Feetup Yellow Nest

We came to Spain on the first leg of our first European adventure. Three girls ready to hit the streets and get our Gaudi on, take no prisoners! At Yellow Nest, our hostel experience was great and we had a fantastic time exploring Barcelona.
Security:
Yellow Nest was organized. We signed in our first night with ID and got three cards: One to tie around your bed post so no one would steal your bed while you were on the Rambla, another for your locker, and another as an ID card to show the front desk personnel when you entered the hostel. You had to be buzzed in by the staff once they saw you on the video cameras, so no strangers could just walk into the hostel.
The rooms were locked with electronic key cards. In addition the common room and kitchens were also monitored by video cameras at the front desk. We always felt safe inside and outside the hostel.
Staff:
The staff were very helpful and always pleasant. They spoke excellent English and had great recommendations for places to go and things to see.
Location:
The hostel was hard to find at first because it is located on a street you can’t drive on. When arriving, make sure you know the main street it is located off of, because our cab driver from the airport had no idea how to find it once we got in the vicinity.
Around the hostel there are at least five fruit markets, three grocery stores, a fromagerie, a butcher, several banks, a café on the corner, two tiny pub-​restos, a Laundromat, and a dessert café. Badal subway station is within a ten or fifteen minute walk, linking you up to La Rambla in 20 min or less.
If you’re looking for a crazy nightlife in the vicinity, you won’t find it. It’s located a little out of the way from the action near the beach or La Rambla, but a few streets down are a bunch of nice cafes and restaurants that should satisfy any foodie, plus you don’t have to worry about them being excessively touristy.
Facilities
Rooms:
We were in a 4 person room. Two bunk beds, single person with teeny ladders to get up top. Four lockers in the room, two stacked on the other two. They were big enough for my large luggage and held everything I needed with space to spare. If there were little hooks inside everything would have been 100 per cent perfect.
The room had lots of light with openable windows to bring in fresh air, complete with curtains to block the light. The beds came with mattress sheet, pillowcase, sheet, and orange polar fleece blanket for warmth. Only drawbacks: no air circulation if it was cold and if the window’s open the sound from the game room come right in. Solution though? Earplugs. Solved.
The only thing that could have made the room utterly perfect would have been a few hooks on the wall for your coat or hoodie but one draped these items over the bed to make do.
Bathroom:
The group bathroom on the lower floor was clean and equipped with four sinks, handsoap, paper towel dispenser, one hair dryer, two bathroom stalls and three full shower stalls with a stool, shower curtain and hook on the inside for bringing in everything you need. I never had to fight for space because everyone was there at different times. Water was not always hot but at least it was warm.
Kitchen:
The kitchen was stainless steel and equipped with everything you could need — except a kettle. Toaster, microwave, pots and pans, Ikea plates, utensils, cutting boards, you name it. We boiled water in pots for tea. Shelving is available to put your groceries on and there were two working fridges for perishables. Peelable stickers with name and departure date on them were available to label your food.
Rentals:
Safes, towels, extra key cards, extra locks were available for rent. If your luggage was too big you could put it downstairs in the luggage room. We used this room to put in our stuff after checkout (12:00 pm) on the last day so we could run about the city without our heavy bags, which was great. We came back in a few hours to retrieve it.
Extras:
–Internet in common room on three computers (not cheap but extremely convenient)
–games room with pool and foozeball (pay as you go for the fooze)
–the hostel organized some hot nights out with great deals (10 E for all-​you-​can-​drink sangria before leaving the hostel, payment for your subway on the way there, cover, and a shot at the bar/​club. We definitely took advantage of this and had a great time.
–breakfast available for 2.50 E (basic but convenient)
–pop/​beer/​food/​coffee machines in common area
–big terrace up top with lounge chairs for catching the rays in the morning with your coffee or whatever you fancy
Atmosphere:
Clean, chill and fun. I’d recommend it highly to a first time traveller. We’d never been backpacking before and were pleasantly surprised by how clean and well organized it was. We met some great people and everyone was fun and nice. Great experience!

Un hostel con un ambiente extraordinario, motivado por su agradable staff. Queda al lado del Nou Camp por lo que es ideal para ver algun partido del Barça, aunque esta perfectamente comunicado con el resto de la ciudad con Bus y Metro.
Me llamaron poderosamente la atención sus zonas comunes, donde hay conexión a Internet, tienen un pequeño gimnasio y hasta una sala de cine!!.
Realmente un sitio perfecto para lo poco que cuesta

I have been traveling for 2 months and stayed in a lot of hostels and the staff and hostel are super nice compared to the one in France per exemple. Totally recommend it. good staff, clean and awesome people.

its from far the best!! be careful to choose well where you stay,
there is a lot of bad places in this touristic city. I talk by experience!!!

One of the best hostels. the staff was really helpful. the rooms were neat and comfy. the hostel is close to a metro station to go to the city center.

the staff is nice, rooms are clean, the common area is perfect to meet other people. The hostel is at 10 minutes in metro from the center so it is not a problem.

I recommend! That place is genial. I have enjoyed my time there. The metro is easily reachable, the personnel is just great. They are always smiling and ready to help. The kithen was always clean as the bathroom.
