I was on a road trip, and dropped by this place when I was passing by Windsor. Great food, but the hospitality of servers makes even better! Absolutely loved this small-town restaurant. Fries were fresh and hot, which I loved. You should definitely try milkshakes also! I personally loved the strawberry taste.

I live close to this establishment but don’t frequent here. That will have to change. The nine table outdoor patio is great in the warm weather and is fairly large. Indoor seating is more than adequate. Also available is the enclosed, two table«Doggy Deck» where you can bring your pooch instead of leaving them in a hot car. Well done to this establishment for having this optional available. Parking lot is small but there’s street parking available too that doesn’t cost anything. Food was good although the fries were a bit too salty for my taste. Menu is good. Extensive list of milkshakes. Try the Oreo one and you won’t be disappointed.

My mom and I were wandering around Windsor(I’m not sure if this is considered their«downtown» but it’s where Tatums is) looking for a place to eat that wasn’t something you could find in the HRM. We came across this little gem going up Gerrish street and were immediately drawn in by its nautical themed décor and the large patio opened up into the restaurant by a raised garage door. Menu is pretty much your standard«chip truck» style stuff(seafood, burgers, platters, etc). They had a special of scallops clams and fries on for $ 15. We didn’t get it, but I wanted to note how great the price was! They have daily specials which are laid out on chalk boards going around the walls of the restaurant. I want to first rave about the service– done so with a smile and FAST. I think we waited not even 10 minutes and there were 2 or 3 other tables of people as well. Best I’ve seen and not at the expense of the quality of the food. My mom ordered the clams and chips. She can be a bit fussy but raved about how delicious they were start to finish. Serving size was large and they certainly weren’t skimpy on the clams either. There was a mound of them! They have a really delicious tartar sauce as well. I ordered a one piece fish and chips. Being a Fisherman’s daughter I can also be pretty picky especially when it comes to haddock. My initial reaction was WOW at the serving size. As you’ll see in the photo, it was a massive fillet. Sometimes that’s a bad sign that it’s battered to death but not this time. It was a beautiful serving of haddock and fried to perfection. I got my fries with the spices on them– that was pretty delicious however I found it quite salty. Lately I’ve also had a thing for trying the coleslaw at restaurants. My step mom makes an amazing homemade coleslaw so I try to compare them and if I find them too dry or bland I debate making note to the waitress. No complaints here– coleslaw was just fine. I like that they ask you if you want it to avoid waste. Prices were average for the type of menu. I would definitely return here

Stopped in here for a bite to eat with my mother on Mother’s Day and, gotta say, it was a nice experience. Fry Daddy’s décor screams Nova Scotia. Everything inside is made of wood and has this really rustic look to it. On the wall you’ll see boat steering wheels, pictures of ships, etc. The building itself feels like it belongs on the Halifax waterfront, it just feels like something you’d find on a boardwalk. The parking lot isn’t too large and we had a slight problem with almost not being able to get out when we left, but it was an issue with another customer rather than the establishment. There was enough parking for a decent amount of patrons. The seating was superb though, there was so much space and so many places. Rest assured, you’d find a place to sit even if they’re busy. There are well over a dozen tables to sit at inside, and there were at least half that outside as well if I recall. Fry Daddy’s menu is almost entirely seafood based, so you’re looking at clams, fish, etc. I usually order fish and chips at such restaurants, but I felt inclined to order some clams instead since I haven’t had an order of clams from anywhere for several years now. After paying a very decent price of only $ 11 or so, we were pouring our drinks and picking a table to sit at. The food at Fry Daddy’s is 100% homemade on the spot and all of the food is local(the clams come from Digby), so you know that you’re getting food that is freshly prepared on the spot. I was very surprised when I went to use the bathroom immediately upon finding a spot to sit and, when I returned, both of our servings had been delivered to our table. They were prepared so quickly that it was astounding, and I quietly worried about the quality of the food if they had been able to bring it out so quickly. My fears were quickly erased. The clams? HUGE! They were also coated in a very light batter that wasn’t dripping in grease and tasted nice. I’m not a big clam eater, but I really enjoyed them. What I enjoyed even more were the fries, and I now understand why they have«fry» in the name. Their fries are DELICIOUS. Fresh and homemade, light and not too crispy or greasy. These were wonderful fries, easily the best I’ve had in a good long while. I was also impressed with the size of the portions. We couldn’t finish eating! They brought us so much food! If you’re worried about getting ripped off at a seafood joint, leave those fears at the door when you eat at Fry Daddy’s. I’ll also comment on the service. The staff was exceptionally friendly and always smiling, and they’re very patient when taking your order. They even came to check on us to make sure we were enjoying our food within two or three minutes of eating, which normally never happens at a seafood place like this. I was impressed, they’re definitely good people. If I didn’t live in Halifax, I’d probably want to stop in for lunch here so often. Great place and a major score for Windsor for having this place on Gerrish Street. To anyone in Windsor, if anyone visiting from outside of the province or country ask you to take them somewhere that just feels genuinely Nova Scotian, this is the place! Five stars, you can really feel the potential for a great and long lasting establishment here.

I can say it only keeps getting better and better! This place has a cool décor and some of the best seafood and homemade items in NS. We love the new sandwiches and shakes, and the burgers are incredible! of course the Fish & Chips and Lemon Peppered Haddock bites are some of the best around if not the best. We’ve probably been there at least a dozen times over the winter and I’ve tried to order something different every time, nothing and I mean nothing has been a disappointment yet. The fries with Fry Daddy spice are the best home cut fries that I’ve had EVER. Can’t wait until spring when the garage doors are open and we can sit out on the large patio. Those people that have posted bad reviews should come back and try it again! Anyone who knows anything about restaurants knows its not fair to judge a newly opened place in the first couple of months until they get their staff fully trained. Even during it first couple of months after opening we had gone a couple of times and had some great meals, there may have been some things that were not perfect but this is to be expected in a place during its first few months after opening.
