We decided to try Taco King while passing by Albert Lea at lunch time. A little off our route but the detour was worth the drive. Very busy but orders were handled efficiently. The taco topping were fresh and had great flavors. Of particular note is the cilantro onions. They gave my beef tacos a wonderful flavor.

Ate at the downtown location today for lunch. Had the deluxe burrito special. For 7 dollars I expected a larger portion, but it was good, quick and delicious. I ate it in 5 minutes and I am not a fast eater.

Nothing more than Taco Bell made to look like a restaurant. Was late & was hungry after work so popped in for enchiladas/taco plate. I ORDEREDCHICKEN enchiladas/taco, got back to motel to find BEEF enchiladas/taco, unreal! Tried calling them just to let them know the entire order was wrong but the phone just rang & rang. Would’ve taken it back if it hadn’t already been late & I needed to eat & get to bed for work the next day. You can basically get the same food from taco bell for cheaper.

Pretty run of the mill americanized mexican food. Tastes ok, but portion size for the cost is pathetic. After spending $ 10 dollars for lunch, I was still hungry and had to buy an apple and banana at wal-mart. The sauces were tasteless. The enchilada sauce was reminiscent of canned sauce. I would recommend going to taco john’s and paying half as much for double the quanity and the the same quality. People in Albert lea just don’t know what good food is. Dont believe the 4 star reviews.

Great food, served hot, fresh and fast. Prices do not include beverage so can be more that what you’re expecting for prices. Portions are small so be sure to try the fried ice cream. Staff is friendly and service is A+. Locally owned, great place that is a fav with the kids and parents alike.

They now have 2 locations. A great cross between sit-down and fast food. You get your meal right away at the counter, it’s a big portion of restaurant quality food. They have photos of everything you can order. Extremely friendly!!! The best customer service I think I’ve ever had. They come to check on you and clear your table. I definitely recommend.

The Taco King? What taco? Oh you mean the taquitos they serve there. At least that’s what my supreme burrito came looking out as. I feel like I got jipped and skimped on my food. At least for the price I paid and how small it was you’d think it’d be good. Nope, just a plain olé soggy burrito with just beef in it. What a rip off.

You’ve GOT to be kidding me with this place! Is this a funny practical joke? The portions for the amount your paying is a scam! $ 6 for a small plate of chicken nachos, not to mention their cheese sauce is so watered down and their salsas are pitiful. The hot isn’t even prob made with jalapenos! It’s not hot at all! My boyfriend got the burrito special and he might as wwll went to Taco Bell and got a 99 cent burrito that was bigger. And to only put beef in it, what?! $ 2 for a small small plate of chips? Get real! This place is really scamming this whole town becaise there’s nothing like this around. I’ll steer clear of this place next time. Pathetic.

The food was excellent, the service fast, and the employees friendly, helpful, and conscientious. They checked on us twice while we were eating. The condiment bar included limes, cilantro and onions, as well as the usual pico de gallo and salsas. The beans were unusually tasty. The prices were very reasonable

My daughter found the Taco King for us on Unilocal as we were driving north on I-35 yesterday. She knew that the win or loss for restaurant choice was on her — big win! Pros — Excellent home-made Mexican food — I had the daily special of two chicken enchiladas in red enchilada sauce with a soft ground beef taco smothered in cheese with, surprise, beans and rice. The enchiladas were excellent — wonderful sauce, quality tortilla, and nice shreds of white meat chicken. The enchilada sauce was soo good it may have been homemade. The beans were also excellent and so tasty they may have been homemade. The rice and taco were good but not notable. The manager did offer sour cream and added it separately from a squirt bottle. I don’t usually get sour cream, but did this time and it was quite tasty. Speed — From the time of order to when we were eating was less than 5 minutes and the food still tasted homemade — try that with a chain! Salsa bar — Excellent salsa bar — onions with cilantro! Cleanliness — Somebody in management must have been in the military because Taco King is so clean. We were there a little after dinner rush — everything was neat and I swear you could probably eat off any surface in the entire restaurant. If you want clean, Taco King’s your place. Service — The service was crisp and respectful. Remember this is a family restaurant and the family runs it well. The manager(son), who will be managing the new branch when it opens, was quick, efficient, and quickly checked on how we liked it soon after we commenced eating. Cons– Kind of a con is that you have to drive about 4 minutes off the freeway to get to downtown Albert Lea to eat here — trust me, it is worth it! The food here is worthy of good Mexican food found in Phoenix!

THINGS I LIKED: Great fresh food at a very reasonable price. The individual taking our order was friendly and helpful,(translated our english into spanish for the man preparing our food which is always a good sign when ordering ethnic cuisine in my book). Clean, Clean, Clean. THINGS I DIDN“T LIKE: Nothing Really! A little ways off the interstate for my cross country trek, however when quality food tips the scale compared to speed down the way, I’d take the extra ½ hour. Matter O fact, I’m adding the time it takes to swing into TACOKING the next time my travels take me thru Albert Lee.

The food is pretty good and I like how all the meals have pictures along a wall to help decide what you want. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere of the area is nice. I got the lunch portion which was just a little small and still left me pretty hungry.

The Taco King served us up some delicious fare. It’s nothing fancy, just fast, good Mexican food. The Deluxe Plate included two tacos and nachos for less than $ 7, and the salsa bar was complete with limes, onions and cilantro, pico, mild and hot salsa. I’ll be back!
