink Style» soup, which was delicious and unexpected. Very interesting blend of ingredients, clear broth around what looks like hotdog slices, sausage, potatoes, pickles, black olives and a dollop of sour cream on top! Pure savory goodness! Every Pirogi was delicious!

While you wait for your order, you can explore the interesting variety of stuff for sale, from sauerkraut to frozen meats to all kinds of pickled things and foreign chocolate bars. The stuffed cabbage was delicious(tomato-y and tender), and could almost satisfy a pasta-with-tomato-sauce sort of craving if you can’t eat that kind of thing. The perogies were good and the pyzy(not sure how to pluralize that) were better(like a potato version of a perogy). I liked the mushroom filling the best. The sweet blintzes were my favorite part, though! So yummy. Actually, the best part was the guy who made our food. This is why they get all 5 stars. I’m sure he was the owner, and he was so friendly and happy and greeted everyone who came in so very enthusiastically. I’m going to go back and try the borscht and some sausages someday soon.

As soon as I drove up I knew. The reviewers before me knew it and they Unilocaled it. This place should be featured on Guy’s Diners, Driveins and Dives. The owner came out after my order and asked if I’d like free soup to start my meal, I was delighted. He is very friendly, we chatted about the soups and sides he orders from Chicago that fill the store’s shelves. I plan to take some home for sure. The green Borscht was awesome. The broth was tasty and it had some small pieces of beans and potato in it that were nice and soft and flavorful. My first time having borscht and no doubt I’m spoiled already! The Russian Roulette came out and oh my. Another first time for me. With onions and bacon bits, the perogies were amazing! There was a cheese filled one, several meat filled ones and one with meat and sauerkraut. They were all amazing! I recommend everyone stop what they are soon and drive to this location to try it once.

HOLYCOW! This is the mother lode of fabulous Eastern European food, right here in the Que. We’ve been dying to try this place after hearing great reviews, and we finally did this past Saturday for lunch. The pleasant young woman working as hostess/waitress gave us a friendly greeting and seated us immediately. Once we placed our orders, my hubby struck up a conversation with the friendly owner — and he sent out two free cups of green borscht. It was fresh and flavorful, full of large chunks of potato and sausage, and small bits of hard boiled egg. Yum! For our entrees, hubby and I split the Russian Roulette pierogi plate(with onion & bacon), the Pyzy plate(also with onion & bacon), and the Polish/German platter(1 Polish sausage, 1 German brat, and big scoops of mayo-based red potato salad, sauerkraut, and sauerkraut stew). Everything was VERY authentic and delicious! We loved the variety(and surprise fillings) of the Russian Roulette pierogis, which had the classic soft, tender texture. The pyzy were apparently also a mixed variety(even thought the menu said«meat»). They were big, soft dumpling pillows stuffed with tasty ricotta cheese, meat, spinach and possibly other fillings too. Everything on the Polish/German platter was the BEST version of each ingredient that I’ve ever had. We gobbled up every bite of everything! Since hubby is of Ukrainian/Polish/Eastern European descent, and I have German ancestry, we’ve had plenty of these foods in the past. The Red Rock Deli’s versions are phenomenal. Don’t come for the atmosphere(it’s an extremely casual, hole-in-the-wall kind of place), but DO come for the amazing food!

I am thoroughly pumped! When I walked inside, I had a feeling it was going to be something special. The smells were wonderful. It was very clean, organized and uncluttered. This isn’t just a Polish delicatessen. Russian, German, Greek & American foods are served as well. Atleast those are the others I noticed on the menu. The owner serves food that he likes to eat(which I think is brilliant) and I can tell you he has very good taste in food. When he checked on me, I would ask him questions about his establishment. After a couple times, he finally sat down across from me and we chatted for the rest of my visit. What a great conversationalist! I learned of his life’s journeys, how he got started and how he ended up in NM. The food was beyond good and well portioned. I had the Polish Polish sausage, pierogis and his borscht. The borscht was a first for me. It was excellent. The sausage and pierogis were so good I can’t stop thinking of them! I can’t wait to go back to try his other dishes like the stuffed cabbage and mostly his wiener schnitzel which he had prepared for the next day. He showed it to me and it was friggin huge. Check this place out when you get a hankering for something different. It’s in a residential area and sort of easy to miss. Don’t let the location discourage you. I’m pretty sure you will be as impressed as much as I was. The owner and his staff are very friendly and polite. Also, they will cook to your liking so if you like your dish a certain way, tell them.

I grew up making perogis by hand from scratch — imagine how happy I was to find out I can get them at a restaurant without having to put the time in! This small corner place has the BEST perogis I have had(other then the ones I was«forced» by my mom to make as a kid) in quite some time. I also ordered some German sausage and brats with sauerkraut and potato salad. The sausages were GREAT — esp the German as was the sauerkraut. The potato salad is not your traditional German style but is still good. Service was a bit on the slow side which I would normally knock a star off for BUT with the quality of the food it can be overlooked assuming it was just a bad day. Grab your lederhosens and stop in and try this place — you will not regret!
