I was just there and it was awful! The food was obviously reheated, instead of cooked fresh. It was really sad. I used to love Hong Kong and considerate the best Chinese food restaurant in Albany. Now, I would waste your money.

I enjoyed it for the most part. The Hunan beef wasn’t spicy at all like stated. The soup was ok! Service was good!

Great little resturant, stopped in for lunch while shopping in the area, everyone ordered lunch specials and were impressed with the speed and the quality of food, the egg rolls in particular. Nothing I would change and everyone left with doggie bags… which for lunch portions is impressive. Staff was friendly as well and helped point us in the right direction food selection and local points of interest wise as well.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. This used to be the best place to get Chinese food in the area. I have eaten here several times over the years and the food was great. Now the food is bland with no flavor at all. My wife and I ordered different things but both entrees tasted the exact same. Not spending anymore money here…

Best Chinese place I’ve tried in Albany. Everything was delicious. I got sesame chicken and chicken fried rice. Price was very reasonable and service was excellent. I highly recommend.

Eating here again for the several dozenth time. I usually get the same thing, beef w vegetables, it’s what I judge all Chinese restaurants by(if you can’t get that right, something is wrong). Today, however, I wanted to try another dish. It was lunch time(between 11am-3pm), the entrée portions are a little smaller & prices a little cheaper, but also includes an egg roll & choice of soup(hot & sour, wonton, & egg drop). After browsing the menu for a min, I decided on Kung Pao Shrimp & Scallops. It was very good.

Poor service and no fortune cookies is this place’s demise. First impression was the dim lights and the bare walls; basically the interior was boring. Our waitress was nice but she couldn’t tell the difference between diet and regular cokes and continually mixed them up. Food wasn’t bad and it was a good amount of food; however, the food is nothing to get excited about. This is the first Chinese place I’ve ever been to that didn’t give me a fortune cookie on my way out. If you have the choice go somewhere else.

It is good, but not as good as it used to be. May be ownership or chef changes, but not the best Chinese food in Albany, although much better than average. Very good hot and sour soup…

A+ right out the door! Fantastic food and great service. I had the shrimp curry and loved it. It had great spice and flavor behind it. No greasy mess. It’s hard to find a great place like this.

Food is good, possibly the best Chinese in Albany(tried the Kung Pao and Spicy Chicken, both were good). The service? Meh.

I have eaten here a number of times, and have called in pick up orders. I’ve never been disappointed. The fried dumplings and tempura shrimp are my favorites. I plan to continue going here as long as I live in Albany. Want some really good food at an affordable price? Dine here and you will not be disappointed.

I do not see how this place gets such great reviews. Its not good. Not even close. No flavor, no taste, very bland. If there aren’t any Asians running the place and you got Latinos working the kitchen, um not a 4 star place people. HERRO!!! But for people of Albany who probably never had REAL chinese, this will due.

Hong Kong Café is one of those anomalies for me. I’ve never been a huge fan of the place, but it’s never really been for one particular reason. I’m not overly impressed with the food there, but it’s never been bad. The service has never been particularly great, but it’s never been bad. I have had their curry a couple of times and it is surprisingly decent. They do serve some pickled vegetables before the meal and generally give you some kind of soup. They will also serve you some little crunchy bits that you can eat with some red sauce they have. It’s not really a duck sauce I think, but something like it. It’s a hole in the wall kind of place in the middle of parking lot near an Alltel. It’s not in a particularly great location. The atmosphere inside is kind of dark most of the time. I would say if you generally like Chinese food then you should probably give it a shot. I know it has received several awards in the past for being a great place to eat. I’ve just never really been a fan. I wouldn’t let that hold you back from trying it, though.

The food carries this review. The décor of the place is what you would expect from a strip mall Chinese food place. The wait staff is loud. The food makes it worth the trip. I had a combo of shrimp fried rice and Gen Tso chicken. Both came out fresh and very good. Would eat here again and recommend to others.

We’d been hiking @ Providence Canyon all morning and also spent a few hours at the Riverquarium that afternoon without eating. It was now about 4 o’clock and our last meal was about 7:30 a.m. before leaving our hotel for the day. Not a good idea!!! I was in the grumpiest of moods as I fought a serious hunger headache and everything seemed to get on my nerves. I didn’t like anything, from how empty the place was to the aqua blue color of the walls. My OCD nature even hated the amount of clutter on the walls and several pictures were unlevel(I felt like I was having a Monk attack). To top it all off I thought it was a buffet… but I was wrong. Too hungry to go anyplace else we stayed and ordered our food. * SHRIMP&LOBSTERSAUCE — I did mention I was grumpy right? Well, I didn’t like the way it looked when it came out(sorry, no pics because my iPhone died). It looked like slop on a plate to me and to add insult to injury, I don’t care for white lobster sauce. Question: When did imitation meat become an acceptable substitution for«lobster»? The waitress(poor thing was so patient) asked if I wanted something else from the kitchen but at this point I was too wired to wait any longer to eat. Well, after sampling my dish and putting my massive mood aside, I actually began to enjoy it. It was quite tasty and quickly brought me from savage Neanderthal to a civilized human being. Everything else we ordered was also very good: * EGGROLLS — We tried both the Chicken and Veggie egg rolls. We enjoyed them so much that we ordered a second round of each. * CRABRANGOON — Crispy with nice flavor. Perfect stuffing to dough ratio. * SESAMECHICKEN — Our kids cleaned their plates if that says anything. * SHRIMPFRIEDRICE — What I appreciated most was that nothing was dry about this dish. The rice was perfectly cooked and the shrimp, egg & veggies weren’t overdone. * VEGGIESTIRFRY — My hard to please wife inhaled this like a Dyson vacuum. Not sure if it was THAT good or if I just took too long to feed her! LOL THEVERDICT Lots of claims this place is the best Chinese food in Albany, including a sign on the front window. I don’t know about that, but we did enjoy our meal here and the brown sauce they offer as a condiment makes just about anything taste fantastic. Be sure to get a bowl of it for dipping.

Hong Kong Café is the best restaurant I have been to in Albany Georgia. Some times it is hard to find a good restaurant in a small town, so I felt lucky when I found Hong Kong café couple months ago. Since then, dining here becomes one of my daily routine. The staff are super nice and the food is delicious. I love the shrimp fried rice, curry fish and sweet and sour soup. The chef knows how to turn the ingredient into delicious food.

Loved the taste, portions, price, friendly staff and cleanliness of the restaurant. My kids and I had the: House Special Fried Rice(Shrimp, beef, chicken roast port), Kung Pao Shrimp & Scallops and the Four Seasons Sizzling Platter(shrimp, chicken, beef, mushroom, water chestnuts, carrots, baby corn, snow peas and bokchoy)… All were delicious! Lunch is served Monday — Saturday from 11am to 3pm. All lunches served with egg roll, fried rice and choice of soup(egg drop, won ton or hot & sour). There is a note that on take out orders there will be a $ 1.00 extra charge. The lunch menu starts from $ 5.29 to $ 5.99. If you order from the dinner menu prices start from $ 7.99 to $ 15.99! They have a wide selection of dishes to choose from and I am sure you’ll find a Chinese dish that will fill up your craving of the moment.
