We decided to try Serantes because it’s Cocina Vasca and has a good fish menu. I had the clams and they were very good; my wife had a cod appetizer and really liked it — generous enough for a dinner portion. You can also sit at the bar and do pintxos for dinner — not a large selection but enough for a good meal. Expect a lively crowd for dinner. Overall worth a try.

I got a recommendation at my hotel when I asked for a «Typical Basque restaurant». It has a wide offer of basque fish and meat dishes. I tried the Sirloin with mushrooms and it was marvelous. Meat that is soft and tasteful. After, I had the homemade desert and it was a mix of pies and ice cream, it was also wonderful. The service is not the best, but it is tolerable given the restaurant was full and food was superb. My personal note is that I have high expectations because my girlfriend is Basque, so I am used to eat in the region. I highly recommend it, you won’t regret.

Recommended by our hotel (Gran Hotel Domine). Just down the street… Very good food and friendly service. Front half is an old styled bar and lounge, back room a little quiet and more modern.
