INTERNETBUYERBEWARE!!! I arranged to purchase a used car through this branch of Ron Marhofer and was really excited about the great deal I thought I was getting. I paid $ 150 for a one way car rental, went to the bank and got a check issued to Ron Marhofer, and was in contact with Chris at the dealership the whole time. I even double checked that they’d be open for us as we were running a bit late thanks to the bank being slow and causing our 3 hour one way drive to get a late start. Despite having talked to Chris several times during the day, requesting a purchasing order, purchasing insurance for this new vehicle, getting a check from the credit union, and literally being ONTHEWAY there, the dealership sold the car to someone else. Somehow in the hour from when we confirmed our departure, Ron Marhofer chose to show the vehicle to someone else. When we protested that we had already committed to buying the vehicle, we were told nothing could be done. Furthermore, Chris offered no remedy for this situation, and despite a call requesting a follow, I have yet to hear from a general manager or floor manager offering an explanation or apology, must less a reimbursement for my rental fee, which seems only fair given. If you’re looking to arrange a remote purchase with someone in the greater Akron area I recommend Sunnyside Toyota of Lorraine. I arranged an exact version of this deal two years ago with Ron, and he was able to give me a great price and didn’t sell the car out from underneath me after I had committed and was literally driving to it. Cannot say enough about staying away from this place if you’re shopping online.

I did a search on Autotrader for the car I wanted to purchase, and found it for less than the KBB value at this dealership. My family went in with me to check it out, and my father(who has been a mechanic for 30+ years) said it checked out in every area. The entire car buying process was hassle free. Our salesman, Luigi, was friendly and we never felt annoyed, pressured, or that anyone was trying to upsell anything to us. Thus far, I absolutely love my new car, and plan to come back within the next year or two when my husband is ready to purchase a new car as well.

I’m a cheapo, so I researched best prices on the used make and model that I wanted within 200 miles of my home in Pennsylvania. I had a large down payment and preapproved financing, so I was ready to deal. I walked out of several dealerships because I didn’t get what I wanted. A car at Ron Marhofer in Stow, OH, looked nice and was priced great, but had bald tires in its photos. I was going to demand a reduced price. Imagine my surprise when I found new tires already on the car! I bought the car, and it drives and handles perfectly. Andy Ringer went to great lengths to make me happy, and even offered a better rate than the preapproved financing from the credit union I belong to. A sweet deal and a satisfied customer.

I set up an appointment for Friday morning at 7:30 to get the oil changed on my wife’s car. This is great because I have to be to work by 9 and my wife works nights, so this will allow me to get it done for her. So I thought… I arrive at 7:20 and wait at the door until 7:30 for it to be opened so I can drive in. This is acceptable and I have no issues with waiting until the advertised open time. I’m greeted by a half awake staff member and he instructs me to go inside. The service advisor finds my appointment and writes everything up. Now, luckily I decide to confirm that it ‘shouldn’t take too long for my oil to be changed because I have to get to work.’ The service advisor says, that the technicians don’t come in until 8 and then it would be at least 30 minutes after that! Gee, it sure would have been nice to know that when I scheduled my appointment! What other reason would I schedule to come in at 7:30, other than that’s when I want the work to be done! I bit my tongue, let them know that I was going to have to leave and did. So, be aware that while they will let you come in at 7:30am, they don’t actually have the people in place to begin the work until after 8!
