On the front end, let me say that I really appreciate what this guy is trying to do. Eli seems like a really cool guy and local beer is a passion of mine. However, I’m not convinced that everyone who can brew beer ought to be a business owner. Here are a few reasons for the low rating. The beer is okay. I have stopped in a few times to get beer to go, but after a few tries, probably will not be back. Every beer that I have tried has been undercarbonated, which is probably an issue with sugar content and fermenting time. The actual bar/tasting room is severely lacking in every area. The room is, well, just that — a room with a 4-seat bar slapped in the middle and a couple picknick tables. Honestly, it’s a bit gross. There is no food, but you can bring food in. There are great breweries with excellent environments all over the area. With the rising popularity of craft brew, there are way better bars to get a solid beer in a comfortable and clean environment.

Trailhead and Eli(owner, brewer, bartender) are awesome! Not only is their beer selection constantly being updated, but the atmosphere is relaxed and fun. You can start a conversation with anybody there. Every city should have a brewery like this, but unfortunately this may be one of the few. Bring an empty growler and visit!

I frequent this place as I work in the valley. The owner, Eli, seems to be the brewer, janitor, bartender and everything in between. He is very friendly and will talk about whatever you’d like. The beers are constantly rotating(a new one every week), which I love. Mostly unfiltered beers, and many with sizable ABV. All at the right price. FREEPRETZLESANDMUSTARD!!! Or you can bring your own food. Great, laid back atmosphere. Light tunes on a phone dock. Darts? They have em. Very fun local feel, guaranteed to be a good time.

We dropped by today because: 1. Had an hour to kill 2. I drove by it several times and needed to check it out 3. It’s beer So anyway, it’s a laid back atmosphere with like 4 beers on tap, a bunch of hipster types playing darts, and a fat girl customer smoking an e-cig. We had their Christmas Ale which was a nice 9.6% and I also drank my girlfriends because she’s not a beer girl. Some background music would have been nice but I’ll stop by again for sure. Way to bring a quirky little business to Akron.

I have been to quite a few breweries, brew pubs, and tasting rooms. I am an avid brewer myself. Trailhead is a very small(nano) brewery that serves 4 beers on tap at a time. The tap room is small with a few picnic tables and a small bar. The bartender, who is also the brewer, is a young guy who is very courteous, funny, and kind. He provides you and the other customers with a friendly environment to sit down and have a pint. The customers are laid back and cool to talk to. They don’t serve food, but let you order, or bring some in, which is nice. While the operation is simple, the beer, which is served out of mason jars, is good. I highly recommend coming here for a pint or two. They also sell growlers, which is awesome. The cost us generally $ 4 per pint, which for craft beer is pretty cheap. I highly recommend!

Remember that this is just one man’s experience and may not accurately reflect the experience of most visitors to this establishment. That being said, I may not give this location a second try and I say that based on a 45 second experience. On a rare date night without our 9 month old, we enjoyed a nice dinner in the area before deciding to stop at this new brewery for a sample or two. Its a small place and as other Unilocalers mention but there are a few games and a bar. There were 10 – 12 customers there. You can imagine our surprise to have the bar tender yelling from across the room, «We’re out! NO really, we’re out!»… It took me a few moments to realize that he was speaking to us and a few more to understand that he was communicating that they had nothing to drink. I can only assume that is what he meant because that was all that he had to say to us. Keep in mind that there were people sitting and enjoying drinks. My best guess is that this bartender was not the brewer or owner. I have been to dozens of breweries of all sizes over the years. I have never dealt with someone who acted like such an ass. I recommend that you take your business to one of the other breweries in Akron or down the street where they are not«OUT!.»

I’ll keep it quick. Our first stop on a mini brewery tour of Akron. The place is located in a small plaza, lucky we caught the sign outside. It was dead when we went which I prefer. Sampled all 4 beers on tap… a black ipa, rye ipa, winter beer and a gold. I was surprised to find out I enjoyed all 4 very much especially the rye ipa Calvin and Hops. This place is just starting out so it’s very basic inside, but it’s clean, the brewmaster is extremely welcoming and nice, and the beer is damn good! I really hope Trailhead succeeds and with the beer I tasted don’t see a reason why they wouldn’t.

We had a great time at Trailhead. My friend and I went in as we had bridal shower invites to address… and she knew we could sit at a picnic table, drink and do our ‘duty’. The other patrons were so great to chat with and«Eli» was so informative about his beer… and suggestions. At $ 4 a full glass and $ 2 for a half, it was easy to try the 4 – 5 he had on tap. My favorite was a black IPA — ‘O Hoppy Night and the belgians were among the best I’ve had. Great conversations, atmosphere and beer. I will be back.

I’ve been to many breweries and tasting rooms, but this is my first Nano Brewery. While large scale breweries want to manufacture and distribute cans/bottles and kegs to bars, restaurants, and stores… Craft breweries usually concentrate on smaller scale for local distribution to local bars and restaurants, maybe cans or bottles… Nano Breweries like TrailHead are very small scale, running just a few barrels at a time. One of the advantages of going to such a small scale brewer, like TH, is that you can talk to the brewer himself and learn a lot about the process, his recipes, aspirations, or just BS. He’s the only employee, so if you want to know about brewing beer, he’s right there for the asking. The beer: the night we were there, there was a Coffee Stout, Belgian Wit, and a Pilsner. Almost funny to see a pilsner in the line-up, usually you don’t see them on a craft brewery’s menu. Coffee Stout was awesome, and we would have gotten a growler fill, but it blew while we were there. Owner/operator(Eli?) suggested mixing the pilsner and the Belgian, and that was a good combo. Another reason it’s cool to have the brewer also serve, since he’s intimately familiar with the product. The place: not really glamorous, but that’s OK(and sort-of the point). Picnic tables and a small(5 – 6 seat) bar. Air Hockey, and a small iPod player. Chalkboard with 6 or so upcoming beers that are in process. Funny, half-way through typing this review, I got a text from a friend who’s there right now. Anyway, bring an empty growler, go taste some brews, get some to go. Support the second lowest rung on the brewery ladder, just above the Home Brewer.

I love this small brewery being in the valley — It really fits perfect with all the other businesses and bars surrounding it’s location. This brewery has a very calm and relaxing atmosphere. And to the beer… We tried all 3 that were on draft(Belgian /Pale Ale /Stout). All of the beers were very drinkable and even the Belgian at 7.5% — The owner has several new styles coming out soon and we look forward to returning to this haven in the park.

A nice place. It’s a brand new nano brew. All of their beer is still in plastic fermenters. Don’t let that fool you, it is still really good! They have cards, darts and an air hockey table. Plenty of things to do. A nice chill atmosphere. Hope to go back soon to try some new brews!
