Butcher/restaurant with a very interesting mix of vibes. You’re sitting at a place that completely looks like a butcher shop, including the hanging meat at the back and a pig’s head and fresh meat in the vitrine, but at the same time the candle light and nicely set tables create the feeling of a trendy restaurant. We ordered the Butcher’s menu which included 7 shared dishes. The service was very fast and new dishes kept coming sometimes even before we finished the previous one. As the name implies there were a lot of meat dishes, and all of them were fresh and with great flavor combinations. My favorites were the homemade mozzarella cheese that came with the beetroots, the veal terrine and the pork croquettes. By the seventh dish we were really full and they had saved the sausage with mashed potatoes for last! Great experience and great food. I guess the only reason for ranking it only at three stars is that I don’t see myself coming here again necessarily. Maybe the whole butcher concept isn’t for me, and I crave a different atmosphere. But can definitely recommend this place for any meat lover!

We walked in at 10am sharp for brunch on Sunday, and were greeted with a cheeky, «I hope you’re hungry.» from our server. (Un)fortunately, we were very hungry! After ordering, we waited about 15 minutes and I got my Bloody Mary. It was one of the better ones I’ve had but at 95 kr I think it is a little steep. a relatively small glass and not even a celery stalk! Then Eva K. got her brunch board. She politely waited to eat until I got my food, which was a little over 5 minutes later. I don’t think it’s a good idea to serve customers at the same table that far apart, and the wait seems even longer when you’re hungry and looking at someone else’s food! Eventually my Steak and Eggs(225 kr) arrived and I dug right in. Probably the best one that I’ve ever… wait a sec. Doesn’t the menu say steak and egg-S-, meaning plural? There was only one egg. Lacking another egg wasn’t a deal-breaker but you should strike off the S to stop false advertising. The steak itself was perfectly cooked to medium, as I requested when asked, and the sauce was great. The menu says it comes with beans; I didn’t see any but I didn’t miss them. Our server kept coming by with more and more plates for Eva’s brunch so she certainly got her money’s worth! I tried her leverpostej and although I am not normally a fan, it was great. Although the food garners 5 stars, the service was off. Before ordering, Eva K. asked if there was any poultry in the brunch(which she does not eat) and one server assured her that there wasn’t. When another server brought the brunch board over, he listed duck sausage as one of the items. When we pointed out this problem, he told us that he’d bring over another frankfurter instead. Eva flagged him down two more times and he said it was on its way but eventually we found out that he was waiting for her to finish the brunch board so they could bring out a frankfurter that she could enjoy hot. Even if we’d been told that in the beginning, that wouldn’t have worked out since I got my dish much later and she decided to be considerate and wait. However, he righted the situation by taking away her brunch board and bringing her a completely fresh one with two frankfurters instead of the duck sausage. Nice save! Seeing all the 4 and 5 star reviews, I was disappointed by the service but all’s well that ends well. Now I know where to get my steak and eggs fix.

Fleisch, Your good food saved your ass. There were so many mishaps in that Sunday morning brunch Mina K, Anders A. and I attended as written in Mina K. review. It was a bit odd that they served(The Butcher’s) brunch the way they served a 3-meal course(or more) by waiting until I finished with one before serving another, because we all know brunch is brunch and we would like to have everything in sight so we can devise a best strategy to munch them all(and to instagram it, obviously). But no, the brunch came bit by bit so I was continuously surprised on how much food that the brunch actually includes. At first I thought it was too expensive for a bowl of bread and a plate of charcuterie for 195 kr, but then the salad with buffalo mozarella, scrambled egg with penny bun mushrooms and bacon, leverpostej, and the plate of fruit, strudel and ice cream came. Honestly, it was a bit overwhelming for me, so make sure you are really hungry before you dare to take the challenge to have the butcher’s brunch. There was a bit misunderstanding at first about the poultry content of the brunch since I don’t eat poultry at all and the waitress said that there was no poultry in it, not even when I said specifically«duck sausage». Nope, but there it was, sitting on my charcuterie plate, but it’s all good since they removed that plate and replaced me with a new one, sans quack. I can testify one thing, the food is good. The bacon? oh my god. So crispy, so tasty — and I do judge a brunch place by the way they do their bacon, but of course this place being an actual butcher should do good bacon, or else… I didn’t try the leverpostej, but they looked homemade and tasty and Mina K could testify to that. The scrambled egg was a bit runny but the bacon saved the day, definitely! As for the tomato salad, well — I don’t always eat salad, but when I do, I make sure they’re slathered in ridiculous amount of dressing, or cheese and in this case the buffalo mozarella was super YUM so I finished with a clean plate. All in all, the food was amazing, the service was slow, but since the food was so good, I am willing it to give it four star. Imma giving you a second chance, Fleisch, but that’s because you’re so YUM!

You’re not gonna find many tourists here, that’s for damn sure. This isn’t your traditional Danish restaurant you’ll read about in your travel books. This is a locals spot and for the locals who love great food as well as appreciate the local food movement. Sandwiched between some highly rated restaurants in Vestebro, the meatpacking district of Copenhagen you’ll find this butcher/restaurant. In this super burgeoning ‘hood with a ton of foodie restaurants filled with the ever so hip and beautiful, Fleisch fits right in. Dark, candlelight, a little hipstery; nailing that upscale casual vibe. A meat forward menu, but alas veggies and even a fish dish can be found. From their food to their cocktails(but not actually their beer), they source local. As I learned from our bartender, they aren’t ones to waste any part of the plants or animals. The sausage we ate was all done in house. The order a whole pig from a nearby farm and use said whole pig. Did I mention that this is a butcher shop by day? Yep. Butcher shop/casual sandwich eatery by day, gourmand small plates(they aren’t that small) by night. They suggested 3 – 4 plates per person, in all actuality, 2 would be fine and me and the hubs are big eaters. Every dish was so flavorful, so fresh, so well prepared. This was a few weeks back and they change the menu often, so bare with me. A few highlights in some form: — Pumpkin ravioli, chorizo, hazelnut and sage — Quail with chestnuts and blackberry sauce — Danish Vibygård Lamb with beetroots and smoked purée of celeriac and goat cheese As well as a few others not found on the online menu. Every bite. Every bite was so rich, so tasty. The cocktail man is literally the man. We talked for the 2 hours we were posted up at the bar and I can’t speak more highly of a stranger. Highlights include a bacon infused manhattan and a duck fat sazerac with actual homemade duck fat syrup. All syrups are made in house. Creative food and cocktail menus that focus on and highlight local products, mixed with the wonderful and attentive service in this hip upscale butcher/restaurant makes this easily one of the better dinners in our European trip. 5 stars. As a former New Yorker, now Bay Area gal, Fleisch matches some of the best meals I’ve eaten in NYC, San Francisco and the likes. End meal costs about $ 100USD pp, but we left full and with about 4 – 5 cocktails/beer included.

We came in around 20:00 — 21:00, it was fully packed. The staff was friendly and effective. We had the chefs menu(7 courses 325kr pp) which was exquisite. The grune veltliner completed it beautifully. Great music and atmosphere. The only downside is that are stay is too short to go back here again.
