Great place to eat. Nice view in a real Florida Main Street location. My wife ordered a well done burger and it came rare. In an unusual move, my wife sent it back to be cooked again, and it came back rare again. Not a big deal really but the server brought it to the attention of the manager who gave us her meal free of charge. My burger was cooked to order and very good. The staff were friendly, professional, and very good. I highly recommend this restaurant.

My girlfriend and I were actually trying to find the BBQ place, and we were sad to see it had closed down. But, we were hungry, so we decided to try Conestoga’s out. There is nothing amazing here at first glance and it just kind of reminds you like those large, family-focused restaurants that every mid-American town possesses. We shared the grilled Buffalo chicken salad, and it was great — huge piece of chicken, and homemade sauce. We had a side Caesar salad as our side, and it was good, but the lettuce/greens were huge, and had not been shredded well. Kind of a cool twist to pay the bill next door in the candy/ice cream store.

Conastogas. Filthy. We asked waitress to wash our table as it was greasy. She used the same dirty cloth, twice as we asked if she minded washing it again, and still we were sitting at a dirty table. Our food was smelly. We took a couple bites, tried each others order just to see if it was just one of us that tasted something funny. No, it was the food. The fact the floor, table and chairs were dirty we overlooked that. My dad had been told that he could get a big baked potato there was his draw. So we decided to try the place. I am amazed at how dirty it was, how smelly/icky the food was. .. I don’t know. All 5 of us decided we would not continue eating our food. Dad ate his potato and left the rest. The salad was sad, sad, sad. I’d call it waste, something you’d throw out, not serve. Gonna give a less than 1 star. Never going back. The waitress got a decent tip, even though

VERYDISAPPOINTED!!! Used to be one of our favorites, don’t know what happened but was a real let down last night! Service greatly lacked, {Heather} our waitress lets hope was new. Otherwise think she needs to change her career. Than after what too an extremely long time food came and think you have some cook issues also! Liver and onions overcooked, steamed broccoli cold and raw. My steak cold and tough, baked potato hard and not done. Fried mushrooms greasy and tasted like cooked in old oil. Just a really bad experience, hope you all step up the game!

We have been coming to Conestoga’s for years and it is always been a favorite. The steaks and huge burgers are the best, well seasoned and dependably cooked just right every time. The stogie jr which is supposed to be a smaller version of the burger is still bigger and better than any other burger around. Love the sides too from the giant baked potatoes, and the salads with the creamy pepper Parmesan dressing to a heaping portion of steak or sweet potato fries. The peanuts on the table, the delectable dessert offerings and the cute little ice cream shop with nostalgic candies makes this restaurant an all around great experience.

We just moved from California to Alachua. We live close to downtown. We were so hungry looking for a place to eat. So decide to give it a try. I am sorry but the steak is the worst. It taste like pure gas yuck! No going back. Not matter how hungry I am. Costumer service was good.

Frank and I stopped into Contestoga’s again after I heard a local mention that the burger there was something to write about and I must say it did was a very good burger. I had the larger burger and I should have asked for the junior because let me tell you, it’s a whole lot of burger. The taste was great and I ordered it medium rare and it arrived perfectly cooked. I will definitely be back for another burger and hope it is consistent. My parents had the mushroom & swiss burger which looked great. Frank enjoyed the steak sandwich and the chili was good as always. I was so happy about getting the window table, but then disappointed because the window table seems to be where the flies hang out. Now I know better… :) We will definitely be back for another burger!

Walked in at 7:20 on a Friday night. It was packed. We got say in the T room which you have to kind of walk through the kitchen to get to. THEREAREPEANUTSONTHETABLESANDFLOORS Our server came and got our drinks pretty quick. I asked for some bread which is delicious!!! It’s basically like Outback bread with Golden Corral honey butter. 2 loaves down already! I ordered the 16 oz ribeye med rare. My wife ordered the chicken stuffed potato. They both came with two sides. My wife tried the Italian Wedding soup and she loves it! So far so good! My steak came out a little rarer than I like but it was very yummy and I LOVE that they have steak fries! My wife absolutely loved the soup and chicken stuffed potato! It was very good and we had a fantastic server. Our bill was around $ 42.00 all in all. My only critiques would be that 1) you have to pay at the ice cream shop which the line can get long. That’s NOT cool at all. May want to change that. Actually that’s about it. Great job. Can’t say we will be back a ton but for a good dinner close to home we will be back sometime soon!

We were traveling through this area and stopped for dinner on the fly. We each had the Senior one side fish, Swai, which is a whitefish. It was very good. My side, a Caesar salad, came right away. The fish and partner’s side of steamed broccoli came a good 20 minutes after we gave the waitperson our order. The broccoli was nicely el dente, served with melted butter. We ate and ran. Service was good. Bathroom clean. Noisy atmosphere. Pics are posted. Charming little three block downtown.

This place was like a 30 minute drive away for me, but it was worth the drive. I was so happy that they served blooming onions! I have been looking for a place that served that! I have only been there once but I was pleased with the burger I ordered. Nice and Juicy! The staff was pleasant, the store was cute, and the town it is in is adorable. I loved how it we had to pay in the candy store that they had because I hate having to wait for the waitress.

Great, Home-Town Restaurant We were traveling south and were near Alachua at lunchtime. We didn’t want the typical highway exit restaurant and we had heard about the Conestoga. It is located on the very pretty main street of town. Conestoga has been around and family owned for many years. And they are obviously supporters of a lot of small-town charities and groups. That is so nice to see. Food was plentiful and tasty. The Stogie burger was huge and delicious. The only problem was that the heavy patty overwhelmed the soft bun and the bottom of the bun turned flat and a bit soggy. A salad entrée was also huge and very good. My only critique would be with the service. It is a little unclear when you wander in if you are supposed to seat yourself or wait. A small sign would have helped avoid uncomfortable confusion. Also, the service was way too rushed. I felt like I was in a diner with everyone on the run. We were given barely a few seconds to place our order and it took a very long time for anyone to check on us and refill waters and such. And the young lady at the cash register barely recognized me or expressed any appreciation for our visit as she spoke through her scowl. Sheesh! I would definitely go back for one of the steaks at dinner. Maybe the servers will be less rushed then.

What a disappointment from what used to be a wonderful steak house. Poor quality steaks, high prices. No more prime rib on the menu. They brag about the marinade they use on all steaks, but if the cut was better, no need for marinade. Cut corners, cut costs, and the meal experience suffers. Overpriced, and they are not sourcing great steaks

This restaurant has remained largely unchanged in the 20 years I have been visiting. It has the same western décor, mostly the same menu/specials, and the same hospitable service. While I’m not a fan of their steaks, they do have a big menu with lots of down home goodness. Their burgers, fried shrimp, sirloin tips, and sides are excellent. They also have an attached ice cream and sweets shop that you have to walk through to pay as you exit. It’s hard to leave without trying one of the old fashioned candies.

Again, another I’ve lived in Gainesville for a long time and have never tried Conestoga’s until now. We see them get advertised on TV all the time. We were in the area and decided to try them. Pleasantly surprised. Service was very good, the atmosphere is old florida style, the food menu selection was surprisingly large, prices were OK not inexpensive or expensive, and the food quality was very very good. This is one local place that lives up to it’s reputation. We had a great dining experience and will definitely be back.

They have good food. The service can be slow, but there are peanuts on the table to fill you up until the waitress comes back. I’ve eaten here many times over the years and find it to be hit or miss(depending on the cook on duty, I suppose). The liver and onions is always a hit with me and has always been cooked properly. The salads are huge, but you can order a half-salad(ha ha, this makes me laugh… a «half-salad») anyway… their salads are based on iceberg lettuce with an array of differing items(depending on the type you choose). It’s a good place to eat while in that neck of the woods, but I wouldn’t make a special trip to Alachua for it. Still, it’s worth the stop if you’re in the area.
