I won’t be going here again due to their lack of customer service skills. An older woman assisted me and she wasn’t very friendly.

Excellent food, stellar service, friendly staff, a place that you can relax with your friends and family. One of the best Thai Restaurants on Oahu. You must try the Pork Larb! Everything is authentic.

I am a fan… I will leave the professional opinion to my Thai friend who is a Thai food snob… I was told by my server that the kitchen could prepare my menu choice in any way I wanted. Gluten Free? Check. Vegan? Check. No MSG? Check. I have a few tried and true favs when I eat Thai food. I am not much on the spicy part but with some dishes such as Drunken Noodles aka Pad Kee Mao I do like a little bit of kick. They played it safe here and my plate had zero spice. I did not specify when I ordered«how many peppers» I wanted. I did enjoy my menu item none the less and I know my friend did as well. She likes her stuff SPICY so she was happy to slather on the red peppers until her heart was content(and on fire, I imagine). This is a BYOB dining place and it is also an intimate place. I realized that I did not like to sit by the door/cash register because when you are sitting at one of the tables right at the entrance, you are eye level with the back quarters of each individual that funnels in and out of the door. Im pretty sure butt crack is not Vegan so I will sit further into the establishment next time. Sorry to sound crass but it was kind of a put off to be sat at that specific table. Had to dock some stars for that. I will return anyways and just be very specific about my seating preferences. I will be back Champa Thai… I will be back!

Went here for lunch today. An Aussie with three US locals. Good food, we had a selection of dishes and all really enjoyable. Good spot.

Older but clean environment. Interesting that they have a variety of ramen dishes. I got the Wonton Ramen such came with pork gyoza and a side of fried rice($ 9.50). The ramen was a pretty average but the broth had good flavor. Gyoza had a nice crispy skin. The pork stuffing was pretty good. Fried rice a bit on the dry side. Good friendly service.

First off, the server/host was rude and really weird. He raised his voice and had a hard time taking orders. When the food came, he placed the plates in the middle and motioned us to use our mini plates like family style. However, we just wanted to eat our own dish and felt it was rude on his part to show us how to eat. When I got my Pad Thai, I also found a black hair in it. It was disgusting. Why can’t the cooks wear hair nets?

Good price and convienent location. Only $ 10 for Pad Thai chicken. Parking lot gets crowded at night if traveling by car.

I have mix results for this place. The food was ok. Not the greatest, but the service was fantastic. I got the honey shrimp thinking it would be like the Chinese version of Honey Walnut. I was wrong. It’s deep friend breaded shrimp drizzled with honey. And I got the bitter melon curry with beef. Average. The servers were great and very attentive. There weren’t that many people there so our waiting staff checked up on me every few mins. This was a great surprise since it was a late Friday night. I’m sure if I stuck to dishes I’m more familiar with I would give this place a higher rating. Standby for round two.

The last time I was in here was years ago, a good 8+ years ago. I remember the food being tasty then but the service lacking. I remember finding hair in my food, telling the waitress about it, and getting an insincere apology. This afternoon, I decided to give them another try. I placed a phone order: pineapple curry with chicken, medium spice, and an order of white rice. When I arrived to pick up my order, there were only 2 customers dining in and yet, my order wasn’t ready. Hmm, okay. When my order was read back to me before paying, apparently I had ordered red curry and not pineapple curry. The girl at the front TRIED to show concern for the incorrect order by looking back at the kitchen but really didn’t do much to fix the order. I didn’t make a fuss about the curry, after all the only thing missing were the canned pineapples. I paid the order and left. The last straw that prompted this review was the amount of chicken they gave. They put so little chicken it made me wonder why they didn’t just put all eggplant. The eggplant to chicken ratio was absurd. The curry didn’t have much taste either. It was definitely a container of disappointment. Needless to say, I will not be back here ever again. I gave them their 2nd chance and they couldn’t redeem themselves.

My oldest son brought me here for Mother’s Day dinner since we couldn’t get reservations at the pineapple room. The restaurant was pretty much empty and we got seated right away. It took a while for someone to come take our order, it looked like the take out orders were getting overwhelming. We ordered the fried calamari, pad Thai, yellow curry and sticky rice. We ordered medium spice, and that was really hot for me, my eyes were watering. I’m part Korean so that’s saying something. Other than that, the food was great. My son was very pleased and said everything was«legit»(his all time favorite word meaning good). This restaurant is located in the heart of Pearl Kai. The parking is usually tight here. We parked in front of coco Ichibanya where there were plenty of open spaces and walked a couple of minutes. Prices are fair, around $ 9 to $ 11 a dish depending what meat or tofu you choose. Staff not the friendliest but they did not mess up our order and got the job done. I got to enjoy some quality time with my oldest child and it was a good dinner.

Food is good, service is bad. They bring main course before the appetizer. Waitress does not come back to check on the table.

I have been coming here for years– and though the service and location are not ideal and parking is always a drag– the authentic Thai food is to die for. I stick with the Thai sticky rice, beef broccoli, chicken Tom kha, pad Thai, shrimp toast and the beef sateh. Don’t forget to try the Thai iced tea!

Food was ok. Service is poor. Restaurant was slow(3 couples to be exact). We were seated around the corner next to a filthy wall. I lost my appetite somewhat. The curry was too watery for my taste. I recommend going to the one in kunia. Even though they can’t bus tables, service was great and flavors were spot on

Been a regular of the Pearl Kai Champa Thai since working near there, even though this is my first review of them. Solid Thai food and a relaxed atmosphere. I like getting their Panang Curry w/fried chicken and the Stuffed Chicken Wings. And I’m pretty sure they don’t use MSG either, always a plus. Sometimes the preparation is a little hit-or-miss, but usually pretty good… fried chicken pieces have looked like the small discarded portions at times. The Stuffed Chicken Wings are a reasonable serving size(4 wings), and are very plump, compared to other Thai places I’ve tried. I like their other curry selections as well, but Panang is always my go-to. Sorry to see the Waialae location shut down, but glad that I can still get my Champa fix at Pearl Kai.

Champa Thai is on my short list of Thai restaurants because it fulfills a specific niche of serving bittermelon curry. I love bittermelon. My take out experience with Champa Thai’s Pearl Kai location was positive for several years. I always ordered the same bittermelon curry with fish, spicy and it was made consistently to order. I’m sorry to say that dining in was a completely different experience. Service was slow and unprofessional. Upon arriving, the hostess /server was texting on her phone and seemed irritated to have to set up a table for 5. She said it would take 10 minutes to set the table(it didn’t have to be cleared, just set with utensils and napkins). After the wait for the table, it was another 15 before our order was taken. The food did not arrive at once, so my family was not able to eat together ‘family style.’ The food itself was not hot when served, and the bittermelon curry was definitely undercooked. It did not taste anything like the bittermelon curry I’ve enjoyed for take out for a number of years. I’ll stick to the Waialae Ave location when I’m craving bittermelon curry. If I end up craving Thai food while on the West Side, I’ll have to weigh my options before returning to Champa Thai … perhaps unless for take out.

My wife and I come here once every couple weeks, and have done so for well over a year. We’ve eaten many of their dishes ranging from all curries, noodle dishes, salads and appetizers. Two of the waitresses have gotten to know our favorite dishes and even where we like to sit. Thus I would consider us regulars here. I usually don’t review places I eat at regularly but I think this place deserves it. I’ll cut to the chase, the curries are good but on the small size(at least by my standards). I would like them to have more vegetables(bamboo shoots, eggplant, potato, etc. depending on the type). The tofu summer rolls are quite good and stuffed with lots of healthy veggies. I’ve seen the waitress hand rolling all of the spring rolls many times. I have experienced two of the same things as the Unilocal review from Lulu C. They have occasionally gotten the order wrong, and I have gotten one really long hair in my summer rolls before. When I brought up the hair, they gave us a new batch which was nice. Neither of these were going to stop us from eating here though. I’m not very picky with Thai food so I’m not an expert in what is authentic or not. But I can tell you that the service is great, the prices are reasonable for Hawaii, and it tastes good to me. I will continue to be a regular here for many years to come.

Let start off by saying, if you recommendations for what to eat, you must try the following: –stuff chicken –summer rolls There are many things on the menu that are tasty and delicious, but honestly my favorite things to eat are the two dishes above! Stuff chicken thighs– is literally stuffed with noodles and vegetables, then deep fried to perfection. When you bite into the chicken it’s so flavorful from all the veggies and the chicken itself! It’s so good that you’ll be wanting more after one bite. The dish comes in 4 pieces with a sauce on the side. Summer rolls– noodles, shrimp, and mint wrapped in rice paper. Comes with peanut sauce on the side. I know everyone knows what summer rolls are, but seriously the summer rolls here are my favorite! I don’t order summer rolls from anywhere else because no one can make it like they do! So if you’re in the mood for Thai food, this is the place to check out. I have tried the Thai curries but I heard its delicious and my friend absolutely loves the cellophane noodles-spicy! She orders that ALL the time, it’s her all time favorite!

This is my go to place when it comes to eating great Thai food. Champa Thai offers many traditional Thai dishes, that taste great and are reasonably priced. Thanks Bey & Joy for making me feel at home. I’ll see you soon…
