A great dinner in Winnipeg!!! Tapastry is located on Niakwa Road in a wonderful setting within a golf course. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting. Service is incredible. Servers are knowledgeable, kind and make sure the dining experience is memorable. Food is tapas style, but portions are large and friendly. The liver, lamb, duck dishes are definitely highlights. Price points are fair and allow a splurge for a wine list that is evolving and improving. One thing I would recommend to the restaurant is to ensure wines are maintained at appropriate cellar temperatures. Something to think about. Enjoy Tapastry in Winnipeg!

This is the next evolution of dining at the Niakwa Country Club — small plates. The place is called Tapastry… which is «Tapas-Try». The dining room is the same but the food has changed with sharable portions and lower prices. The plate portions for some dishes could be the equivalent of some entrees at some other places but most of the portions are larger than what a typical tapas plate would be. For two people 3 – 4 dishes would be good for dinner as each dish ranges $ 12-$ 17. Chicken livers($ 13) — pan seared livers served on crostini, topped with blue cheese and a red wine sage jus was really good and didn’t taste livery at all. Big chunks of liver with a delicious wine sauce though a tad more blue cheese would have been nice. Duck confit($ 13) — a slow roasted duck leg perched on a bed of butternut squash gnocchi with spinach and sauerkraut. This was a really good dish — tender duck leg sitting on top of the most tender butternut squash gnocchi. The sauce was so complementary to everything on the plate — I would order this again. Lamb chops($ 17) — Grilled lamb chops served with a twice baked goat cheese soufflé. Dressed with sautéed tomatoes and basil. Another great dish — you get 4 tender lamb chops that paired really well with the divine goat cheese soufflé. Chocolate pâté($ 8) — House made chocolate pâté served on a bed of berry coulis. this was ok, the pâté didn’t have enough chocolate flavour and crumbled too much. Service was very warm and friendly. So despite the kinda uptight country club feel of the place, it’s a really nice place to dine at with lots of small dishes to choose from.
