Oh dear. We chose this place as my friend is vegan, so we went because it was one of the only places she could eat. So, how was it? We walked in and asked for a table for 3, he sat us on a table at the back where none of us could see a thing because it was so dark! So we moved ourselves to the front of the restaurant where the doors were. He came back around with the menus and said ‘oh, I said to sit on the other table because…’ and he had pointed to the floor where had mopped with a lot of bleach. We were not going to move. He brought out some poppadoms with dips, and our drinks. Which I have to admit was probably the best part of our meal. I wish I had now eaten more of those poppadoms. We ordered a vegetable dansak, mushroom fried rice, a plain nan and a chicken tikka masala. From which I had told my mum, «you can never go wrong with a chicken tikka masala.» Or at least, I have never known it to. After sitting waiting, the guy came back over and asked if we were ready because we still hadn’t finished our poppadoms,(we had told him that as our vegan friend could not eat the nan bread, she wanted them with her food.) He was very confused, left it ten more minutes before coming back and asking again if we had finished, which at this point I told him that we wanted the food now, and not to take the poppadoms. As we waited for the next 5 minutes for him to bring out the food, we heard a hum in the background followed by a ping. Oh. No. This is not how you cook Indian food. Anyway, we received the food and it tasted disgusting, very bland, no flavour and the texture of the chicken was just wrong. So I told him how I felt, and he asked me if I would like anything else. I had said no, but he had insisted that should I have a Korma, it would be better for me. So I took his recommendation thinking again, you can’t go wrong with a Korma, and how wrong I was. In the end I did not eat any of the curries, and after tasting brine on the mushrooms where they had come out of a tin, was ready to run as fast as I could or just straight up refuse to pay. However as my friend had enjoyed her(also bland) vegetable dansak, she wanted to pay and what did we get for a discount? Half price of one of the curries. Fuming. I would not recommend this to anyone, after still paying 31 euros for food we didn’t eat, it put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day. There are lovely Indian places in Palmanova, pricier ones but well worth the extra. Go to those, this isn’t Indian food. Even Smartprice can’t go wrong with a Tikka Masala sauce.
