As you age, crazy things start to happen. As my grandpa used to say, you lose hair where you want to keep it, and grow hair where you don’t. Welcome to your 30’s, ladies and gentlemen. Because of my skin tone and hair color, I’ve had limited success with laser hair removal. Also, that whole schtick where they say it feels like you’re being snapped with a rubber band is a bunch of bull. Back in my New York days, a vain attempt at permanently removing hair on my bikini line with laser hair removal still goes down in my personal beauty maintenance history as one of the most torturous and cruel moments of my life. And that includes some of my worst heartbreaks. That said, when you have a few annoying hairs that you’d rather not see, a good alternative to laser is electrolysis(aka: «epilering» på dansk). I have a lady colleague who goes to Visage for sugaring, and we have compared the horror stories of unwanted hair to embarrassingly detailed degrees. She was the one who sent me to Visage, and sure enough, they do the trick for all your hair removal needs. There are three girls who do electrolysis there, Linda, Tilde, and Birgitte. I’ve gotten treatments from Linda and Tilde, both of whom are good. Worth mentioning is that Tilde is a bit gentler if you’re hyper sensitive, where as Linda is all business in removing your unwanted hairs. They also do all the other fancy salon things here, like waxing, eyebrow and eyelash coloring, eyelash extensions and curling, facials, laser hair removal, permanent makeup, as well as massage, and my guess is that they are all of similar, fantastic, quality.
