Best Western Pembina Inn & Suites

My family lives in Toronto and every year we go to Winnipeg to visit family — and every year we stay at Best Western Pembina Hwy. We’re huge fans of the hotel.
Features:
Well located for driving around the city. Pony Corral next door is great — with a large patio during the summer. Surrounding area includes: gas station, multiple restaurants — fast-​food, patio, and nice options available, nail salon, u-​haul rental, and a few nightlife spots (for 40+ set mostly). Indoor pool with slide is great for the kids. Breakfast served: cereal, bagels/​bread, eggs & sausage/​bacon, and homemade waffles. Allows pets — we have stayed here with a large lab and 2 cats without issues. Ample free parking out back.
Staff:
Absolutely amazing! Always happy to help and go above and beyond. We took our dog for a walk and he went down by the Red River and came back disgustingly muddy — all the way up his legs. We talked to the front desk and they happily got maintenance to hook up a hose to help us hose him off. They showed no indication of being put out or inconvenienced, although we were asking them to go above and beyond. On another occasion, while in Winnipeg for my great-grandmother’s funeral, I hoped to scan some photos to make a slideshow. I was prepared to go to the library, but the staff insisted we could use their scanner to scan my 30+ photos. Huge help! We set up in their conference room and did our little project. This was a huge help!
Downside:
I would love to give this hotel a 5-​star rating but they have a moisture problem. Many of the rooms have a very damp feel and a mildew-​ey smell. Our room last year was close to the pool so I dismissed it, but after entering my grandparents’ room on the 3^rd floor, I was blown away by how badly it smelled. Some of the rooms have been ok, but the odd one really reeks. They’ve really got to make some change with that…

My husband and I stayed here with our dog (they accept up to 2 dogs per room; max 80 lbs — they also accept other pets) while traveling across Canada. Best hotel we have ever stayed at! It’s modern, clean, welcoming and reasonably priced. Upon entering our room we had a welcome package for our dog waiting for us: a nice blanket tied with a ribbon and a doggie bag with treats and pet-​friendly hotel info (written ‘to’ the pets hehe). There is a walking trail and a pond next to the hotel parking lot which is very convenient for pet owners. They even had separate, labeled towels for pets. The food was excellent and the staff was very accommodating. I can’t say enough about this hotel – we had a great stay!

Not amazing, not bad. Was good for reasonably priced business stay. Bed linen was a bit uncomfortable but not intolerable
Oh ps… they have an awesome waterslide at their pool.
