NOT A DRYCLEANERSANYMORE! Very friendly staff, drop off service is excellent. THECHARACTERSTHATHANGAROUNDTHEPARKINGLOTARESCARY! Don’t go by yourself if you are a chick. I have been a number of times when the cops have come to get rid of riff-raff. Very attentive staff. Equipment works well.

I agree with H.R., this place is very sketchy. I’ve been going here for 6 months since moving to Albany, and am now searching for a replacement laundromat. There are sometimes shady characters hanging around this place, most of the time not even doing laundry. The staff doesn’t seem to want to usher them out, however. The surrounding area is Pine Hills, in which houses/apartments were robbed 30 times over a couple week period not too long ago, a couple of them a block or so away from the laundromat. I know this is the student ghetto and the robberies happen over Thanksgiving break a lot, but still — it’s the same area. One time as I was putting my clean laundry in my car, a guy asked me to go buy something for him at the dollar store next door. When I told him I had no cash he said he had money(but apparently couldn’t buy his own thing?) and I noticed his friends hanging out by the door of the dollar store. Not a good scene. I’ve also seen someone passed out that had to be woken up to get their clothes. Wasn’t a college student, either. As for the actual laundromat, it is big, there is lots of room to fold your laundry and there are plenty of carts so you’re never fighting for one. It’s usually not too crowded during the day when I head over there. Only once or twice was there even close to a lack of space to fold your clothes or sit. The big washers on the right when you walk in, that are $ 4.50, lock when your clothes are in there, so if you’re going here and have to leave — I’d use those. But, there are also dryers that don’t work and are not marked. In which I’ve wasted a few quarters and gone home with wet clothes. The TV in the back has been broken for months now. The bathroom is usually locked and you have to ask to get the key for it. It just feels like one of those places you can go only so many times before something happens. I’m heading that off by trying somewhere new from now on.

Washer was on the fritz — had to seek out a laundromat. Holy crap this place is sketchy. The parking lot had me praying I wouldn’t be stabbed just walking inside. That said, there is lots of parking — most people have better sense than to be here. Inside, it’s a very large laundromat, with ample equipment and folding room. Washers are $ 2, dryers are something in the order of 25 cents for 7 minutes of drying time — likely, drying will not cost as much as washing. It was kind of clean… kind of. Honestly, it would be an okay place to do laundry if the parking lot/surrounding neighborhood didn’t feel like a demilitarized zone. Not a place to go without your concealed carry permit.

Every time I go here I think that I should also go bowling at the same time. One of these days I’ll do that. I should preface this with stating that going to the laundromat is probably the chore I hate most in life. There are two coin-op dryers and two washers in my apartment building so luckily I don’t have to go to laundromats that often. However, there are times when I let my laundry pile grow so much that I decide the best thing to do is go to a laundromat and do it all in one shot. Playdium has more extra-large washers than most of the other laundromats I go too, which is definitely a good thing. It’s usually not too crowded either and the parking lot is huge. It’s also a lot cleaner than most of the laundromats I’ve been too. Sometimes the clerk isn’t very helpful, and one time all of the change machines were broken, which was extremely annoying. Luckily, I’ve had positive experiences since then so my opinion isn’t totally marred by that one bad experience. If they were to get WiFi here, I’d be even more likely to make this my go-to laundromat.
