I love the veggie pad thai from here! It’s tangy, spicy and sweet! The atmosphere could use some work, needs a new renovation or a better location and the service is mediocre. When I preorder for lunch they don’t prepare right away… They wait for you to come… Wait is too long when it’s busy I have waited over an hour before with a party of 9… but it’s well worth the wait. Cheap, awesome Basil court.

I recently came here with a friend and we ordered some soup, a pineapple rice dish and pad Thai. I would specifically like to review the pad Thai. I’m fairly certain this pad Thai was the kind flavoured with ketchup which is not the authentic flavour I enjoy when I order it. Pad Thai sauce gets it’s taste from tamarind, palm sugar and fish sauce(the key ingredients). I can tell when a restaurant doesn’t use this in their sauce. It’s not unheard of to use ketchup in pad Thai sauce if you google it many will come up with that ingredient. I just can’t enjoy it once I’ve had the sweet tamarind tang in a more authentic pad Thai. I’m not sure ketchup is used, but all I know is that it was more tomato tasting and less tangy… I just didn’t enjoy it. Their soup is delicious, and I like their dining area very much, very cozy. I’d go back but I just won’t order pad Thai.

Wife & I are from Ypsi. This is the worst dining experience we have ever had. The food was terrible. I had fish curry. Wife had Chicken curry. Chicken + baby corn only. Asked what kind of fish she mumbled something in Thai. I’m still burping it up 24 hrs later. Waitress told us rice wasn’t included. We paid for 2 bowls. Then we paid with US $ and asked for the exchange rate. She told us it was equal.(Liar).This after an $ 8 tip.

Best Thai food hands down, outside of Thailand and maybe even on Earth! Let me preface it by saying, the atmosphere isn’t superiorly romantic, it is in a basement. BUTTHEFOOD??? Amazing. There are only a select few restaurants(we are spoiled in WIndsor) that you can order anything off the menu and it is consistently amazing. This is one. I have never had a bad meal there, and must have ordered +100 times. Only dined in a handfull of times, the service isn’t lightning, but I could care less. Enjoy the company you are with lol. My personal faves are: Coconut Chicken soup Satay Chicken Chang-mai Noodles(extra chicken) Also recommend: Veggie pad-thai add chicken chicken black bean sauce any of the curries well basically everything!

The Peanut sauce is amazing. So is everything else. But the peanut sauce really shines. Creamy and sweet and spicy. All together with rice noodles and double cooked potatoes and carrots.

Best Thai food ever! I love Thai food, and was pleased to discover this really delicious, fresh Thai restaurant in Windsor(a city that I’m so far finding doesn’t really have a lot to offer in the way of variety). My wife and I love it here! The spice is a little heavy, so adjust your spice levels accordingly. The only drawbacks: One, the bathrooms. I always feel like any diner glancing casually in my direction is going to get an eye-full. These need renovation BAD. Two, the wait. During busy times, be ready to hang out with your dining partners for a while, sometimes close to an hour, before getting your food. But it’s so good and so fresh, it’s worth the wait!

One of my favourite restaurants! I find the staff very friendly. The food is great… althought some people say it isn’t authentic thai, i find the tomatoey pad thai to be amazing. Definitely recommend.

So this review is a combination of mine and my parents that I treated out to here. Levels of spicy: mild, medium, spicy, and very spicy. We had the vegetable pad thai(no peanuts, spicy), Thai spicy noodles(spicy), and sweet and sour pork(medium). I hadn’t eaten at Basil Court for a couple months now so the vegetable pad thai was was very spicy to me. My family is accustomed to spicy food but my mom wasn’t expecting them to put(I forget the name) peppers in our food. She thought it was going to be western spicy(which means not spicy at all to us). My parents thought the meal was okay and thought they could do better at home. I also didn’t know they didn’t like Thai food until during the meal my mom said it in passing. My dad mentioned it earlier in the car but I thought he was just being bias since he loves Chinese food(we’re Chinese). I wish I could’ve tasted my meal properly but because I haven’t had the food in so long I had to gulp down about four glasses of water. I had to even stop eating to wait for refills.

Basil court probably has the best pad thai in Windsor. Definitely come during lunch when it is cheaper. I’d love to review other items but I’m ashamed to say it’s the only dish I’ve had on my several visits here. It is also famous among my friends for shoddy service. But the food is cheap and good!

They prepared the meal fresh. The veggie pad thai and mango salad were good. I would definitely go back and have it again. It’s got authentic flavor. Doesn’t taste like a chain restaurant. I would recommend it.

I am knocking off a star for two easily fixed reasons… First: I’d never dined alone here, only done take out or come with someone else. With no decent mobile coverage and no wifi, a/c cranked way high and glum basement surroundings, this place becomes JAIL. At a minimum please purchase a wireless modem and join 2013. Thank you! Second: my VERY tasty seafood curry was chock full of potatoes. A TON of them. Good taste, good spice, but why so much? Ease up Totally willing to review after a future visit.

A friend of mine who usually has great taste in food recommended this place. We went to it and I was really underwhelmed. The only redeeming quality was that it was really affordable. The pad thai was overly sweet, and the ambiance of the restaurant is kind of lacking as it’s in a basement and looks like it was decorated in the 70s. I think I recall a weird funk going on as well.

Best pad Thai in the city and the price is right! Add the tofu for an extra $ 1, it’s deep fried, crispy and totally worth it! Sometimes the service is slow but the food is worth it.

Prices are decent for Canada but the food isn’t that great. I do enjoy the vegetable pad Thai with added tofu though. I have gone back a few times for this. And the beer is decently priced again for Canada. So in summary if you find yourself trapped in Windsor you’ll find there aren’t exactly a lot options for dining out so you might as well try this place as its the only one i’ve actually gone back to(but don’t bother with other dishes!) Be aware that it is down a creepy looking staircase but its perfectly fine once you get down to the restaurant itself.

I’m still working to match Basil Court up here in Ottawa — this was very easily our favourite Thai place in Windsor. When you first enter the restaurant you may think to yourself«What have I gotten myself into?» as you head down the glass staircase to the restaurant, which is below street level? But press on — it’s worth it! Once you get in here the place is pretty big and could easily accomodate a crowd. We’ve been here for date nights and with groups as large as twenty people and everything has always been good. Our favourite dishes are the Thai spring rolls, pad thai(so good), yellow curry chicken, green curry shrimp… and actually, everything. This place is so good. The reviewer who says when you move away from Windsor all you can think about if you think«Thai» is Basil Court is spot on.

When you move away from Windsor all you can think about when you think about Thai is Basil Court. Ask anyone who’s a born and bred Windsorite and whose moved away from the city and they’ll tell you: there just ain’t nothing like it. A typical conversation will go like this: Speaker 1: «I’m hungry.» Speaker 2: «Me too. Let’s do Thai!» Speaker 1: «Mmm. Where should we go?» Speaker 2: «I don’t know»(thinks) «Ugh. I wish there was a Basil Court here!» Speaker 1: «Ohhh! That Pad Thai!» Speaker 2: «That tofu!» Speaker 1: «How it’s all spongy but not soggy!» Speaker 1&2: «Mmmmmm» Normally I don’t like Pad Thai. I mean, why settle for Pad Thai when there are so many other delicious options? But Basil Court does it right. Their curry eggplant is also delicious! Miss you, Basil Court.
