One sunny spring day, I accidentally found myself in this part of town, and in my usual fashion of visiting cemetery parks(kirkegård) that are quite common around here, I said to myself, «why not?» The kirkegård concept is something that I’m slowly warming up to, since I moved to Denmark. I would’ve never thought a cemetery would be a place I’d actually enjoy visiting. But amongst the old stone paths, between the sleepy willow tree branches, and through the beautiful spring flowers that pepper the park with colors, sweet fragrances, and memories of loved ones, I actually find it almost hard to believe that something so elegant and picturesque could exist right in the middle of town. There is a sense of comfort that envelops you when you come in. That peacefulness that belies the headstones, and the hope that even through death, there is life, beauty, and color.
