Pizza Mare’restaurant

Paid $ 10.50 for a footlong Italian sub.
Bread was fresh, soft and wide, with a slight sweet taste, that may be good as a pizza, but not as a roll.
Asked for hot peppers, but got roasted red peppers… still not a deal breaker.
But the meat, including a very thin slice of provalone, was only ¼″ thick. It was also mostly ham, not the harder Italian meats/​salami. The bread to meat ratio definitely favored the bread, to a large degree. With the much better Italian sub offerings within 3 miles, this was very disappointing.
20 yrs ago, I use to come here for the grilled sandwiches. You could split a Ruben, with a friend and be full. Maybe that’s what I’ll try next, but I think there’s a reason I stopped going here 20 yrs ago.

This place needs a makeover by Robert Irvine or Chef Ramsey. Absolutely filthy. Mens room was locked last time. Back hallway to bathroom cold n disgusting. Burned myself with hot water faucet… some food items are really good but the owner n staff doesn’t care about the guest experience. Service sucks, is slow, inattentive. No Coors Light, last two visits?! Dining spaces are sad. Kitchen is filthy!!! Understaffed during busy times. Wish this owner would get it together.

I very seldom leave bad reviews but I have ordered from this place at least 8 times hoping for the best pizza in Albany however tonight was the absolute worst never coming close to even good. Burnt burnt burnt and I don’t understand why delivery always takes so long as we live 5 minutes away. Pizza was cold burnt and very unsatisfactory

This place really angered me today. I ordered a Family Special which is a 12 cut and 20 wings for 23.95. This is on their website under «specials». I asked for 10 mild and 10 hot for the wings (I assumed they wouldnt charge extra for splitting the flavors, and they never told me that on the phone) and added sausage on the pizza which should have been 1.75 extra. Well once I get there they charged me 35 bucks?! It should have been with tax 27.76. Come to find out they charged me more for the 2 flavors of wings and their special is now 25.95 which is on their printed menu. I asked them «what about the 23.95 on your website?» The reply was «Oh that’s old». I was like «What are you going to honor?» And he pointed to his printed menu. I wasn’t going to make a scene but this was unacceptable. Never again. Honor your mistake Pizza Mare!

Order here at least 3 times a week for our work. If it has bread they will find a way to burn it.

Let me start by saying the pizza is ok … But the restaurant itself is disgusting. When we went in the place had just opened … The whole place smells moldy. The floors are filthy. The prep area is not clean. The guy that made the pizza didnt wear gloves. The dining room is more of the same. The tablecloths are sticky. There was crumbs all over the floor. The bathrooms — a female employee had just smoked a cigarette before I used the restrooms and apparently didnt notice the pee all over the toilet (which I cleaned myself). No toilet paper .for being pizza war champions I would have thought they would be a step up from the rest … Nasty restaurant –ok pizza not a place I would go again.

Been a long time, well pleased customer for 15 years. Its the locals gem. Pizza Wars Champ 2012 and 2013. If there were a Sandwich Wars they would take that too !

I have been there a few times in this year. it’s good for lunch time. 2 slices and soda for under $ 8, you can’t beat it. I like their stuffed pizza and vegetarian pizza. Sauce is not too spicy and over powered, and cheese is not over powered either.

This place is in my neighborhood. I’ve both ordered pizza and sandwiches from here. Their delivery is pretty reliable and the pizza is always hot when it arrives. We normally don’t get one of their specialty pizzas, mostly because the topping selection don’t please everyone in one pizza. That being said, they do have good mushrooms, my pet peeve is a bad mushroom on a pizza. Overall, I’ve been pretty pleased with the pizzas I’ve had.
One night when moving we decided to come eat in the place. I went for the steak sandwich. It was ok, but nothing to write home about. The husband went with a sausage and pepperoni calzone. It was an interesting shape as it really was dough wrapped around the fillings, not a normal style calzone. It wasn’t bad, just different. The sauce that came with the calzone was a bit sweet for my taste.
Oh and if you sit in the restaurant area, they have little TVs at each table. It’s nice if you want to catch some news or a game while you’re eating there, but I imagine if all of them were going it would get quite loud. Overall, it’s a solid place to get a pizza if you’re in the area.

Well made crust with good level of cheese. Slightly odd flavor, which seems to be too much basil and oregano in the sauce. The sausage didn’t come together with the rest of the slice. I’ll go back and have a few different flavors and see if this is their norm or they can do better.
Nice place, nice people, looks better than I had. Worth a second outing.
