BLUF(Bottom Line Up Front) This estabishment is price gouging and you will loose money and receive poor service. I stopped by this shop the other day because I just picked-up my vehicle at Cutter Ford Service. I was just looking around and maybe picking up a few build items when I noticed the ProtoX-FPV Mini Quad on the shelf. It looked cool and on a spur of the moment I purchased it @ $ 350. I get home and I am looking online to find batteries and to my shock I find that all available sources of this product are nearly half of what this shop sold it to me for( ). Thinking that this was a mistake I called the shop and was told that was the price and I should call back for manager for further questions. So I looked here on Unilocal and I find that nearly all reviews call out the«Over Price» of this shop. Now I can understand how a local business must mark-up items to make a profit, but nearly 100%? My best advice is never buy anything from this shop without checking online first. Even with the addition of shipping cost(many online dealers waive shipping cost if purchases are over a certain amount), you will save a substaintial amount of money rather than buying from this shop. In fact I suggest you don’t patronize this shop at all. The halmark of a quality service is a quality product at a reasonable price with excellent customer service, none of which seem to be the qualties valued by this shop’s owner or staff. Anytime you spend your money at a business like this you validate thier business philosphy and practice, and you deserve better. Since my interests are in RC I suggest you shop at the Hobbietat in Kaimuki( ). Parking is difficult and they also sell fishing products, but they have the largest RC supply on Oahu, at least as far as I am aware. Better yet, shop online for most of you RC needs or let’s have the local RC community develop a Co-op that could purchase needed products and by-pass the local business that are gulity of price gouging.

By far best model shop on island. The kits are a bit overpriced but if you need paint or any other tools this is the best shop I have found on Oahu.

Rude and very unkowledgeable staff, as well as being overly priced. Asked the lady there«do you happen to carry any 1⁄8th scale ESC’s?» Lady responds«uhhhh no.» I look in case and there is multiple very unorganized controllers. Then I ask the guy that has no neck if he knew of any others. He responded with«well if you don’t see them they’re not in there», once I was finally able to get the lady to actually move things around there were others. But happened to be nearly double the average price online, including overnight shipping. I would rather order parts online and have them shipped via ground and wait instead of giving them a dime of my money.

The biggest model store I’ve seen yet on Oahu. The shop is a little on the pricier side but they run lots of discounts. Every day until end of the year — 10% off when you bring your own shopping bag Mondays — 10% military discount Fridays — dice day. Roll 2 die and you get the percentage that it shows. I was told that more info on discounts can be found on their website. Enjoy!

Best hobby shop on Oahu! With decent selections of supplies and model kit. Price is reasonable too.

Hands down the best hobby store on Oahu. More Pinewood derby stuff(pre-cut cars, weights, decals, tuning supplies) than the Scout Shop. They have an amazing selection of Estes rockets, including classroom kits and parts to design your own rocket. Great selection of items for science projects. At least three brands of model paint. I stopped in to browse and had to bring the whole family back that afternoon. The staff was very friendly and helpful and they have plenty of parking.

Nice little hobby/art store tucked away in the Bradley Shopping Center. I was looking for Christmas gifts, and was directed to this place by Jelly’s who didn’t have what I was looking for. This place had what I needed and so much more. Its definitely a geek store. Lots of model planes, cars. Those little characters that people build and paint for those fantasy games(not sure of the proper term for this). Puzzles, but didn’t have that great of a selection, and then art supplies in the back. I also witnessed one the workers working on a pretty expensive looking remote control car. The guy that checked me out was very friendly and talkative. Had a nice conversation with him. The store and everything in it does look a little outdated though. its as if its stuck in the 90s. Good store, good people. I’ll be back.

I’m glad to have re-discovered this place. I recall spending my weekend at the Hobby Company at their Pearlridge location growing up as a kid in Kalihi… I’ll give a more thorough review later, but wanted to reflect the rating this place actually deserve for now!

Just left the Hobby Company, I was looking for a hobby since I don’t currently have one. Joe was very helpful and patient in my quest. Even got a military discoint for Veterans Day. The store is easy to find in Aiea in the Harbor Plaza, one of the few there that was open today, Sunday.

Awesome hobby shop! They have a little bit of everything, are very helpful and reasonably priced. Since finding them 4 months ago, they are our go to place for science projects, RC car parts and repair, as well as model train parts. A little hard to find, but worth the search!

I called around Oahu to various stores looking for a tiny hand drill called a «pin vise.» No one knew what I was talking about, and the guys at Home Depot looked at me like I was an idiot — even though I showed them it’s in their online catalogue! Anyhow, I called The Hobby Company and the guy on the phone immediately knew what it was, and the various prices they had. Since they’re near Jelly’s I knew right away where they were, and found them easily. They had exactly what I wanted and the guy helped me figure out which kind of wire I needed to do the miniatures repair work I was doing. While I wouldn’t give them a big 5 star review, they did have exactly what I needed and for a pretty small(and loosely organized) shop, they’re a-okay!

I called to find directions to the store and see if they carried a certain magazine. Whoever answered seemed quite irritated that I needed directions and would only tell me that they were near cutter ford. When I asked if they carried the magazine he rudely responded with a yeah and then I asked if he could check for a december issue and he told me no and that he was busy. I really hope this guy isnt the owner! They obviously dont value their cusomers(Drafted review months ago and forgot to submit)

I used to spend many weeks of saved up allowance for model kits from the Hobby Company. These were the cool things we did before iPhones and iPads were the latest rage. When the hobby company closed in Pearlridge I thought they had closed for good. I’m glad to have found them again. My kids might enjoy some of the cool things they have to offer.
