The 2 stars are for their chicken teriyaki & vanilla milkshake, which were pretty tasty.(Around $ 10 for the entrée & shake) If it wasn’t for that, I would happily give this place 1 star for SHADY service! I asked if they had brown rice & they said yes. I stepped away & the sample lady had my food all ready to go on a tray with a penguin? Design on it when I came back. She happily handed it to me. I take a bite of the rice, thinking wow, they used long-grain brown rice, Fancy! Take another bite, why does it taste salty? Look at it closer, it’s White Rice tossed with Soy Sauce! & there was a pea in it– did they just use some of their fried rice for this? I go back to the counter & ask, actually very politely, if I can have white rice instead. She gives me no problem & seems to have seen it coming. I Was Not going to continue eating salt on salt. I start asking her in Cantonese(they are Mandarin speakers!) why they are mixing white rice with soy sauce & if they don’t have brown rice, why not just say so. Dang, the mainland Chinese workers must be desperate for customers. What if I was diabetic.

Best place in Colonie Center to eat. For 4.99 you get a big portion, always hit and fresh, sushi always good, and service always awesome, never had a bad meal here.

This is my go to place whenever I eat in the Colonie Center. It’s prepared to order and the food is always very yummy(albiet a bit greasy). It’s also pretty cheap($ 4.99 for lunch special) and it’s better than many of the other selections around. If you’re looking for a filling, yummy, and quick meal while shopping or before a movie, this will definitely serve your needs.

Best sushi around! And that being said by someone who has been to Japan! Well made, fresh ingredients; absolutely fantastic. Beats Koto experience in both cost and quality. Don’t let the food court evironment detour you. For local sushi, Oyishi is an absolute must.

Usually I LOVE the free samples. As Ticia enlightened us earlier, good free samples are not always a guarantee of a good main dish. So when I took a sample from Oyishi, I was expecting a sweet and salty delightful little morsel to tide me over until I could get something better. What I was not expecting was to eat something SO disgusting that I was compelled to go to Aunt Annie’s pretzels downstairs to buy a $ 3 pretzel to get the taste out of my mouth. I had not planned on writing this up. I was going to let the whole incident pass. But I read Ian W’s review, and felt compelled to offer an opposing experience. Maybe I got unlucky. Or maybe someone was trying to teach me a lesson about«sampling» when I have no intention of buying. Either way, I’m staying away from this place.

Free sample? Free sample? You want free sample? Sure thing! There’s usually someone near the counter of Oyishi Japan giving out free samples of teriyaki chicken. After shopping at Colonie Center, this is a good quick place for teriyaki meals(chicken, beef, & shrimp vegetarian delight), soba(noodles), sushi, tempura, and special bubble drinks and smoothies. It’s similar to Sarku Japan(not in this area), except no MSG is used here. The food is cooked fresh in front of you on the hibachi grill with vegetables, noodles, and meats cooked on opposite ends of the hot grill. The food here tastes decent and I usually get a plate of Chicken Teriyaki($ 4.59), served with hot mixed vegetables over rice, which is a good portion of hot food. Be sure to try the Bubble Tea, a milk tea with tapioca balls, which is very smooth and refreshing. The Bubble Tea($ 3.29) is also offered in other flavors such as mango, strawberry, taro, honeydew, watermelon, and papaya.
