Friendly service, great menu. Great brews(beer), moderate pricing. .Lunch we had: the gobbler: fresh cut turkey on ciabatta bread over stuffing topped with cranberry sauce, and cheese, the Mediterranean wrap, filled with tabula salad, humus, tomatoes, olives, feta cheese, felafel, fish and home made chips, onion rings with assorted dips, the pump house burger and mini sliders from the kids menu. All sides are homemade. Good portion sizes, fresh and tasty, nicely presented. We enjoyed all except the side of coleslaw which we thought was made with way too much vinegar. Great place in downtown Albany off the beaten path. We would certainly eat there again!

Absolutely love this place. Great food and friendly staff. Great selection of beers brewed on site. Quesadillas were the best I’ve ever had. I wish I lived closer

Went with a business party of six on a Tuesday and had a great dinner. Drank several selections and liked the wee heavy to get the appetite rolling. The Scallop dinner was unique and satisfying. Scallops were not mushy and the veggies cooked right(sauté zucchini). Well done! Everyone left with a thumbs up. Definitely recommend! Nearby bars hit up as well: Olde English Pub and the German haus add a nice variety to the area as well. Check them out too, just had drinks at those. Cheers!

Great place to eat and drink. The food was awesome and we really appreciated Randi ’ s expertise with the beer. The pump station burger was delicious. We had the beer flight and ended up getting pints of the Quakenbush Blonde, Dawn’s dry stout, and India Pale Lager. Old Musty was the ACBW choice — aged 3 years, 11% and outstanding. Randi went above and beyond, even took our picture.

I like the atmosphere of the pub station it’s what you would expect at a brewery. I love the pub station burger with a side of battered fries really delicious and filling. I got it with the Kick-ass brown ale which was good to the pallet. My wife got the fish and chips platter and it was huge and she loved it. Our wait staff was on point and very friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely come back and bring friends especially if you love beer and company.

Bar patron only, but I enjoyed the beer quite a bit. That’s pretty much all I need from a brewpub, brew.

First off: Get the crab and lobster mac n cheese, it won’t disappoint. I’ve been to APS4 – 5 times and only on my last trip did I splurge(calories and dollars!) on the lobster and crab Mac n cheese. Wow! It was definitely worth it. The APS burger and sweet potato fries are another favorite. I haven’t been disappointed yet!

Solid place to grab a burger and beer in Albany. I went here with my husband on the drive to Binghamton for a family event. We had a short wait, which wasn’t a surprise since it was dinner time on a Friday. I enjoyed an IPA while we waited. Once seated, we were promptly waited on and our server was friendly and helpful. We ended up splitting the apple bacon burger and the mango chicken sandwich. I also enjoyed a couple more beers with dinner, the APL, which I enjoyed and the stout, which I found to be a little too sweet for my taste. Our sandwich and burgers were delicious and filling. I loved the mango chutney on the chicken sandwich. Fries were tasty too. Altogether, it was a cool spot to check out. It’s pretty typical bar food for the most part, but they also had some unique specials and entrees(it appears that they have a bit of an Eastern European flare).

Located right off the highway, nearly underneath it, the Pump Station is a great place for a burger and beer. The beer is brewed on site and there is a pretty wide variety of types from light beer to IPA and stouts. Each are good, though I’m especially partial to nitro stouts and theirs is delicious. On a particularly cold winter day, the large warehouse like space was uncomfortably cold, even with a big gas fireplace going, and most patrons had to leave their coats on. The burger was quite tasty with good meat flavor that shone through the variety of toppings. The onion rings are massive and very tasty as well. The beer has won several awards for good reason.

Always delicious. My husband ordered stuffed chicken and I ordered the gobbler. C.H. Evans beers on tap. You can’t go wrong dining here. I strongly recommend that guests make reservations in advance for Friday and Saturday nights. The restaurant is VERY busy on the weekends!!!

Same great service and food I’ve had in the past few visits(see my previous review). The French Onion soup is still my favorite: bubbly swiss cheese, a balance of caramelized onions and croutons, not overly salty. The Thai peanut wings greater than sriracha honey beer glaze wings just because I love peanut butter like a fat kid loves cake… but really because they were more juicy and flavorful. The lobster and shrimp mac n cheese was a creamy blend of seafood in an alfredo sauce that was nicely coated with panko, large shrimps and bite sized lobstah chunks. No room for dessert this time. Our server Joseph was friendly and attentive, while the lunch hour was packed. Great job… will be returning to grab a drink or fill a growler and some more! The only thing is I felt quite thirsty after an hour or so after the meal… was there a lot of MSG used? Not sure, but still a great place for food and drinks.

I was between a 3 and 4 here but the burger was quite good so it bumped it up in my mind. We came during a busy lunch service and initially were told it would be 30 – 45 min but when we were about to turn around and walk out the manager quickly stepped in and said I can get you a table sooner if you’d like to wait at the bar… smart! We only had to wait about 5 min before they were able to seat us. We started with the chicken tenders app, the breaking was a little different, not as crispy and light as my beloved wings at my go-to place. I ordered the Southwestern chicken salad which was surprisingly very good. The chicken was perfectly grilled and coated with this spicy flavorful coating. Really quite phenomenal. My husband ordered the pump station burger which was admittedly a little dry but big and flavorful! It’s honestly big enough to serve two people. Fries were ok, but the burger was the main attraction. Service was friendly but slow. 1.5 hrs in and out. Definitely worth trying the burger and salad!

Beautiful historic building. The list of current brews, including the current cask ale, at the entrance hint that these folks are serious about their beer. The pints that follow support this hypothesis. The menu had a wide enough variety to please anyone without being too big to execute well. This clearly paid off, as the food was … Amazing. I had their Havana burger and it was delicious. Big, juicy burger topped with ham and pulled pork on a soft brioche bun. Perfect pub burger. My colleague had pulled pork over scalloped potatoes. Huge portion and he was clearly in culinary heaven. The atmosphere was casual and inviting. Service was exceptional. At the end of the evening we came out to ~$ 30 each for dinner and a couple beers. Seemed like an exceptional value to me. Definitely a must-visit in Albany.

There was a time when going out for dinner and drinks meant going to the Pump Station. This was my go-to destination when dining with out of town guests, dates, or just a place to hang with friends. The combination of local craft beer and creative pub food, all served in a super interesting environment made the Pump Station a true favorite. However, in recent years, this location has slipped in quality across the board. During my most recent trip in November 2015, I found the restaurant to be mostly empty. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but is a drastic difference from the days when facing a 30-minute wait for a table was the norm. The vibe, which had formerly felt so alive, now felt rather sleepy. For dinner, I ordered the Pump Station Burger, something I’ve had a few times in the past. This burger left a lot to be desired. The overcooked patty was absolutely drowning in cheese, with one single piece of burnt bacon sinking in the puddle. The soggy bun and over-spiced dressing all played a role in making this sandwich beyond disappointing. The lone saving grace of the meal came in the form of a house-brewed stout, which was rich and malty and really hit the spot on a cool fall evening. I am very disappointed to report this experience to the Unilocal community. As a former fan of this location, I now intend to avoid the Pump Station at all costs. There are just too many other excellent restaurants within a mile of this spot to waste your time, money, and appetite on anything at the Pump Station.

Just ok for me… I’ve dined here a few times in the past and was satisfied with my choices(nothing to rave about), but this review will be based on a rehearsal dinner that was conducted here on a weeknight. From what I understood, we had a reservation at 7 in their secluded banquet/party area. However, when we walked in, we were seated in the main dining room in two long rectangular tables with high top seating. This isn’t exactly ideal for ladies in cocktail dresses, and some elderly folks who were in our party of about 30 people. Everyone ordered off of the menu, so of course the 2 waitresses who took our orders weren’t exceptionally fast, and the food itself took almost an hour to come out. I’m not sure if this was poor planning on the hosts part, or the restaurant messed something up, but the situation just wasn’t ideal for the event. People were expecting to eat shortly after arriving, so when we had to sit and wait to place an order and then wait that long for food, we weren’t happy! I ended up getting the smothered pork dish, which had some pretty great flavors, BUT was a little bit too much meat for my taste. The dish lacked balance, and greenery… there were scalloped potatoes at the bottom of the dish, but some were cold. Only the ones directly underneath the pulled pork were warm. The dish was also slathered with chipotle ranch, which was certainly tasty, but to me, didn’t really fit in with the dish. Overall, the experience left something to be desired for me. I was underwhelmed with the foods I saw others eating as well. A couple of folks in my party got sandwiches/burgers with fries, and there was a lot of bare space on the plates. Just looked like they were lacking something. I think I would go back, but stick to pub style food — the chicken wings I saw someone order looked delicious, and if you are into craft beers, you can’t go wrong.

I wanted to try the 1830s Albany Ale recipe that had been uncovered. My wife was interested in trying a Taster since it had been quite awhile since she had any of the brews from the Pump Station. So that’s exactly what we did. The Albany Ale did not taste like any other ale that I could recall, yet it was not that different from the true ales that we drink today. As it warmed up, I warmed up to it. My wife had the Evans Ale Sampler, eight 3 oz. glasses of the brews with a yellow dot next to their name. This gave her a reasonable taste of everything from their blond, wheat, lager, and stout to the ale that I had been drinking. Btw, she thought the 1830 Albany Ale had a grassy/earthy taste.
