The pulled pork, although very tender was lacking in flavor. The beef brisket sandwich was excellent, and very tender, sliced thinly. The baked Beans were good, but a bit on the sweet side. The potato salad was most definitely not homemade and very average. Meals come with garlic toast which was buttery and very good. They coleslaw was vinegar based, and again average. The service was friendly and quick. Overall their sauces were uneventful.

Good, I mean GREAT, BBQ in Affton? Who woulda thunk it? This place is great! Ordered here twice and it’s been so amazing that I broke my «try 3x first» rule and decided to review now. Granted I only had pulled pork and smoked turkey, but I can tell that everything has to be good by how neither of the two meats need any sauce. The dry rub on the pork is absolutely great. I found myself wanting more of the«burnt» pieces. The turkey is so tender and smoky– very moist and flavorful. I will definitely find my way back here and bring a friend or two next time. This place is def in my top 5STLBBQ joints. And next door is a shooting range??? You can’t beat that!

Totally in love with the quality of the food, service and ambience! Fairly priced for the taste from the meat you get. I will most definitely be back. If you’re a guy and got that«I want a man’s, man bbq» urge go here.

I’ve had the pulled pork both times I went. It’s debatable whether this amazingly smoked meat even needs BBQ sauce! But the BBQ sauce is delicious as well! Sharpshooters is at the very least on par with(if not better than) the other ‘Food Channel’ famous BBQ joints in town. This is where I will be going when I want BBQ, and where I will bring friends who are visiting. Bonus– Both times I’ve gone have been peak meal hours and neither time did I have to wait in line!

Tried this out after spending time at the adjoining range. Very good pulled pork sandwich, and good potato salad. I used their spicy BBQ sauce, and it was exactly to my tastes. I will definitely be going back there.

Was doing some wedding planning with my step sis(with my mom in tow) today… met with the caterer who suggested including brisket. But she had no idea what is was. Happened upon this place in route to Kennrick Meats to see if they had any on hand(because that’s who supplies the caterer). Apparently is a fairly new place – Google still shows it as the car wash that used to be at Gravois and Seibert. Figured when I heard the name they’d be sure to have some sort of brisket. It’s named Sharp Shooters I guess since it directly next to a new shooting range and directly across the street from the 7 – 11 turned ammo store. First word of caution, if you park at one of the 2 spots facing Gravois and Seibert or down the hill and behind the building, there is a steep glob of asphalt formed into a weird rectangle that goes from wide base to skinner(but ample foot width wide) rectangle. If you have trouble with steps, or other ada walking issues, park down by the range and walk down. Next prepare yourself to serenaded with heavy metal and an industrial ambiance. The place is clean, 6 regular tables covered with plastic check and oversized and tall tables.(Again, an issue if all the regular height tables are taken.) TVs galore, so would be a fab place to catch an afternoon game… there are 4 or 5 outdoor picnic tables with out umbrellas. So yes, it was delightful getting my 71 year old mother in the building and seated in a tall chair.(Actually, it did amuse the 3 of us. she was fine once up there!) Menu board is clear n easy to read. Of course, since we were on a brisket quest, we went for the platter – that included meat and 2 sides. SIdes are applesauce potato salad. slaw, or green beans. Fries are not side choice but can be had for an upcharge of 1.25. First thing that rankled me was the tip jar – clearly a server/bus yourself place, I know is the trend, but really it’s kinda ballsy and well quite frankly, tacky to ask me for extra money before I have had service. Sodas are pure profit at 2.25 each(but you can have refills of the 32 oz cups). When food is ready, a kitchen person comes round yelling someone’s name till they claim their order. He’s kinda a quiet fella, so if you are in a conversation at the table, you have to keep stopping to make sure your food isn’t returned for non-claim. Food served barbq place style in a paper lined basket. I had fries and slaw… way more fries than should be a normal serving, but I guess they figure, for an upcharge, give ya the money’s worth. Along with the generous pile of meat, you get toastcut in nice neat triangles, a good deli pickle spear. The regular sides were probably just the right amount, but crammed into serving cups makes it look stingy. The brisket was cut in thin slices and had an ok overall flavor. I don’t think it was a true pit slow prepared brisket as it was a touch over cooked and not fall apart n buttery like a great brisket should be. Found it a little on the salty side too. But overall it was just ok – it didn’t need to be hidden with sauce.(Wasn’t too impressed with their sauce – again just ok for a sauce, one was heavy handed on paprika and chili powder.) Overall, I think this place might have some potential – first pay attention to your diners! Mixed family and ages, some just in from the church across the street don’t necessarily care to be full on serenaded with head banging music.(Fab acoustics since the building innards are exposed and there is no drop ceiling… change or seriously lower the music.) I kinda felt the pricing was a little high for a Sunday lunch – 15 bucks a person and you wait on yourself n bus yourself… actually for just ok, over cooked brisket, high. I would also like to know where their meat comes from since there are no pits or smokers on lot, nor no overwhelming delish smokey scent of q’ued smoked meats. I did see plenty of industrial ovens… so the food is either oven cooked(and a brisket can be done well in an oven if the cooks are experienced) or done off site and served reheated(which would explain the touch of overcooking I experienced).

This is the best BBQ I’ve had in a long long long time… but the problem is this and only this… how this place continues to operate, abiding all state and local laws, while simultaneously distributing narcotics cleverly hidden within their baked beans? I knew I had hit a wall, a crossroad in youth and ever decline after eating these baked beans… They rearranged my priorities… I considered what depths I may fall to get ahold of these in a hypothetical futuristic post-revolution whereas food is scarce and we, as a society, must relearn how to gather and hunt to live day to day… would I slit the throats of long united friends to taste these baked beans in my future apocalyptic hell scape? Yes… and several times over… they are beyond any single item of food I’ve ever tasted… and they are just a lone plastic ramekin of baked beans… the Monday after, I returned to work like many of us did, but I had gone through a metamorphosis… I had turned into the«old guy» at work that wouldn’t shut up about that«food he ate at that place over the weekend»…I guess the short version is the pulled pork /brisket platter is superior to any guy fierri St. Louis diners drive-ins and dives hokum… and if you are a paranoid gun worshiper, it’s attached to a shooting range… but they will not let you shoot mosin nagant 7.62×54 rounds, so I have yet to shoot there… but don’t let the«ain’t gonna take my guns away» misconception keep you from stuffing yourself with smokey meat, the staff and patrons wouldn’t hurt a fly… but there’s no crossover market, so don’t expect to check out a shooting lane with your Taurus judge in one hand and a slab of ribs in the other… safety first ya turkey.

Not only is this BBQ on par with pappy’s and bogarts but it is in a much more convienent location for me. I am a huge fan of the pulled pork and my fiancé has had the brisket twice. Their beans are a bit spicy but the sweet potato fries are great. The food comes out hot and quick and the people are nice. As a bonus if you are having a bad day you can go shoot a gun underneath before you get your food!

This place is ok. The food is not terrible by any means, but I would not go out of your way for it. I tried the pick 2 plate with turkey and brisket. Brisket wasn’t bad, but the turkey was just like a hot piece of deli lunch meat. The potato salad was fine as were the green beans. The sauce was my biggest issue. It just wasn’t very good. The service was excellent, so I will definitely give them props for that. Just step up your game on the sauces, and make better turkey, and ill gladly add an extra star next time.

I wouldn’t have known if not for visiting the new range, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of BBQ here. Great standard options served hot and the meats are quite good. The brisket was sliced nicely, the sauces spot on, spicy sausage was great. I simply can’t give 5 due to the high standard of BBQ in this town, and the décor is just not BBQ-esque at all for whatever that’s worth, but for a good option on that side of town, and especially if you’re up for some time at the gun range I do recommend it.

I love barbecue so my wonderful partner suggested that we try this place out. When we walked in it was like the music stopped in a corny movie. The staff, possibly including an owner all stared at us and it was a very uncomfortable experience. I’m not sure if the actually don’t want gay customers, but these for sure won’t be coming back. The food was not nearly good enough to be stared at the entire time… rude! At the end a waitress seemed to try to be saving a little face by talking to my pregnant partner about our baby, but the damage was done really. I guess they only want certain kinds of customers.
