Small businesses like Kehau’s Kitchen is what Unilocal is all about! A small, locally owned joint that’s run by Kehau herself and filled with love. Kehau greeted us and took our orders which consisted of a lau lau combo and a beef stew combo with poi and squid luau. If I had to choose my last meal on Earth it just might be poi and squid luau because that’s how much I enjoy the combination of sour poi and sweet coconut milk infused squid luau. We got our food in no time served on green cafeteria style plates and I devoured my plate with relish. It’s been ages since I’ve had Hawaiian food and Kehau’s Kitchen is definitely going into my West side restaurant rotation. The restaurant is located in the two story strip mall across from Anna Miller’s. A meal for two will run you around $ 30-$ 40 depending on if you get extras such as a poi upgrade or squid luau added to your combos. The pricing is fair and let’s be real, are you going to make all of this from scratch at your hale? I didn’t think so, but if you do please invite me over for some squid luau. Kehau caters and don’t forget that she’s closed on TUESDAYS. Happy eating!

This place is right around the corner from my place… just decided on eating here on a whim one afternoon… not disappointed at all! Great food so far.(I ate there twice) small menu which in my opinion is the best way to go. These people are super too. You can feel the love… in the food and in the atmosphere! Took my folks and they both had the local girl with rice beef stew gravy and haupia! I have had combo 2(lau lau I think) and beef stew ala carte! FYI I am not a local girl but I’ve been here almost 2 years and work at a local restaurant.

Pros: Great customer service. Just like grandma’s house. Greeted is warm salutations of «sweetie» and«sweetheart». I’m very particular with the right utensils and a server who thinks to bring things before I ask for them. My daughter, who is under 2, was brought her own bowl and spoonand also a little covered cup w/straw. For parent who knows how great that is to avoid spills/mess. Great attention to the keiki. Great convos. Food is delicious and great option to have beer on menu. Con’s: Drinks(except beer) served in small plastic cups. Portion size for the ala carte(squid luau, beef stew, and chicken long rice) is served in the same bowl for kiddies.

Finally got to eat at this spot after months of getting turned down to eat here by my man & it was FREAKINONO! The food was bomb, service was good & the prices are affordable! We had a little bit of everything… tripe stew, beef stew, smoked meat, kalua pig & cabbage, Lau Lau and squid luau… it was all very appetizing! So glad & satisfied that we got to eat here… and we’ll definitely be back especially since it’s literally right down the road from home! If you craving Hawaiian food… this is the perfect spot!

The best chicken Katsu I’ve had since moving here. Crunchy, crispy, and delicious. Prices were reasonable, portions were large, and service was excellent.

Good Hawaiian food place, especially if in Aiea. They are a small restaurant in the same mall as Makino Chaya. I feel they are slightly expensive but I suppose most Hawaiian food isn’t that cheap if not take-out. I really enjoyed my food here– got their Laulau Combo(with Puhele meat and haupia) and added a «Super» combo go get Kalua pig(tender and finely stripped). I definitely didn’t account for the large portion sizes and ended up needing to take home some(which was a plus to my family!). My favorite items here are their Kalua Pork Sliders(nice thin, crisp buns with flavorful Kalua pig inside) and their haupia. Banana bread is also good but not a «must try» as much as their sliders and haupia. Would recommend!

Their location is quite convenient and the lady at the restaurant is super friendly. Their food is good, my beef tendon stew needs a little bit more seasonings though. I like their BBQ beef on the side, very tasty!

Best Hawaiian food I’ve ever had! Definitely lived up to the 4.5 stars it has on Unilocal. Ate dinner here with a group of friends, there were 8 of us all together. It’s a pretty tiny place, but luckily, we were able to sit as soon as we got there. I had the lau lau combo with a side order of squid luau. The lau lau was great. Meat was so moist and flavorful, only complaint would be that there wasn’t that much meat, but flavor and tenderness basically made up for that. The pulehu short ribs that the combo comes with were AMAZING. The squid luau was great as well! Everything was priced reasonably. Only complaint would be that service wasn’t that great. It was because there was only one lady working«the front» but she was basically in the back the whole time we were there except when she took our order, served us, and when we paid. We waited a really long time to ask for boxes because she was nowhere to be found. Not sure if it’s because they were shorthanded so they needed her in the back, or if that’s how it always is. Regardless, the food and price definitely made up for it and our general experience was great!

Just finished Pearl Harbor your and wanted some local Hawaiian food for lunch thinking interior be fast, but it wasn’t since there are only two people running the entire restaurant. Not worth the hype as the food is pretty generic– nothing bad but nothing outstanding.

I like Kehua’s Kitchen. It’s conveniently located in Westridge across Pearlridge shopping center and there is plenty of parking. Since I am visiting my family for the holidays and I was craving Hawaiian food, I Unilocaled and found Kehau’s Kitchen by chance. I called my oldest friend to see if she was available and we booked it down there to eat dinner. I ordered the lau lau plate with lomi salmon and pulehu short ribs. I also ordered the poke since I was craving poke. The food came out fast. I was surprised how fast it came out. I was hungry so everything tasted good. The lau lau wasn’t dry or overcooked, the short ribs was tender and the lomi salmon was ono. The ladies that work here were friendly and the establishment felt very«homey». They let me and my friend stay for quite some time to talk story and catch-up on what has transpired between our lives. Kehau’s looked from the inside to be a little small, but I think they can sit large groups. There was a table of 8 next to me so good right? I found the prices to be reasonable so you will not break the wallet.

I’ll be honest when I say I’m a townie and getting out to this side of the island is rare now with the heavy traffic that the rail construction is causing. But some of the few times I’ve been out here I have managed to hit Kehau’s. Kehau’s is Hawaiian food and what’s great is that you can’t find many Hawaiian food eateries outside of town especially that opens for dinner. So that’s already one plus… and they open on Sunday’s even better. They are similar to other Hawaiian food places with either ala carte or combos. I recommend a combo, they’re pretty filling and reasonably priced. The food itself is pretty good too. The couple of times I’ve been here I’ve had the beef stew, chicken long rice(which the chicken is shredded so I appreciate that), kalua pig, lau lau and lomi salmon. I’ve never seen it so packed where you can’t get a table or personal service either. Although it seems like it’s a mom-n-pop type of shop so expect things to be a little slower than normal. I don’t mind though because once the food comes you’re probably glad you held out.

Delicious local Hawaiian food for a great price. My bf, friends and I came here for lunch. The owner was super friendly and accommodating. Having told her we were newbies to Hawaiian food, she took the time to walk us through the menu which was really helpful. I ended up getting the local girl plate. It came with Kahlua pig, beef, and egg with macaroni salad and beef stew on the side. Everything tasted great less the macaroni salad that was pretty average. For the price, I really did get my money’s worth. The portions were big and I left the place stuffed like a teddy bear. We also ordered a spicy poke as a side to share with the table. It reminded me of spicy tuna(what you would get in a sushi roll)…very good. For the overall experience we had here from the super accommodating owner to the tasty food and large portions, we’d definitely come back.

My husband and I were on our way to the Waikele Outlets and we wanted to find a place to eat. I did a Unilocal search and found Keheau’s Kitchen. It’s a small, cozy family run place. Nothing fancy, just good food with decent portions and very friendly workers. We ordered the following: Lau Lau Combo($ 12.50): it has Pork Lau Lau, Pulehu Short Ribs, Haupia, Lomi Salmon(I substituted it for extra Haupia) and Rice — It was yummy! Unfortunately, I like Helena’s better but this is a great place to go before going to the outlets. Local Girl($ 12.50): It has Kalua Pork, Pulehu Meat and Mac Salad with Brown Gravy — My husband liked it but he’s also a fan of Helena’s. Spicy Tuna Poke: Yum!!! The tuna was the perfect size ½“x½″ with lots of spicy sauce and crunchy roe. We’ll go here again before we go to the Outlets.

Yummm, Maybe I am jaded to Helena’s Hawaiian Food, but the items that I ordered at Keau’s lacked the quality expected from an establishment that specializes in a certain type of cuisine. The service was not there ether(there was only two tables at the time). The chicken luau had baking soda in it which came through very strong(also making the luau vibrant green). Forcing to give 1 star…

Whoo some ono! Had Kehau’s Laulau Combo($ 11.75) — pork laulau, pulehu meat, lomi salmon, and haupia with poi instead of rice(+$ 1.00) — and a side of squid luau($ 4.75). I’ve had bigger laulau with better luau leaves and more pork, and the squid luau was a tad bit too sweet for my taste. But the lomi salmon, and pulehu meat with a squirt of Kehau’s own chili pepper water were especially ono. Portions are on the small side, but I nevah have to go moi moi aftah so it’s all good. T’anks Aunty.

I was craving Hawaiian food and saw this place I’m assuming the one woman show was Aunty Kehau in the front. She was sweet and nice. I ordered the beef stew combo, which comes with rice, lomi salmon, pulehu beef, pickled onions, chili pepper water and haupia. My takeout order took 15+ mins. So don’t come here in a hurry. I wasn’t in a hurry… but there was a table of 10 and a big takeout order and she was by herself. Now onto the food. The beef stew was great. Lots of soft beef and carrot and potato. The lomi salmon was great and the pulehu beef was yummy and something different. The haupia was too starchy and hard for me. The chili pepper water was vinegary and not my thing. Otherwise a pretty decent meal at a decent price. I’d come here again to try the lau lau.

We were cruising around the neighborhood, and thanks to Unilocal we found this place! It is literally a hole in the wall restaurant, and the owner thought we were locals. When we asked what certain things were she laughed, and so did the other local guests. We had to tell her we were from California so all we know is the crappy L&L BBQ and Hukilau which is our go to spot at home. She was kind enough to explain what everything was! We ended up ordering the Local Boy and Local Girl Plates. The Local Boy came with rice, pork lau lau, gravy, Kalua pork, grilled meat(which starts with a P — I can’t even remember how to spell it or say it, but it’s really similar to Filipino beef tapas — Pelehu), mac salad and an egg. My fiancé enjoyed it so much that he ate the entire thing! I thought he was going to lick the bowl! This was about $ 16. The Local Girl came with rice, Kalua pig, grilled meat, and an egg. I also got a side of beef stew and Lomi salmon instead of mac salad. I liked that the Kalua wasn’t super salty like others we had. It went well with the Lomi salmon. And the grilled meat with the onions they give you when you first sit down! Goes so good together. Then you add a sunny side up egg and all is well in my world! A lot of food for about $ 11! Seriously so good! My fiancé ate the whole thing! Amazing. I know he can eat but this time it disappeared! The women that were working there today were super sweet! We liked this place a lot! I don’t think we will be able to eat Hawaiian food at home anymore. It will never compare.

My my my, what a great surprise! I almost don’t want to write this review so you don’t have high expectations when you go here. Anyways, it was a Sunday night with out-of-town guests only in for one night wanting to eat Hawaiian food. In town, there is no Hawaiian food place to eat at on a Sunday night, so we made the long town-y journey to the Pearlridge area. Our party of 7 sat down at 7:30 pm, and even though they close at 8:00 pm, they greeted us with joy. My guests ordered the traditional Hawaiian foods and loved it. As for me? I was doing a clean eating(no alcohol, no caffeine, no refined sugar, no processed foods) to prepare for my 5 day juice cleanse so all I could have was the lomi salmon and chicken long rice. But I don’t eat chicken. I was trying to pick out the chicken and had a REALLYREALLY hard time. The waitress noticed and she asked if I wanted it without chicken? I was like HELLYAH! And within minutes was a bowl of chicken long rice, no chicken… My absolute favorite dish. I was in heaven. And the bowl was BIG! I was so happy. I told her I’d even pay for the second bowl they made for me, but they didn’t! So much aloha. Now I know where I can go to let my out-of-town guests experience some true Hawaiian food with a flavor of Aloha.

I was craving Hawaiian food on a Sunday and guess what? All the places are closed on Sunday. Except Kehau’s Kitchen. God bless, Kehau’s Kitchen, for knocking that craving out of the park! Hawaiian food is off da hook! Food quality and portions for the price are the best deal on the island! What I especially love is how KK doesn’t over salt their food! You want more salt? There’s a Hawaiian salt shaker on da table, brah. Lau lau was mean! Good ratio of meat to leaves. I do like my leaves! The hot sauce they bring to the table is SOONO! Unreal! The chili doesn’t separate from the water; you don’t have to shake it! So, you know it’s going to bring it. Pulehu ribs is their version of pipikaula and it is salty, umami, tender pieces — this is the first thing I finished. Lomi salmon is nice, firm and fresh tomato, no soggy mush here. Poi is legit — nice thicker consistency. Chicken long rice is satisfying. SERVICEISTHEBEST! They were kind enough to give just long rice, no chicken, to my vegetarian friend! She didn’t even ask! The waitress overheard her say, «I can’t eat this»(she’d tried to take out the chicken but failed) and offered her another one. I really appreciate this above and beyond hospitality! They are located in the building across from pearlridge near the 7 – 11 store on the bottom floor, towards KFC side.

This is located across the street from the Pearlridge Mall. You would’ve never known it was there unless it was recommended by someone or a simple Unilocal search of the area. I did the latter and was not disappointed. Like myself, you would’ve missed the place if you were only looking at the large signs on the building. This place does not have one. I ordered the Local Girl special which is Kalua pork, Pulehu short ribs, and an egg over a bed of rice with a side of macaroni salad. Quite yummy and it was more than I expected! The short ribs was not too chewy and the Kalua pork was not too dry. I thought it was a bit salty but maybe these Hawaiian specialties are like that since I do not have prior experience. I did came in starving and left stuffed! The owner was very nice too. She asked where I was from and we chatted about places to visit while I’m here.
