That Double Rainbow ice cream looks ten years old. The edges look dried up and you can’t read the window labels telling you what they are. I’ll bet if the health department dated it they’d find it was a couple of months old sitting open in that case.

I never eat fast food and thus avoided Subway for years due to the thought that any chain restaurant that claims to use fresh ingredients must be lying. However, this Subway proved my theory wrong. The food was good and the service was friendly. It seemed really clean inside too, which is a welcomed change in contrast to most fast food locations. The owner clearly knows what they’re doing. I’ll be back. PS: Tip these guys! They need it!

This subway is a nice Subway. It has great service. The people were nice compare to other Subways in Alameda. The place inside is big.

PROS: clean facilities, fresh food, spacious. Employees maintain friendly attitude even when you enforce weird, ultra specific instructions with the passion of a North Korean dictator. CONS: Eating a foot-long with extra dressing each day has not helped me lose weight, despite what the Subway commercials would have you believe.

I haven’t visited a Subways in ages… why? usually, the staff isn’t very friendly(in Hayward) and the sandwiches are ‘ok’. Decided to have a sammich today and glad i gave it another chance. This Subway is exceptionally clean, organized, friendly and makes a good sandwich. Ordered the foot long roast beef($ 1.50 more than 6 «)with everything(massive veggies… lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, olives, peppercini, jalapenos, onions, along with oil and vinegar… just a tasty sandwich on freshly baked bread. Will definitely return even though driving from Oakland for lunch. Model Subway location!

This location deserves a nice rating. The atmosphere is very spacious and big plus a small patio; it’s probably the biggest subway I’ve been to. Service was friendly and fairly quick. Also they have ice cream.

This Subway is actually better than a three star rating(3.5 stars). Most of their sandwiches are okay with the veggies(lettuce, tomatoes, bell peppers, sliced cucumbers, red onions, olives, etc.) and the various dressings(mustard, honey mustard, mayo, ranch, etc.). I am not too much of a fan of Subway with their process meats, so I usually will get a six inch tuna or meatball marinara sandwich on whole wheat roll. The ½ star is for the cookies and chips. Having Double Rainbow ice cream is a plus, but not enough to warrant a 4 star rating. Ambiance: Very spacious compared to the Subway a few doors from Philz Coffee on the corner of Larkin & Golden Gate Avenue. There are more tables and chairs. It’s not as crowded as some of the Subways I have seen. Cleanliness: No litter on the floor, no sticky tables, it’s pretty much organized. Chips are either in front of the order window or on the rack. Bottled beverages are in a refrigerated case. Service was prompt and the two employees were cordial. One handles the cash register, while the other prepares the sandwiches. The only bad thing was I did not know my husband wanted a pastrami sandwich from here. I should have kept all those coupons from those junky ads that I get in the mail on Tuesdays. I always toss them out(Burger King, Jack in the Box, Carl’s Jr., Subway).

We have been to this location many times over the years, average of once a week, and never been motivated to write a review before tonight. They have a so-so track record. They 2 times out of 5 give the wrong cheese, or put mayo on when we’ve asked for none. But it is quick and relatively decent so we keep going. But tonight my husband went at 9:18 and they were closed. They sign on the door says 9:30 pm. To me, that means they close at *9:30* pm. Not 9:18, or ever 9:29. He knocked on the door and they ignored him. I get that you don’t want people to sit in the dining area at closing, but we were ordering to go. I called them and asked why they were closed… and they HUNGUP on me! Unfortunately for the teens behind the counter, I happen to have the cell number of the owner from previous bad experiences. Lazy employees lost you loyal customers.

been to many Subways and this place is the only Subway in my opinion the nicest, cleanest and hands down has the best customer service ever! There’s one time I came in during lunch time and this tall cute dark skinned boy was making the sandwich for me I was so indecisive on what to order so he suggested a few things here and there he’s very nice, polite and courteous! BLT + pastrami all the way! thanks Jet for the great suggestion!

Nothing pretentious about the restaurant — just good food, good prices and fast service. Best recommendation; it evidently is one of the locals’ favorites. «Maybe the best enchilada with potato chips I’ve ever had.» — older gentleman at neighboring table. Forget formula sub shops, this local restaurant, Subway, opens up a new medley of flavor with the perfect combination of crunch, heat and fresh locally sourced vegetables grown by contentious objectors. Think you know what to expect from that first bite? I assure you that you do not. It’s like watching«The Wolf of Wall Street» after seeing«Boiler Room.» «It’s like a party in your mouth, and everyone’s invited.» — @FastFoodFoodie Get over to your local Subway before I eat the rest of these.

I’m not a huge fan of Subway in general; the sandwiches just don’t have enough stuff in them. That said, I still find myself there quite a bit for the affordable & fast low-cal lunch. I’ve always found the service at this shop to be very good. It’s a young crew but they’ve always been very friendly and efficient. Today I had a large work order that I called in. The girl on the phone was extremely pleasant, professional, and careful to get the order right. The order was ready at the time that I asked for it to be done; so pick up was super easy.

Haven’t been here since 2008. The place gets 4-Stars now… Its cleaner, and has two ppl working the sandwich counter. Got my sandwich faster. Only neg is the parking lot is full, but no customers inside. So parking might be a problem here… so Marina Village will always be my first choice for Subways.

Terrible server attitudes! If you order a tuna on toasted bread, they will make you a tuna melt sandwich. They get a bad attitude when you ask them if they know how to make a tuna on toasted bread. The point is, they think that the customer is never right. Their turkey sandwiches are so skimpy with the portion of meat that the sandwich isn’t very filling. I will never return to this sham of a sandwich shop. The only real sandwich is from Alameda’s Santoro’s delicatessen . They cost 40% more but are the best. I will never buy a sandwich from Subway !

Not a big Subway fan, but have given this one a couple of chances and have yet to have a good experience. The location is good, but that is about it for the pros. On the cons side, they are very skimpy on the sandwich toppings. The sandwich I had on this visit tasted«off.» The bread was fresh, but the meat, cheese and produce were tired and seemed old, not fresh. Lettuce was soggy and the tomato was mushy. The employees seemed more engaged in conversation with each other rather than focused on serving customers. It would also be nice if they would pay attention to details such as cleaning the legs of the chairs and tables, wipe down the window sills and clean the soda machine and make it spotless. The area where you find soda cup lids, straws, etc. was unorganized and a mess. The trash was overflowing and the outside of the trash recepticle was dirty.

My sandwich had significantly fewer vegetables than the person right behind me(theirs was made by a different employee.) I literally received half a scoop of avocado and 2 slices of cucumber and 2 slices of jalapeño — on a footlong! Furthermore, they were both on the same side. My sandwich order was messed up by the employee and they put the vegetables back into the container where I’m certain they ended up on the next customer’s sandwich, gross! I’m very disappointed with the lack of vegetables on my sandwich. I go to subway 2 times a week and I won’t be visiting this location again.

Good & clean location, friendly and efficient staff. Isn’t that all we need from a sandwich place at lunchtime?

I try to avoid coming to this location, even though I’m a big Subway fan. I don’t shun this place as I do the other one over in the Lucky shopping center. That one sucks. This one has counter people who tend to be nice, but have to sometimes be coaxed to be generous. They refuse to toast my sandwich with the mayo on it, as I like. I don’t have that problem at my all time favorite location on 8th Street in Oakland, or most others I’ve patronized. What’s their problem? The worst thing about this Alameda location is the loud, awful music, which is enjoyed Only by urban teenagers. All you hear is talking and electronic bleeping, with short intervals of actual singing.. .. not a single actual musical instrument ever. It sounds like attending a loud, boring lecture in a video arcade. If you ask, they will turn it down or off for you.. . but I get sick of having to ask. I’ve filled out their little comments/ratings cards about a hundred times, complaining about the music, but nothing changes. Other than that, the place is just fine. Just goes to show how crappy music can ruin a meal.

Establishment is clean, the veggies seem a lot fresher than other Subway chains I’ve been to, all you can drink soda, serves ice cream, and if you want an order of chili cheese fries, they have a connecting enclosed alley to Weinerschnitzel. Bathroom’s not as clean but has a dual flush or low flush toilet. Save the world!!!

Subway sandwiches always satisfy me, so this review is more for this particular location than anything else… Service was prompt and polite… Place looked cleaner than some others I’ve seen… I’d say«satisfactory.» Inside had waaaay more seating than you’d guess by looking at it from the outside. Pretty cool. An ice cream shop combined with a Subway? Hey, why not?! :) Lastly, and most importantly, I didn’t get sick after eating one of their subs. I’ve puked like crazy after eating Tuna sandwiches from Subway(so I usually get the veggie), so maybe next time I’ll work up the nerve to try this location’s tuna one… Baby steps… Conclusion: I’d come back, and I guess I’m a «fan» of this Subway.
