Bodega is a small café, nestled by the south wall around Assistens Kirkegård. Exterior and décor is somewhat anonymous, but the interior is quite cozy. The main room is dominated by a rather large bar area, and has seating around it. The place has a nice capacity, which was good, because when I was there, we showed up 8 – 10 people for lunch. Not a problem. A definite plus about the place is that they serve their breakfast/brunch menu until 14.00, even on weekdays. So I opted for their scrambled eggs and salmon, a breakfast favourite of mine. The salmon was good, the eggs well cooked(or scrambled as it was), but they served it on rye(?), rather than wheat or wholewheat toast, as you’d normally do. Don’t get me wrong, there wasn’t anything wrong with it, and I like rye, but it just made the whole thing taste more like a lunch thing, rather than a breakfast thing. We were there for lunch, so no harm done, but I definitely wouldn’t order it if I was there for breakfast or brunch. The menu is quite traditional Danish, without the place having a particularly traditional feel to it. I’d call that a plus, that you can serve traditional dishes without jumping on the whole cliché bandwagon with brown wooden panels and mounted deer heads. All in all, not a bad place, but not a remarkable one, either.

This place is awesome. Hands down awesome. The manager greeted us when we walked in last Saturday night and was friendly and spoke excellent English. It wasn’t crowded(we arrived around 11pm) and there was a DJ playing contemporary tunes but not too loud, so we could still have a conversation. I wish EVERY bar was like that! It’s a very chill atmosphere. My husband and I had some amazing cocktails here– the house take on(gin) brambles, made with homemade fruit jam. For about 8 quid each, about the price you pay in London. I highly recommend this place!

Decent brunch place in Copenhagen with its three set brunch menus and other breakfast and lunch dishes. After hunting for a free table in several other places we were happy to escape this windy Sunday morning and find a spot at Café Bodega at last. We started off with a croissant each, then my friends each got a brunch menu and I had the scrambled eggs with bacon. They were all over the moon and very satisfied with their food and so was I, only I wish I could finish my humble portion compared to their huge plates filled with an assortment of brunch items ranging from pancakes to musli and sausages. The waitress seemed overwhelmed with the high tempo and forgot to bring my orange and carrot juice(tasty once it arrived though.) but found time to come over and make sure we were enjoying the meal, though with an aura of stress in the form of a virtual halo that I think must have been obvious to everyone. So sure, we all had a decent meal and brunching in Copenhagen is now checked off my list of «to do’s». I’ll probably go brunch somewhere else next time since this city is clearly full of alternatives and Café Bodega does not have any spectacular sides that make me long back for it dreamingly.
