I highly recommend the Ahi Tuna Burrito. It’s a good size, delicious, and fresh.

I finally decided to try this place which looked pretty decent. I ordered a burrito and was not asked what kind or what size or anything. I vaguely remember telling the cashier I wanted steak and sour cream and cheese along with whatever else a supreme burrito contained. She smiled and seemed to know exactly what I wanted. I was very happy thinking I’d be enjoying a delicious burrito. I was not given chips or salsa. I was hoping that when I got my burrito I would. Nope, got my burrito all alone. As I started eating my burrito I realized it was pretty much all sour cream. It was loaded with sour cream and I couldn’t taste anything else. I needed hot sauce really bad but all this place has is bottled tabasco sauce. I also needed chips. Burritos here are a complete joke and they disgrace Mexican food. With the name that they have I would imagine there burritos to at least be ok. I know it is far but if you want a real Mexican delicious burrito try best burritos in el cerrito. Very worth the extra drive.

I ordered a carnitas burrito. The finished product was sort of like a giant Taco Bell rice and bean thing. There was a tiny bit of nicely worked carnitas at one end of the sucker, right where the guac was also applied. My wife ordered a Thai-themed burrito with shrimp. Lots of rice and cabbage! She was underwhelmed, and the left overs have been in the frig for two days. The staff was distracted, calling out my name, putting the order on the counter and walking away. No smile, no thank you. Really?

I came here with my sweetheart quite sometime ago after quite the exhilarating(and nauseating AF for those of us with occasional vehicle motion sickness issues) up and down from the highest points of California’s Mount Diablo. After doing something terribly mortifying in High-Tech Burrito’s parking lot that occurred as a result of said motion sickness(lol) my beau and I ordered grilled chicken burritos here. We were both pretty ravenous and the other options on this strip didn’t look particularly exciting. High Tech Burrito(made me chuckle with their name) doesn’t have a lot of «high tech» things going on, but their décor and ambience is like a slightly campier/rustic Chipotle and their food was fantastic. Not just fantastic because we were starving, but actually quite a good burrito in its own right. Very good portion size too! I will definitely look this place up and come back next time I’m in the neighborhood.

The street tacos were ok. Had one pork and one chicken. I prefer Wahoo tacos for street tacos. The mild salsa was yummy. I had a chicken quesadilla too. Nothing special. Was able to use the Unilocal coupon for ordering a combo meal!

I am the Duke of HTB in Alamo and have been a regular the last four years. The portions have dropped tremendously and the food is no where what it used to be. My last few visits I went back to my old staple, the«Godzilla». It is supposed to be their signature burrito filled with steak and chicken, beans, etc. I have ordered this item on a few separate occasions, and did so purposely as the amount of protein appeared to have been much less than prior visits over the years. This last time I ordered the Godzilla burrito, it was 90% beans and I counted two pieces of steak and two or three small chunks of chicken. So disappointing as I am used to getting good value at this location. I order the itty-bitty bean burritos for the kids, and they are now the size of oversized magic markers. So sad in size and again disappointing! I sent an Email to HTB via their website a few times with no reply from corp management. I really believe the store managers have been told to scale back on portion amounts in a likley attempt to raise profits. I cannot believe that I am being forced to leave a one star rating for my favorite local fast food place, but it is so justified, unfortunately.

Have enjoyed this place but it started to become terrible. Returned much later and found burritos tasted much better. Maybe different management. Then the most recent trip late December 2015 ordered a carnitas and burrito was 99% rice, probably about 2 cups worth. Giant difference from what one should have received for 8.95 per burrito. Very expensive 2 cups of rice and no carnitas. Terrible let down. Called manager, he said nothing, so I hung up. Like their menu if it is truly served!!!

Since my last review, I decided to give High Tech two more attempts after being assured of some quality control improvement. The first visit a little more than a month ago, I placed an order online for a regular Chicken Burrito w/Chips and Salsa, and a Cajun Chicken bowl. My original complaint was the burnt chicken, but I’m glad this complaint was addressed. The chicken is no longer burnt — at least from what I could see, because there wasn’t much chicken breast at all in the burrito. When I went to pick up the order, I had not realized the employees had forgotten to place the chips and salsa in the bag until I arrived home. At first, I thought it was my fault that I didn’t check the bag before I left. Until I decided to pay a second visit tonight. I placed an order online tonight for a Steak Burrito with double steak(I learned from last time), no cheese, hot salsa on the side, and add lettuce, tomato, cilantro, onions, avocado, and an order of chips and salsa with salsa on the side. I also ordered a grilled chicken burrito bowl. I went to pick up the order, and when I got home I noticed the employees had forgotten the chips and salsa AGAIN! The grilled chicken burrito bowl was pretty tasty, but instead of grilled chicken breast like the first time, this burrito bowl had chicken thighs. Apparently, they now offer chicken thigh or chicken breast. This is reflected on their menu, but NOT on the online ordering site. Had I known, I would have opted for chicken breast over chicken thighs. I couldn’t taste the salsa, but on the plus side, there was a pretty good amount of chicken(although it runs an additional $ 1.50). The biggest disappointment was the steak burrito. The burrito had a ton of steak, and the standard lettuce and rice and beans, but no tomato, cilantro, onions, tomato or avocado. There was no hot salsa, on the inside nor on the side. There was also no chips and salsa on the side for the second time. Seems to be a consistent issue here. So, with that being said — quality has gone up. However, employees should mark the receipt or do something to point out if an online or phone order needs something additional such as an order of chips and salsa, or something that is supposed to be in the bag and isn’t. As for why the steak burrito tonight didn’t have the avocado, cilantro, tomato, onions or salsa that I ordered — I have no idea. I would probably come back again, but will only order a burrito bowl instead of a burrito in a tortilla. I like the idea of being able to see the food to make sure everything is there, versus a burrito wrapped in foil that I won’t know if it’s missing anything until I get home and open it up. In the future, I will have to pay more attention to whether or not the order is missing chips and salsa.

I keep hoping things will improve. I am a vegan and sadly it feels like the vegan options are mainly brown rice. Tofu is often sparse in comparison to what I observe meat eaters getting. Today I ordered a yellow curry with tofu in a bowl and no cilantro garnish. It had the cilantro and I refused it. The second attempt had some tofu, but mostly rice and tomato. Squash was also sparse. Ordering with no rice translates to smaller serving. The idea of this place is great the actuality not so much.

This place is pretty good. I get the surf and turf! Shrimp and steak… mmmmhmmm yum! It’s not authentic Mexican, it is more Americanized like chipotle. Otherwise, pretty good burritos.

$ 7.50 for a burrito I finished in 4 minutes… and I have a small appetite. Very mediocre and bland… with barely any meat They couldn’t even include sour cream…“it’s extra“ Just a complete rip off. The employees were friendly though.

First time coming here and will not be doing so in the future. First of all, cashier talked so fast that I couldn’t understand a word she said and had to ask her to repeat herself multiple times. I ordered a breakfast burrito with the soda and chips combo(with guac) for $ 10.25. The mr pibb was disgusting so asked if they could change it because it had no carbonation and took them forever to do that. When they called out my order, they said the wrong name. Don’t know how you mispronounce«Becca» or mishear it? So I got my order to go and once I got to my destination, realized the breakfast burrito I ordered had green onions even though I specified for there not to be. The burrito itself is NOT worth what I paid. Absolutely mediocre, no flavor at all and kinda soggy. Wouldn’t recommend this place if it was the last restaurant on earth!

Felt the need to update my review as some of the quality issues at HT have been resolved. Still a weekly stop, the chicken street tacos are classic and kids love the itty bitty burrito. Wish they offered a larger drink option! Still need to be consistent with the quality of the guacamole but overall a fair value for better quality fast food.

This is an update from my first review. I ordered a custom burrito, with chicken, avocado, Spanish rice, black beans and avocado verde salsa. This burrito was way better than the first one, but I was still not impressed. There was overcooked hard rice that hurt when I bit into the burrito a few times, the chicken isn’t the best quality. However the avocado salsa was amazing! I would get the burrito again just because of the salsa. But overall I still believe 8 dollars is a lot for an okay burrito.

Worse burrito I’ve had in years! Very bland and sloppy. Gringo certified! I ate half and dumped it into the trash where it belongs. Go to a real taqueria. This place sucks!

I always get a grilled chicken burrito bowl with all of the free additions(lettuce, onion, cilantro etc.). I love this place bc the staff is friendly and they serve the food quickly. The veggies are very fresh.

I always enjoyed going to high tech burrito it brings back memories from my time as an employee. I work fot them for 3 years at 2 different locations Berkeley and Alamo. As an ex employee I know first hand the quality of the food, everything is freshly made, with high quality ingredients. The food can be a little pricy more than what you’re used to pay at your local taco truck but is worth it. If you ever near by give them a try and you will not be disappointed… Surf and Turf, Cajun Chicken, Quesadillas and Fajitas are a must try.

I love High Tech– it’s one of the few places I actually get a craving for. I always get the Itty Bitty Beanie with Onions, Sour Cream and Cilantro added. Delish and cheap, not to mention filling. My bf love the Nuclear salsa(I think it’s WAY too hot) Also love that the Tapatio is on every table here! Checking in gets you a free soda
