A great local theatre that is a great fit and contributor to Osborne Village. The venue isn’t new but it’s also not run down, just well maintained and used. It’s an intimate theatre that offers up interesting yet comfy seats that slides forward for a more comfortable seat but slides back for a more upright seat(or when someone wants to squeeze by and you can just slide back and let then through). The lobby sells alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks that you can even bring inside to the theatre! How awesome is that! The MTC doesn’t let you do that for sure. And everyone is responsible enough to throw out their garbage so another plus for this theatre. The crowd depends on the type of show you will see but for the most part this place leans more to the 20 – 39 artist/hipster crowd. It’s a laid back and fun scene. On a side note, the washrooms are pretty clean here.

There is not much bad that can be said about a venue that supports local theatre! The inside is a beautiful lobby that sells local art and the bathrooms are nice and clean. My one issue is that the seats are from the 70’s and won’t fit any slightly overweight body types. I am a very short mostly slender person who fits anywhere and I had a hard time getting into and feeling comfortable in my seat.

As a frequent traveler throughout Canada, I really look forward to visiting Winnipeg’s Osborne Village and its unique arts and culture. The Gas Station Theater, a 232 seat venue, is a leading establishment in the area hosting a variety of professional and amateur thespians. Some of best national and local theatre, music, dance, comedy and poetry show their stuff at this intimate Osborne Village venue. The facility also boasts an art gallery featuring works by local visual artists. The acts, include free shows, so an evening of entertainment will not break the bank. The hours are as eclectic as the shows, so it is advised to call for details. The seats are comfortable, well positioned and the ambiance is welcoming. I understand that the Theatre is also available to professional and community arts groups on a rental basis. For a Night or Day of Great Entertainment in Winnipeg, The Spice King Strongly Encourages You To Visit the Gas Station Theatre!
