Being from Silicon Valley area in California and exposed to amazing restaurants… this restaurant was top notch. I came into town for my nephew’s high school graduation dinner and had the privilege of experiencing their upstairs private dining room with a private bar, restroom, and fireplace to really polish off the sophisticated ambiance. There banquet menu selections and quality of food were excellent. I started with Potato Leek Soup, Wild Mushroom Gnocchi, New York Strip Loin(I tried), and finally ended with the Fresh Baked Apple Gallette dessert. Growing up close to the wine country(Napa & Sonoma), I absolutely love my fine wines. What I loved about this dinner was the pairing of wine selections that we experienced for each course… it truly enhanced the meal!!! On a final note, the service was over the top. I say this because the staff made you feel like you were family(extremely nice and very attentive). I highly recommend this restaurant for family events, corporate events, and/or just great dinning!

We are very disappointed in the food. The service was incredible so I gave a star. We ordered 2 Rib-eyes, some appetizers, and a seafood dish. Nothing spectacular at all. It was way over priced so we thought it should be better than our home cooked grilling but to be frank & honest — - nothing spectacular. Will never go back again

To follow up on my experience, I called the restaurant to complain about the extra glass of wine on my bill. They asked how the rest of the dining experience was which gave me the opportunity to explain about the steaks prep and quality and the forgetful service. They have invited us back to the restaurant and have refunded my steak and the glass of wine that we never ordered. As a White Rock business person, I like to support our local businesses and, since this was my 1st negative experience there, we will give it another try. Kudos and one more star for making things right, By the way, the tempura bacon and fish cake appetizers were yummy and the lobster mac & cheese was rich and creamy.

Very very good. Some places a little closer to the beach are way busier than here. The food, service and décor are great. I highly recommend it for couples. Me and my girlfriend went here last Wednesday and had a great. She loved her mushroom gnocchi and I had the Yorkshire pudding. I can’t wait to come back and try the steak.

Love to treat myself here at times. The ambiance is casual and chic! I enjoy the filet mignon with a lot of mushrooms, potato’s and veggies :) it is about $ 100 for two people and yummy!

Just awful… Server was nice though. Worst prime rib I’ve ever had, much better when I make it at home. I’m no food snob and I take half the blame for not demanding it be comped but I ate maybe 25 percent of it and left. My wife’s steak was mediocre at best… I’ve never left a review on anything ever, but I’m still steaming because it was supposed to be a nice night out for a change as we have a toddler at home. Skip it. The keg is way better or hit up McDonald’s. Seriously. So bad. What a waste of a night.

I don’t normally do this but it needs to be said. This was actually a FB post my good friend put up and I had to share it since I’ve had a similar experience. And I remembered when that location was Italian Village Restaurant(my mother was the head chef there and it was real home cookin’ Italian. «Culprit — Onyx Restaurant What the sh*t was that grease laden appetizer you put us through. I could wring the grease out that soggy tempura battered garbage. Both of the mains(skirt steak and salmon filets) were overdone by 3 steps and smaller than a fleck of shart on me arsehole. And what’s with the cr*p gnocchi — Jesus, we both got the trots! And about that shite dessert. That should have NEVER left the kitchen. What a crock. Rant over.»

I went here for a nice dinner out… what a mistake. We had to ask for our drinks more then once plus our food took an hour to get out. The portion sizes of the sides are embarrassing. A tiny little scoop of gnocchi!!! What a joke. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody. White rock is full of good restaurants, choose a different one.

Waste of time and money. I was looking forward to trying this place, what with the review saying«move over Keg», but I was sorely disappointed. Fortunately my companion’s, whose birthday it was, said her filet was ‘really good’, in fact ‘better than the Keg’s’, so all as not lost. I had a taste for Prime Rib but apparently they only serve it Fri, Sat and Sun. First disappointment. Then I looked for my next ‘go to’ steakhouse item, a Ribeye. Nope. Only a $ 38(16oz) Rib Steak. And that is $ 38 for the steak alone. If I wanted a baked potato and/or veggies, it was extra, like $ 8, $ 9 extra! However I figured it was allegedly a superior piece of meat — a Black Angus(which is supposed to be superior to AAA grade), so just order the steak and be done with it. Thankfully I also ordered a ‘side Caesar salad’, which was very nice, but at $ 9 it should be. I say ‘thankfully’ as not only was there a 50 minute wait on a very quiet Monday night, it was for a steak barely 1″ thick,(if that), that was so very tough I didn’t even try to finish it. When the server came over to ask how everything was, I told her that it was super tough and all I got back in return was«oh, I’m sorry». No offer to exchange for something else, nothing. I then asked for some steak sauce and was told they don’t have any but they had ‘a variety of glazes at an additional charge’. Needless to say, I declined. Next came dessert. I must admit after the above, I shouldn’t have expected anything but when you go to the Keg for someone’s birthday dinner, they offer you a free dessert. I thought they might bring a candle in a cupcake or something here but all she got was a «Happy Birthday»! So — per another reviewers recommendation, I ordered the Crème Brûlée Trio. What a joke. It was three little cups filled with chocolate, vanilla and custard(?) PUDDINGS, topped with the Crème Brûlée fired glaze. I gave up after that. This very simple dinner — no appetizer, a salad and steak and a filet plus the abysmal Crème Brûlées and a mediocre bottle of wine came to over $ 180 including tip — for two people. And took two hours. Steer clear is all I can say.

One of our fave places — both locations are great but we’re a bit partial to White Rock, since we lived close by to it. Great food, amazing service, good wines — casual yet classy. A definite«must try» in White Rock.

Had the prawn cocktail and the seafood linguini and considering that this was a steak&seafood restaurant I expected a little more. My prawns were not deveined and I could taste and chew the intestinal grit and my pasta was tasteless and as far as I could tell, was missing the«west coast wild sockeye» and instead was spiked w muddy tasting trout. Our service staff seemed overwhelmed and disordered despite the restaurant having over a week to prepare for our larger party. Oh, and they didn’t have enough prime rib for our party. :(

Service was awesome. The waitress suggested a wine to pair with our dinner(salmon with gnocchi &veg) and it was great. Dinner was very good –gnocchi came in a creamy corn sauce — sounded interesting but turned out to be very good. Very friendly staff and great tasting food. Food did take a little longer than normal but the taste made up for it.

Prime Rib and Ribeye steak were both exquisitely prepared and who thought that Brussel sprouts could be a star … But they are! Worthwhile.

My wife and I went on a Monday night. It was quiet but the service was«relaxed». We both ordered the hanger steak, with yam fries and grilled veg to share. The food was good, although the steak was more on the rare side than medium rare as advertised. For desert, the strangest apple gallette I’ve ever had. Looked like half a tennis ball covered in pastry: the apple was far too green/undercooked. The ice cream was good though. Really liked the wine: Church & State merlot. I must say that I was disappointed with this restaurant, especially sincwe friends had highly recommended it. Also, seems overpriced for what we got. Still, the ambiance was nice, and we had a good time getting out of the house.

Nice little place. Fresh dollar oysters on Wednesdays. My husband liked his wings. Delicious Caesars! Was pretty dead for dinner time, but nice if you want somewhere quiet. Staff was pleasant.

Loved it! I ordered the prime rib with potatoes. Everything was so flavourful. One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Puts the Keg to shame!

my wife and I celebrated out 10 year anniversary tonight. I was very impressed with the quality of food and décor of this small cozy lounge. I highly recommend the crab cakes, signature onion rings, and the crème brule trio
