Took my boyfriend here for REAL lobsters after«He» tried taking me for some lobster rolls up on the North Shore this past week. Nothing compares to the Lobster Barn!!! Amazing lobster rolls and he loved them!!! I love that added picnic tables out back and I love the new menus!!! The owner is the sweetest! We talked to her after for a good half an hour of how much I loved the place. Played with her little dogs in her side yard. They are just are all around the friendliest people ever… just the best!

We ordered take out from the Lobster Barn in Abington, first mistake. My husband picked it up, I had ordered baked haddock(15.99) with scallop stuffing, it was supposed to come with cole slaw, fries, tarter sauce and lemon. Well they forgot everything but the baked haddock. Which was so dry, I took one bite, if one had a scallop allergy they wouldn’t have had to worry about getting a reaction. I usually have lemon or tarter sauce in the house but I didn’t. So I didn’t eat it and I couldn’t palm it off on my husband or daughter. My husband got a crab meat roll, it was supposed to be fresh Maine crabmeat, he said it tasted like just out of the can with too much mayo and so tiny. They remembered his fries but not his cole slaw. I called and gave them a chance to make it right. They said next time you come in we will give you a large tarter sauce and a large cole slaw. This is the third time they have screwed our order up. I said no thanks three strikes you’re out.

Great family owned business. Fresh and delicious food for a reasonable price. My son worked for them a while and I know that they are clean and decent to their customers.

I’ve been going to this place off and on for 10 years. I ordered the lobster bisque and it was horrible. The lobster casserole is just lobster with stuffing. I am very disappointed in the food I received. My daughter ordered the fried clams & fried shrimp which she loved. My two stars rating is for the lobster product only.

I can’t believe this place is so close to my house and I have never been before. The staff was unbelievably friendly, very hard working group and they know exactly what they’re doing! We got a shrimp plate, clam plate, and clam chowder. I am no stranger to fried seafood and I can confidently say this is some of the best I have ever had. We cannot wait to go back and work our way through the menu!

Just had lunch there. Best clam strips, shrimp, and crab roll ever. We ate outside and it was very pleasant with the picnic tables and beautiful flowers. The staff was very helpful. This is a jewel of a seafood place. We don’t live in the area but are already planning to eat here next time we come!

It was extremely busy when I arrived around 6:00. The staff was very professional and organized. I was there about 10 – 15 minutes the phone continuously rang for takeout. I ordered a med order of Clam Strips and a small order of Scallops. My food was absolutely delicious. My tarter sauce was good too. I love this place.

We always get the seafood plate to go and it’s the greatest! It feeds 3 people in this house easily. For $ 20 can’t be beat! I’m a huge fan of the fried scallops and onion rings in particular.

What a hidden treasure! The staff is amazing: warm, friendly, determined to make their customers happy. The food was outstanding: the swordfish kebabs rocked and the lobster roll was fresh, plentiful and delish. It was fun to sit under the summer sky at the picnic table and munch away. Highly recommend this gem!

We ordered the fried clams, onion rings, fish/chips and fish sandwich. The meals were huge and delicious and the folks that worked there were super nice.

OK, fried seafood is tricky. Some places have great food and small portions. Other places, well small portions and not so great food. The Lobster Barn has great food and great portions. I’m a sucker for a good seafood platter so when I first tried the Lobster Barn my expectations were low based on other places on the south shore I’ve gone to for seafood. I was happily proven wrong here! The plate is worth the price as far as I;m concerned. Its 23 bucks after taxes, about what I’ve paid for plates half the size at places in the area. I’ve also had the haddock plate which was a nice big piece of haddock and fries. The crab cake I thought was OK, but nothing to write home about. It was good, but I guess I’m just used to a different style of crab cake. If you want seafood without the miniscule portions, head over to the Lobster Barn. I’m hooked and I will be exploring the menu further.

Fish here is simply excellent. Fresh and local produce makes this a real find. Their prepared dishes don’t disappoint either. Best fish and chips on the South Shore. They don’t have much as far as seating, but if you want great seafood this is the place.

Really wonderful local place. The woman who owns it brought myself and my two friends a sample of their clam chowder which was excellent. Nice gesture too! The portions were generous and well prepared.

I have been here few times since moving back in the area. Its the same when I left 8 years ago AWESOME!!! Only draw back is they don’t make seafood pie every day and it sells out in like 10 minutes. That is one pie ill eat all day.

I went here last summer to pick up lobsters and oysters. The lobsters were from Canada, and the oysters were from Virginia. I was so disappointed that a local business is not supporting the local fishing community. And the oysters were not good… I even found baby crabs in several of them… weird.

So with a craving for lobster, a perfect sunday with blue skies and weather in the mid 70’s, and a little less in my pocket than dinner in a seaside restaurant would cost, I searched Unilocal for the alternative. I drove past the Lobster Barn a few weeks back and had a «huh I didn’t know that» moment. Unilocal filled in the rest. I wanted to cook something at home, so fresh was the way to go, as fried seafood isn’t going to travel the 15 minutes and still be good, also I think I can manage to make lobster. Even have the really big pot for it. I noticed they did a boil for eat-in(or pre-cooked) so I asked if they’d do a couple to take out. They did with no problems, and after 15 minutes in the hot water, dinner was served. So good, plenty of lobster, lots of steamers, corn, potatoes and even the hot dog was one of the best i’ve had. Why not 5 stars? Rolls for sale on the counter had mold spots. It’s easy to miss, and fresh bakery gets like that fast in hot weather. GOHERE, TAKEHOME, COOKYOURSELF and SAVESERIOUSBUCKAGE.(cost of 2 boils less than $ 45)

Recently tried pre cook food here. Wife ordered the fried clams and I ordered the combination plate of smelt and clams and a small order of onion rings. Everything was cooked perfectly, the onion rings were top notch. The portions were larger than expected and I could not finish mine. Will definitely be ordering precooked again.

Yummy and fresh, a great local place to pick up take-out that won’t leave you clutching your stomach and yelling«what the heck was in that?» The lobster rolls are simple and divine, chock-full of tender lobster meat. You’ll get a generous helping of fries to complete the treat. I’ve also tried the fish n’ chips – definitely the best I’ve ever had. The lazy man’s lobster also made its way to my house one day – though it’s not a recommend(kind of pricey, tasty but not memorable). It’s a little hard to find and clearly a local-fave, so you may get an eye-shot when you walk in the first time. Don’t let it throw you, the staff is nice and friendly once they get over their initial shock of seeing a newcomer. Ask for drawn butter and tartar sauce and make sure to check out the already-made dinners!
