Though I no longer live in the peg whenever I return I always try to visit this place. It is nice to have a dish that you love that always stays the same even after many years have passed. My go to is the spicy peanut noodle soup with pork chops. You can get it without the pork chops but there is something about dropping them into the soup to let them suck up that yummy peanut broth that goes so very well together. This soup is marked as spicy and to be sure it is, though not overpoweringly. If you can’t handle spice this is not for you though. It can also be a bit messy to eat so don’t wear white when eating it. This soup is worth the travel. Definitely try it out.

The soup here is always great. I love the spicy peanut soup with pork. I get it almost every time! The Kung Po chicken is good, but not nearly spicy enough(as in not at all)

This place is awesome! Every time I come to Winnipeg, I try and make it in for their Spicy Peanut Noodle Soup. It’s to die for! The fried rice is delicious, the beef with cabbage, and Kung po chicken is delicious. Definitely a fave spot in The Peg!

So good. The vegetable mooshi with mushrooms and tofu is great! Also the deep fried green onion cake.

I think this was the worst food I’ve ever had in Winnipeg. After 5 minutes we paid and left because it was so gross. The chicken was deep fried and white because it had no seasoning. The curry was bland and the beef tasted dry and flavourless like it was frozen for weeks. We got home and started eating ice cream to try and get the taste out of our mouths. I don’t know who rated this food good but i was warned by a few people that the food was awful but I was tricked by what are probably fake reviews. I’ve since texted around to see if anyone I know had been there and the ones ones that had said they’d never go again. It was also really expensive. On the same street you can get much better.

1. Food — Just okay, definitely expected expected a bigger punch of flavour from«northern Chinese restaurant», in fact none of the items reflected the food from this region 2. Cleanliness — Could be better, definitely don’t use the bathroom, décor was sad and needs an update 3. Service — Good, always had enough water and tea, food came out fast 4. Pricing — Good, $ 8 — $ 15, for a complete meal, lots of food 5. Originality — none :(all classic dishes, i would love to see some specials and creativity

Great little hole in the wall joint. We ordered a couple soups to share and the house special chow mein in hot pot and the serving sizes were perfect for 3 people to share and not feel stuffed afterwards. Everything was delicious but the celery and ground beef chili noodle soup was by far my favorite. Spicy deliciousness.

This little hole in the wall is my favorite ‘go to’ place. There’s just something about the atmosphere that you know you’re here just for the food. I got the Deep Fried Pork Chop w/Spicy Peanut Noodle Soup(otherwise known as dandan mian) and my partner got the Celery and Ground Beef w/Chili Noodle Soup. Both were superb and we can’t get enough. Service might not be top notch but that doesn’t matter when you’re absorbed in your food. you honestly don’t want to talk to anyone. There is also the delicious Deep Fried Green Onion Cake which is worth sharing and dipping in your soup. Service is definitely fast and I think they just have a huge pot boiling in the back– beware that when you first dig in it will be hot as if being on the burner for the while. Regardless it gets the job done and does it right.

When I’m in Winnipeg I ALWAYS go to Spicy Noodle House for some hot and sour noodle soup. It’s the best I’ve had ever… I travel a lot … this is my favourite!

Everyone that comes must try the spicy peanut noodle soup. I moved to Vancouver and have come back religiously every time I visit for it. I’ve even brought it back in a thermos in cargo for my husband. It’s THAT good.

Just delightful. Comfy and welcoming on cold Winnipeg winter days(and year-round), this Osborne Village staple is a sure thing for tasty northern Chinese cuisine. As the name suggests, their noodle soups are wonderful and the standard stir-fry and hot-pot dishes are consistently good as well. Try the little pancake wrap things(I forget what they’re called!). Service is fast and friendly.
