This is such a lovely gallery. I used to come here often when it was Adamé, but one can only buy so much art. They have a fine collection of framed photography, lovely turned wood bowls, wooden boxes and the most gorgeous wooden music stands I’ve ever seen. They have jewelery, silk and woven scarves and lots of ceramic pieces. This morning I broke the hand thrown ceramic soap dish in the front bathroom, so I’m on a mission to find a replacement. They didn’t have quite what I was looking for, but a beautiful scarf did call my name and I bought it. I didn’t dare linger over the jewelry, as I’m so easily tempted. The proprietor was friendly, as was the resident cat who was curled up on the desk. Overhead Mozart played on the sound system and in all it made the gallery a warm and comfortable refuge from the grey drizzle outside.

When I walked in a guy greeted me in a very friendly manner. I love this gallery! I will definitely keep checking the place out periodically as they change exhibits. The gallery has reasonably priced items that are made by local artists. I love Yoshiko Yamamoto’s cards and prints, and Jonathan Eden’s photographs. I bought a wonderful salad bowl by John Doyen I use every evening. I definitely recommend you to check this place out!

Beautiful art, wonderful service… I love this place! I have most of the art in our home framed from here– they do a beautiful job of picking out just the right mat/frame combination. They’re so friendly and helpful.

Nice atmosphere, friendly people running it, and beautiful art. I especially love the photography. I bought a beautiful photo of Yosemite Valley that happily graces my dining room. I often stop by just to look at what’s new and revisit works I enjoyed last time.

I have been taking photography lessons since almost 4 months with Michael and it has been such a wonderful experience. He is such an amazing and experienced photographer., I was a total beginner and didn’t know anything about cameras and he was very kind to advised me what to buy. The class is so fun, since the place is in Solano Av. we go to take short walks and take pictures and then come back to the studio and work on them(he even teaches how to use photoshop) I am so happy about getting my first pic printed and I will learn how to frame it also. The gallery is very nice, you can see hundreds of amazing photos which are at a good price. they also have a great collection of jewelry and other art work from local artist such as, pottery, glassware, sculptures, post cards. Sometimes they have exhibitions on Fridays nights.

The team of Michael Williams(photographer) and Susan Williams(potter) have owned and operated the Albany Arts Gallery since 1990. It’s on the corner of Solano and Marin in Albany and is in the same building as Café Sophia and right next to the seasonal pumpkin and Christmas Tree sales. The gallery specializes in unique art work created by local artisans, as well as Michael’s photographs of Nepal and the Sierra Nevada and Susan’s high fire porcelain. A number of these artists have shown their work at the gallery for many years. Susan and Michael also give classes in their studios which are located behind the gallery. The Albany Arts Gallery is an attractive and well-appointed space. I have always been impressed with the selection, the competitive pricing and of course the knowledge, friendliness and enthusiasm that Michael and Susan bring to their profession.
