Friday night happy hour! Ready to kick start our weekend we decided to get together at the twisted oak tavern right down the street from our work. Upon our arrival we were greeted by our server, who took our order of drinks right away. We decided to wait for the rest of our group to arrive before ordering food. Soon enough the gang was all here and ready to eat, but unfortunately our server was M.I.A. We gave it about 30 minutes before flagging down a manager to assist. If hunger was considered to be suspense we were all anxiously awaiting. We placed our order and it didn’t take too long. We all found it a little strange to be waiting so long when the place wasn’t that busy. Our new server informed us that our original server had left as she worked all day. Typically the server comes over and explains that her shift is over and introduces you to the new server. However, I understand that things come up and for all we know there could have been a family emergency. No worries we are just enjoying the freedom that Friday brings The 3 dishes(off the happy hour menu under $ 7) that we ordered were the mushroom Flatbread, the nachos, and the deviled eggs. The mushroom Flatbread was delicious, drizzled with truffle oil and covered in arugula. The portion size was more than enough and plenty to share. The nachos were of smaller portion and only had salsa and pepper jack cheese. I really liked the cheese as it was a nice change from the standard nacho. It felt fancier ;) I did not try the deviled eggs, but everyone else loved them and basically judged me as a person for not trying them #badeggexperience #tometheyarethedevil. Anyways, we had a great time with great company. I want to go back to give the service another try, and if all else fails I will get the mushroom Flatbread to go.

Let me start by saying the food was Great! I was not disappointed and would order for pick up. I would not eat at the restaurant again. Don’t get me wrong the atmosphere was fun and clean but the service was more than lacking. I was seated fast but had to get back up to have the hostess let my waiter know I was there. It took about 15 minutes to get water once I was seated. I placed my dinner and appetizer order when I finally did get my drink but I never got my appetizer. Again, the food was great. I had the twisted oak burger and it was delicious. Once I had finished eating it took awhile to get my ticket. Luckily I was able to pay by phone so there was no waiting to pay once I had my ticket.

Twisted Oak Tavern has been a number of restaurants over the years going back to Moz Budda Bar the only constant is the same owner. I’m not a beer guy so Twisted oak never appealed to me but I have done the Happy Hour a couple of times as it’s in my hood. Actually 3.5 Stars. The HH is good and reasonably priced but nothing overtly special. We started with the short rib tacos(2) particularly small tacos for $ 6, the mushroom flatbread pizza $ 7 and the nachos $ 4… A couple of people had wine which was $ 5 on the HH menu. The burgers looked amazing, while they were not on the HH menu at around $ 13 all things considered on a return visit a burger appears to be the go too… The bar and restaurant were not busy at 6pm on a Tuesday night. The staff is welcoming, available and nice. Beer is the signature menu item which makes sense as it’s made in front of you behind clear glass… The restaurant is clean and inviting with a gastropub feel and vibe. A casual neighborhood place to grab HH and relax. Not being a beer guy or really a drinker the food was unfortunately average and nothing special. I really wanted more as the space is indeed cool along with being basically a few minutes from my home.

The atmosphere is upbeat and the décor warm and inviting. The servers are knowledgable and friendly. Everything I have ever ordered(ie. Ribeye) has been delicious. And the award — winning, brewery — made beer is terrific! Try their sampler! I live over a hundred miles away, but this is a destination point. If I lived nearby, I would be visiting every day!

Came here for a wedding rehearsal dinner, wasn’t expecting much. Had great selection of beers and low key atmosphere, with outdoor patio on a nice(little chilly) winter night. Food is 4/5, solid and particularly the Diablo burger. Fried solid too. Thought the service was good, timely. Our waitress(Jenny?) was quick and cheerful, even with our group of 20+.

Excellent food, drinks and service!!! I hosted an event on the patio and got the Taco Bar which was a hit! We are having our next event there. The owner even came out personally to introduce himself to my group and made sure we were taken care of. This is our favorite restaurant.

We were there for Paint Nite, and decided to go early to enjoy Happy Hour. We walked in and it was not very crowded in the bar. There are not too many tables but there is a patio outside, but too cold for us to try it out there. They have a large selection of beers on tap, and of course the one I choose was out. I went with one suggested by our server and it was pretty good. We order a few appetizers, Nachos, Pretzel and the Sausage Flatbread. The nachos had good flavor as did the flatbread, but the pretzel was nothing special. It’s not a bad place to go, and it seems they get majority of their guests from the hotel across the street due to the fact it was about 95% men throughout the restaurant.

Definitely a decent brewery/bar in the Thousand Oaks area. FOOD: 4⁄5 Their appetizers are yummy, and there are so many choices. Big fan of their flatbreads and roasted veggies(brussel sprouts, cauliflower). Tried their classic burger one time, and overall, it was delicious but too much food! Fries were amazing, and they go perfectly with some beer. In terms of its beer, it hasn’t been disappointing. If you don’t know what you want to get, I would recommend trying a flight of 4 for $ 10. It’s a great deal, and if you’re a curious to try a bunch but don’t want to end up drunk or too full of beer, it’s the perfect combination. Also feel free to ask for samples if you’re deciding between two beers. SERVICE: 4⁄5 Service has been consistently pleasant. I’ve only been here on weekdays; it’s never crowded but also never empty. The waiters and waitresses have been nice, patient, and knowledgeable of their menu. AMBIANCE: 4⁄5 Typical bar setting, never too loud, never too quiet. Plenty of seating options.

Visited Reagan library over holiday weekend and was looking for a brewery nearby that served food and was kid friendly. This place came up on Unilocal radar amongst a few tempting choices. Menu and pics looked right, so we went for it. Definitely a good choice! While we were momentarily seduced by pig head(where else could you get that?!) we had to think kid friendly and didn’t think they would go for it. Turned out that Sunday is all day Happy Hour and it’s available in main dining area! Though everything on the menu looked amazing, we couldn’t resist the value and ended up ordering off happy hour menu/2 orders of tacos– beef and mahi($ 6/order), mushroom flat bread($ 7), nachos($ 4), chicken flautas($ 7), fries($ 4 plus $ 3 up charge to make them«twisted” — loads of shredded beef, so yummy!!!), pretzel($ 4), and I got a hef brew on tap. I really hoped they would have a house hef, but no such luck, was still able to enjoy one from guest offerings. Service was spot on, super prompt, food delicious. Only thing that fell short was nachos, seemed kind of weak on pico de gallo and pepper jack looked suspiciously like canned nacho cheese. Of the tacos, mahi blew away the beef, and mushroom flat bread got rave reviews. Really hoping to talk the kids into the pig head feast next time. Worth a check out!

I gotta lemon! After 5 drinks, this place is awesome! I cannot attest for the food but the service is great! Janessa was amazing. She brought us so many great drinks, although one pretty sure had drano. But the bitch who drank it was horrible so we are glad she’s gone. So 4 stars it is. That place was greaT.

Had a four beer sampler and the first two were good, Red Amber and Vanilla Porter and the next two were great, Robust Porter and Milk Stout. The ambiance is nice as was the bartender.

Late weeknight dinner was amazing. We went for the beer, but left absolutely pleased with the food. Great friendly service, beautiful atmosphere and wonderful food, what more can you ask for. Tavern Burger was quite honestly the best burger I’ve ever had. Twisted fries were an explosion of flavor. Diablo Chicken was, as advertised, spicy but with the pineapple and juicy chicken the flavored just blend perfectly. We can’t wait to go back soon.

Delicious food, awesome cool staff, lots of beer options and tasty unique cocktails. Fridays are busier and usually have a band playing. Great atmosphere!

Went here for dinner last week, had the Twisted Fries and Crème Brûlée. Great service and great food! My mouth was on fire from the habanero in the cheese, next time I would order it on the side for dipping. I also got half regular and half sweet potato fries, excellent choice :)

Well I went back as the owners reached out and assured me my prior experience was an anomaly. They were right. Our second time there was much better, service and food fantastic, and the same great vibe we enjoyed when we first came. Thanks Roger and Jeff!

Disclaimer: Rating is for service and for the bar… not for the food! First — if you are going to advertise a drink on your menu and charge top dollar for it, then make it EXACTLY as you state it, or have your server inform your patron when they order it, that you no longer make it that way… I ordered the Strawberry Basil Lemon Drop… It stated it was made with a strawberry purée… and it was an $ 11 drink with a higher end vodka… Our waitress at no time when I ordered it mentioned it was not made a different way until she BROUGHT it to me…(Which we also didn’t get our drinks until nearly 15 mins after we ordered them! IT was a SLOW Saturday night at 8pm…) When she brought me my drink, it was clear with a lemon and casually laughed and said, «Oh just so you know we use a strawberry vodka instead of the purée now that is why its clear» teehee … Ummm… why wouldn’t you say that ahead of time? That isn’t the same drink I ordered, and strawberry vodka tastes much different than strawberry purée!!! Unfortunately, I didn’t want to send it back because I didn’t want to wait another 15 minutes for another drink, and my friends were happy just to slug it down for me because the artificial strawberry taste in the drink was rather gross. $ 11 drink = Fail… don’t advertise something you don’t make! Service — POOR especially for such a slow Saturday night. Our server was terrible… she wasn’t busy, she took forever to bring the first round of drinks, then our friend ordered another beer and she took another 15 minutes to bring it and then brought it with our check because she had forgotten about it!!! Very poor service from start to finish… Pork Belly App was really tasty though. Service is everything, and not making something the way you advertise it is not appropriate! Although the appetizer was good I cant imagine coming back here.

My Fiancé and I visited last Friday after speaking with Jeff about potentially hosting our rehearsal dinner here. We wanted to try some of the menu items and drink options to get a better idea of this restaurant. I had read mixed reviews of the food, drinks, and service, so we had to see first hand before making any decisions. I have to say, after our evening there, I can’t do anything but rave about it! Our dinner(the Agoura Salad and Twisted burger– a special menu item in honor of national Cheeseburger day) was outstanding! The Agoura salad may have been one of, if not the, best salad I have ever had! The Twisted Burger was just as good too; cooked exactly as I had ordered(medium) and piled high with toppings. The house ground beef made a world of difference, it was one of the juiciest and most flavorful burgers I’ve ever had! Now for the drinks– I ordered a flight of of the LAB brewery beers(per our waitress’ recommendation) and my fiancé ordered a moscow mule. The LAB brews(Blonde, double IPA, and Heff) were all outstanding! The IPA was delicious(and I’m NOT an IPA guy), and probably my favorite. The moscow mule, although a little heavy on the ginger, was tasty and well made considering the emphasis of a tavern is beer and food. The wait staff and management were the icing on the cake! My experience here will likely differ from most, as I began it in communication with Jeff, the owner and managing partner. He was prompt in responding to my(many) questions, and very helpful! The restaurant staff really made the experience dining there one of the best. The managers were friendly and helpful, and our waitress was knowledgeable and kind. In all I think we were helped in one way or another by at least 10 different members of the staff. Even though we live over an hour away, we can’t wait to come back for another meal and to try more of the menu! You owe it to yourself to visit Twisted Oak Tavern!

This place has been 2 different places in the past and seems like it may follow its predecessors. The location is not good being stuck in a center that’s hidden away. Maybe that’s why past businesses have not done well. The décor is bland and dark but very open centering around the bar in the center of the room. Came here for Happy Hour and the place was busy. It was loud and noisy which is good for a bar atmosphere. Good mix of people. There were even couples with infants. They have about 6 beers they brew and offer a variety of others. The server was not knowledgeable in their beers as when asked what the IBUs are, she had no clue and didn’t know what IBUs meant.(International Bitter Unit). Told her I couldn’t take too much to Bitter beer and ended up having the Hop which had an IBU over over 50(from my experience). They had a good mix of food items from the Happy Hour menu — flatbreads, chicken satay(way too dry), fries. Didn’t order from their dinner menu since we only there for the Happy Hour. Did order a Waldorf salad and rosemary apple cobbler with ice cream(awesome). Good experience overall but nothing to make me want to return.

Now this is the kind of place I expect out in these parts. A pub serving burgers and brew. They have other stuff too but I went with the surest bet. The ‘MERICABURGER comes with honey gem lettuce, tomato, dill pickle slices, 1000 island dressing and Tillamook cheddar. The patty was nice and juicy and I opted for simpler toppings so I could add a fried egg. Burgers come with a side salad or thick, hand-cut fries. I’m sure the salad is perfectly fine, but get the FRIES!

I stopped in here for lunch because it was conveniently located across the street from the hotel. It also had solid reviews. This place is big. There is a lot of seating, table top and bar. There are televisions through out the place so you can watch the game. The menu has some great pub options. I ordered a couple appetizers instead of a meal. I started with the Candied Bacon. It comes in a glass with a nice glaze. This is a unique option. The bacon was tasty and crispy. The other appetizer i tried was the Twisted Fries. The fries come topped with habanero blue cheese, braised short ribs and beer onion. I enjoy each of those things by themselves and they do combine nicely. It would be a good appetizer for two or three people. This is a good place to stop in for some pub food, drinks and to watch the game with friends.

Ugh! Why!!! My friend and I decided to try this place out for lunch on a Saturday since the original place we were thinking of opened too late and the menu of this place sounded good! The key word there is sounded! The waitress recommended the gnocchi and it sounded really good on the menu. There was something really off about the dish. First, the gnocchi were not toasted — they didn’t have any sort of texture(just mushy dough balls) and they seem just like the ones straight from the supermarket package. The sauce was really off tasting — there were mushrooms in there that I was looking forward to and I ate some of them — but the sauce was really bitter. Ick! The burger! I had the forager(with mushrooms) and my friend had the twisted oak burger! These were awful! And how can you mess up a burger!!! They are ground in house and we concluded they were not ground correctly. The cuts are not right or there’s not enough fat. The meat just crumbled and fell apart when you ate it. I’m super picky about fatty meat — and you’ll find me nowhere near pork belly or fatty meats — but this was horrible! It was barely a burger! We also asked for them medium — my friend medium rare — and they were definitely more well done. They were just really bad and neither of us finished them nor took them home. What a waste! We salvaged the lunch with some gelato from Grom in Malibu that she recommended but it was the worst meal I’ve had in a long time. I don’t know what the deal is with a lot of restaurants in this area! I think we determined that they try to emulate the cool and hip DTLA places but it’s just emulation — they don’t get the recipes right or have the food quality any where close to what you get elsewhere. I think I learned my lesson, I’m going to have to stay away from this area and travel the other way to have good food!
