Part two of my U-Haul saga. This was definitely the high point of my experience with U-Haul. I learned that when you do a one-way rental, you don’t get to choose your pick-up location. U-Haul determines where it has a truck and equipment available and they send you there. This spot was more than 10 miles from where we were coming from and not the most convenient; so I was initially not very thrilled, but it turned out just fine. Rick was very professional and courteous. He gave us a call the day before to let us know that he had the truck prepared for us with the dollies and furniture pads we’d requested. On the day of the rental, he had the truck ready for us and gave me his cell phone number in case we had any problems. He even called me later in the day to clarify some questions I’d had about the insurance. The reason this isn’t five-stars is because this isn’t really a U-Haul location, rather it’s a contractor who rents U-Haul trucks as a side-business. As a result, there’s no supplies for sale here. I had to make a separate trip to buy a padlock and some extra cardboard boxes.
