I’m from out of state. I went here with some friends. Had a great time. Lots of friendly people. Will be back before I leave.

Not a big dance club fan but waterworks was amazing! Loved it and recommend it to everyone!

Drove to Albany for a gay bear weekend event, Waterworks being one of the bars suggested to go to… big mistake, not that I made it to the bar. Just to get into the door, you need to check your coat. there were 10 people in the bar, 10. older bar manager guy who told us of this rule, and we were a party of 4, couldn’t have been any nastier or rude, and we left. spend my money here? Nope. Go to Rocks across the street. Very nice, friendly staff and attentive friendly bartenders

Sorry, but ‘Meh. I’ve experienced better’ is right. Fun upstairs with decent music and low-key downstairs, Negatives: –beware the ‘regulars’ who will grill you for more info about you to see if you ‘fit in.’ You know the kind– the ones who have been going there since they could legally get in and think they’re some sort of ‘elite’ VIP’er or something –the door lets anyone in– I mean anyone including the 17 year old boys and girls who can’t hold their drinks and so end up vomitting all over the bathroom, which brings me to my next point… –bathrooms smell like a weird mix of piss meets vomit. I’ve never actually seen anyone with a mop in there, despite the constant wet and sticky floors. –exit the bathroom and there’s a cafeteria-type food section with nachos, cheese, and hotdogs that smell past their expiration. It’s pretty bad and you notice it as far as the front of the bar. I see the ‘draw’ of offering this service, but spare the stench please and get rid of it. –cover charge– like Rocks, you aren’t worthy of it any night of the week. –drinks are a little on the steep side(however, see below), but I guess when you’re gay and feel unwelcome anywhere else, the owner pretty much has you to the barrel of a gun, same with for charging a cover But I’m sure everyone will ignore the laundry list of negatives and care only about the few positives this place has to offer… Positives: –in their defense, the bartenders are actually very nice. –drinks are pricy BUT made pretty well, and by well, I mean lots of alcohol; if not, just ask them to fix it and they’ll do it with no problem –pool table– score! –occasaional performer, like drag or artist or something. That can be fun and I see how a cover can be charged for that, but for nothing else

This place saw better days. About the only thing that can save it now is probably a wrecking ball unfortunately. Not sure the need for this place to wreak of stale spicy food, but it hits you on your way in. Oh wait– it’s because someone got the tragic idea to put carnival food out for sale with no ventilation so you end up getting hit with a whiff of hours’ old gross food. And it sticks to you all night, baby. There is also no door check– anyone gets in regardless of how much effort they put into their attire and class. It also means little Johnny got drunk in his dorm beforehand and now wants to finish his night here in a drunken stupor. The door lady or guy? ‘No problem so long as you pay your cover, youngin’! We don’t discriminate based on age!‘ Save your money on pricy drinks here and hit up your local campus party or throw your own. This place has had way too many chances to be given anything above two stars.

Here, you can… DANCE! That’s right! The first floor has a great dance floor that you can tease those too shy to go upstairs to hit the real dance floor where the crowd is at the mercy of the amazing DJ. With an upstairs bar, there’s never a need to go downstairs. Unless, of course, you’re leaving… Can’t wait to come back for some more wobbling!

Everyone’s on the spectrum right? I’m definitely straight, but this is by far the best place to go in albany to have a good time regardless of your– *ahem* «personal taste». It seems like everywhere you go in albany assholes come out in droves for the soul purpose of starting a fight or yelling«HEYBABAYY» to your girlfriend. This place has none of that bullshit. People are jjust here to have a good time.(period). The coat check is always super friendly and loves to make chit-chat. The karaōke is usually very eventful(expect to wait a good hour for your turn). The drinks are fairly priced. I patted a girl(girl?) on the ass upstairs almost got kicked out, BUT5 minutes later i got another girl(girl!)‘s number from downstairs. Its just that type of place where the unexpected happens.

Going out on new years in Albany. Looked on Unilocal of course and found waterworks. OMFG I LOVELOVE this club!!! Seriously the best club I’ve ever been to!!! Yes it was SUPER dirty, just the floors. Spilled drinks and stuff. But the music was awesome! They play a variety of top hits to 80’s! If I lived here I would be here ALL the time!!!

Where is a girl to find a gay BFF? That is the(rhetorical) question. I came here last night with a new friend from school, and I left with so many new ones! So I guess the question isn’t where, but how many you’re gonna leave with. There was a «bearoke» event going on, but nevermind that almost half of the peeps at the bar weren’t bears or men. If you’re a chick, you won’t really stick out too much, and if you happen to be a straight dude with your gay brother and friends, well, there’re plenty of straight women to chat with(ie, me). They have a dance floor upstairs that plays house-ish music and a nice little patio to bum a few drags from a new friend should you need them before belting out some soulful tunes back downstairs. I hope to be back for some more sass soon.

First off, I’m not really that into dance clubs. But Water Works was still a fun time, even though I had to pay a $ 7 cover. And if I’m going to go to a dance club, then I’m definitely much happier here at a gay bar than anywhere else. There were drag performances last night, which I totally loved. I wish I’d gotten there earlier so I could have seen even more of them. (As a woman, it’s also nice to be able to avoid dealing with come-ons from creepy guys.) This is probably one of the most diverse crowds you’ll find in Albany, which is kind of awesome. There are two different floors — one with thumping club music and another one that’s a little more laid back. There are also at least two special areas for the smokers amongst us, so they won’t feel so marginalized. My drink was a little pricey at $ 8 for a cranberry-vodka with a twist of lime. However, there were drink specials announced throughout the night including $ 5 well drinks and $ 2 shots. Oh, and it’s 18 and up. I’ve heard that karaōke with Mama on Thursdays is always a great time. Check out the events calendar at .
