Kebabistan on Nørrebrogade is one of my absolute favourite places to get a kebab in Copenhagen. I would highly recommend anything they have with lamb — for example their lamb kebab. They recommended me to also try one of their turkish breads, that will be next time.

halal guys… yea i got a good couple taste of that stuff here in Manhattan. so how funny is it that we found this place in Copenhagen and its a quiet«must try» place Located in the Red Light District. with my fellow sorority sister/fellow Unilocaler… we trolled into the hunt for this place in the middle of the night… also seeking for *cough cough* some«hoes»…inside story We finally found this spot… its tiny and dont be fooled by the numbers at the other stores… its comfusing but keep going down. The place is dinky… small. fits up to 6 people or so. Cash only i believe. Known for the lamb shawarama… we of course had to get one… even AFTERWEHAD A BIGDINNRROFRAMENANDCURRYRICE… this fellow Unilocaler was INSISTENT that we get it tonight! You see the juicy luscious piece of meat hanging… dripping with fat and goodness… I don’t eat lamb btw. She got everything on it with the white sauce and such… took a bite… and orgasmed… yup I said it… she said it was so good… but but but., I don’t eat lamb… And we JUSTHAD dinner! But when in Copenhagen… I took a bite It was so FULLOFFLAVOR!!! Not gamey at all… Whatever! POINTBEING… COMEHERE! Lamb lover or not!

The Dürüm you order from Kebabistan will have the freshest tomatoes, onions, and the like wrapped up along with some of the tastiest lamb around. I was duly impressed with how clean their open kitchen looked as well. This is a no-frills joint that might remind some of us from California of our favorite hole-in-the-wall taquerias in terms of both décor and atmosphere. Slather some hot chilli oil on your Dürüm for a more enhanced flavor and a slightly endorphin rush type effect. I, for one, am glad that the Kurds went to Denmark and brought their cuisine with them!

Here’s what you need to know about Kebabistan: 1. the name is great. When it comes to late-night pita-y options, sometimes that’s enough to sell me. BUTWAIT! 2. it’s open late, even on Sunday nights 3. despite being flanked by other similar places, Kebabistan is the reported«best in Copenhagen» and the numbers in the shop seemed to corroborate 4. it’s gentle on the wallet(and there’s an ATM just down the street for those truly in need) Only falafels — not shawarmas — were consumed, but then were *devoured*. Good enough that, despite a short time in Copenhagen, a repeat visit to Kebabistan was discussed. Sauce-o-meter: go for the white(garlic), and consider passing on the orange(Thousand Islands). Unilocal note:(for this non-Danish palate) great selection of drinks available in the cooler. Various flavours of ciders and soda/pop/soda-pops I’d never encountered before. A delicious experiment awaits!

Pita shawarma for 20 kroner?! uh, ja tak!!! It was ox meat but noneless still tasty. This place isn’t the best cause the meat wasn’t as juicy but not bad for 20 kroner!
