This particular location is centrally located and very visible on the walking street, and if you’re used to North American bakeries, you’ll notice that the standard quality of the breads and pastries are much higher. Other reviewers have pointed out that there are better bakeries in the city, but for a visitor to Copenhagen this is a very good and accessible introduction.

Bakeries are a dangerous place for me. Each pastry looks beautiful, and I run the risk of fulfilling the adage of one’s eyes being bigger than one’s stomach. Limiting myself to two pastries here, I got a raspberry Danish and a cinnamon roll. Both were delicious, but the cinnamon roll is whats stands out in my memory — it was not only generous with the cinnamon and icing, but also moist all throughout, not just in the middle part.

Coffee and bread shop with a stylish trendy set up. They sell many different breads– both savoury and sweet. Along with the breads they also sell various warm drinks like coffee, latte, and tea. The prices are a bit high for one piece of bread, but I guess everything in this city is expensive. Just to compare though, you can get a hot dog for once piece of bread. I got a medium size load of bread with pepperoni. It wasn’t anything amazing, it just had 3 pepperoni in the middle with some tomato sauce. The bread was soft in the middle and crunchy outside, but wasn’t really flavoured.

It isn’t bad, but if you’re visiting and looking for the best and most authentic Danish bakeries this is NOT the place to visit. I tried many pastry places during my trip, and this was the most commercial chain-establishment-like and didn’t come anywhere close to the quality or experience of other nearby options. It’s okay in a pinch, but otherwise keep looking.

I have mixed feelings about this place. On one hand, the food is really quite nice! I’m very fond of their scones. On the other hand, it’s quite pricey, and due to the good location, it’s always suuuuuper crowded. You do not want to go in here on a weekend unless you feel like standing in line. I’ve even had to stand in line on a weekday. And some of the staff has been well… I wouldn’t say rude because they haven’t done anything wrong, but they just refused to return my smiles or «have a good day“‘s. I’d say that if you’re hungry and need food RIGHTNOW, this isn’t the place to go. But if you’re feeling a bit hungry and willing to wait a bit, their pastries really are great. Just know that you most likely won’t get a place to sit. Other than that, this is an ok place!

Summary: Bakery chain with reasonably good coffee(Nespresso). Pastries are very well made. Coffee cups are of a nice quality and quite portable. Note that there are several within view of each other. There is one here and one in Illium. This one has a better selection, as it’s larger. Pastries: It’s going to be a long while before I can pronounce these things in Danish, let alone spell them. Here’s what I got: 1) I had the green and black pastry, which was described to me as a rum cake similar to that which is traditionally served during holdiays. I LOVED it. The Green is almost green tea-esque in flavor. The underlying stuff is all chocolate, a thicker, slightly grainy texture. The chocolate out-layer can’t be enjoyed without smiling. 2) They are known for those cookies that are red and the carrot cake. I can’t wait to try them.

Cinnamon danish! Now having tried another bakery, I think lagkagehusset and Holm’s bager are on the same level of quality, the price isn’t much of a difference. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were owned by the same person or something.

Try their cupcakes! I am HUGE fan of this baker’s cupcakes. They ROCK. The service is people behind the counter are sooooo nice! The waiting time is bearable. The sitting is OK. I would have given this place 5* if they offered a wider diversity of hot drinks.
