First time visiting this restaurant, and would not go back. Ordered take-out: the Tom Yum Goong soup and Beef with Oyster Sauce. The soup was totally bland, even though it was supposed to be spicy. The beef was also bland, and the take-out container it came in was only half full.

We are always going to this restaurant for takeout. Their Penang curry and crab rice is amazing. I’m not mad keen on their Pad Thai, but we’ve had other dishes that are good. We’ve been inside the restaurant a couple of times and it it’s a little shabby and lacks ambiance. It always seems empty when I go to pick up food. It’s a bit of a waste to be honest as it has a central location with a large community of restaurant going locals and tourists. Don’t get me wrong, we go there all the time for takeout, so don’t be too quick to pass, but there are certainly nicer places to enjoy a night out.

Have been coming here semi-regularly for about 10 years. Always great tasting food and courteous service at reasonable prices. Never had a bad experience ever! We’ve introduced friends & family to Leela Thai and they all love it too. It’s where we come when we need a special treat for our taste buds. Good location, hope Leela never moves out of this area.

Ordered from here for the first time. Food was good. the all veg dish we ordered was over cooked… but the flavors were excellent. A couple fresh pieces of broccoli or something would have made it excellent! Otherwise, all the dished were yummy. Will order again.

The Pad Thai and Mango Sticky Rice are delicious. That’s all there is to say about that. This place is great to come, eat, and have some good conversations with friends. Open seating and Thai music… It’s nice and easy to relax here.

Excellent clean and relaxed atmosphere. Food was hot, arrived quickly and had distinctly different flavours. Would definitely go again. Worth checking out for sure. Yum

Great Thai place in South Surrey! We take out at least once a month from Leela Thai and it is always excellent. The Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, Pad Prik King are staples for us! Restaurant itself is very quiet and somewhat dated — the atmosphere is still very nice, staff are kind and knowledgeable about the dishes. 100% Recommended.

I went to this place with my girlfriend and she found an insect in the food and she didnt want to eat it anymore. So, we talked to the waiter about it and he apologized. When he brought the bill, they charged us the normal price without any discount. We asked if they were charging the full amount and he said he would talk to his manager, when he came back with a new bill they only took off 10% off her order. This is ridiculous, she only ate a few bites and couldn’t eat anymore after finding the insect. Most places would give a 50% discount or not charge at all. We have been here a few times and the food is normally quite good, but we won’t be returning after this experience.

The food was good but they really need to clean the seat covers on the chairs. They have an outdoor patio which was not in use(it is the season) because the ‘doors were too hard to open’.

Really bad service. At a family event of ten at the restaurant, we waited an hour-and-a-half for our meals to arrive. Then three out of ten meals arrived. The rest didn’t. Server said, «We are out of prawns. Would you like to order something else?» I asked if it would take another hour-and-a-half for this new order to arrive. Seven sat, starving, as three people enjoyed their meals. What a wreck. «The worst dining experience ever,» said a family friend at the meal.

I honestly don’t know why there are such good reviews for this place. Years ago-maybe five plus years-I got take away from this place and it was wonderful but tonight was a different story. I had the red curry and it was the worst thai curry I’ve ever had. The spices tasted stale and the bamboo shoots tasted off. The woman at the table next to me had to send back a dish because the broccoli was so old parts of it were yellow. Anyone know if this place has recently gone under new management and or ownership?

For South Surrey this Thai restaurant is pretty good. I have definitely had better but in a pinch Leela Thai will do. This is for sure a local favorite and the mainly positive reviews are what drew me in to try Leela shortly after moving to South Surrey. Like I said, not my favorite Thai in the lower mainland but because it’s so close to home and consistent I have ordered take out many times. The Pad Thai is decent. The sauce is very mild and could maybe use a tiny bit more flavor but the portion sizes are great and overall the dish satisfies. I have never dined in here, only takeout, but the inside of the restaurant is nice and decorated in accordance with the theme of the cuisine. Not a bad spot at all to try. Especially if you’re wanting to stick more with the South Surrey area this is a fairly safe bet for Thai.

Best Thai south of the Fraser! Great flavours, intense heat, attentive service, reasonably priced and portioned, decent atmosphere. Definitely a winner! Only one thing I noted that was a little off was everything was served with a mix of red, and green peppers. Could be some more veggies in the mix – unless it was just a coincidence that everything we ordered was supposed to come that way. We’ll definitely be back.

Outstanding food. Every other Thai food place pales in comparison for me. My favs are the Pad King, Sacks of Gold, and Cashew Chicken. I really like the atmosphere. Everything is very clean and well kept, and the staff is polite and attentive. Be sure to top off with a Deep Fried Banana and home made cocoanut ice cream.

We went with a couple of friends the other night. My wife and I had walked by a number of times, and figure it was about time we tried it. We had a Thai restaurant in New Hampshire we loved, so now every Thai place we try is measured against that one(Thai Garden, in Keene, NH). We were very happy here at Leela. It was very tasty. I had a seafood dish, my wife had Pad Thai(and I had her leftovers today). My seafood dish was fantastic. The fish, calamari, and prawns were perfectly cooked, the sauce it was cooked in was delicious. The only thing I was disappointed about was not ordering a side of rice(and I was a little surprised the waitress didn’t offer it). My wife’s Pad Thai was delicious as well. She got it with chicken instead of prawns, and tofu. I’m generally not a tofu lover, but I really enjoyed it(even today as leftovers) as part of the Pad Thai. The service was pretty decent. The staff was friendly. It was very reasonably priced. I’m looking forward to checking out their buffet coming up here in a few weeks!

Leela Thai is a local favorite, and with the scarcity of cultural cuisine in White Rock, it’s not hard to see why. Just kitty corner from White Rock Elementary, this ethnic eatery has been filling the void in this town that is otherwise overpopulated with subpar beach fare for well over a decade. I came here for a dinner date with my sister one night, and we were lucky enough to have our pick of tables and the restaurant to ourselves for the most part. The décor is traditional, and our server was pleasant and friendly. We began with spring rolls and chicken satay to share, and both of us were very satisfied with our appetizers. The spring rolls were perfect, chicken well cooked and juicy, and the peanut sauce was some of the best I’ve had, and I’ve certainly had my fair share of peanut sauce in my lifetime. For main course, we again ordered two entrees to share between us. Unfortunately, the main meal did not live up to the standards we had after such a delicious first course. My sister picked the pad thai as her choice, and although it was tasty, it had an overwhelming amount of beansprouts and not an incredible amount of flavor. I ordered«gang mussa-mun gai», which is chicken with pineapple, potatoes, and peanuts in a yellow mussa-mun curry sauce. I personally enjoyed this dish the most, but it is extremely spicy. Overall, the dinner was passable and tasty enough. Dessert hit the nail right on the head with one of my personal favorite sweet dishes, deep fried banana with a scoop of coconut icecream. Take something I love and deep fry it, how could I say no? A slightly bumpy first experience, but I would definitely consider dining here again.

Back when we lived in White Rock, we would eat here pretty much weekly. Its our favourite thai place. Now that we are further away, we still mark our calendars for their yearly buffet. In celebration of the Thai New Year, Leela Thai hosts an all you can eat buffet. We are sure to make reservations for this special 4 day event. We are never disappointed. Its a chance to get to sample several thai dishes instead of the usual 2 or 3 that we order at a time. My favourite is their yellow curry with potatoes and pineapple. Their pad thai is our favourite anywhere, as well as the Mee Krob crunchy noodles. I also love the thai dessert with jackfruit and jellies inside a sweet coconut milk. Caveat: Thai food does not bother me if I choose my dishes carefully. Depending on the chef, some dishes may contain soy sauce or other traces of wheat. feel free to check out my blog

this place had some authenticity award. Sorry folks. this is not very authentic Thai restaurant. Very expensive and the food was just«ok» before you say anything, Yes I have been to Thailand a number of times and my wife is Thai — she does not cook quite a few Thai dishes because she refuses to cook with out the proper ingredients The unfortunate thing about Thai food is that it is very hard to cook authentic Thai food here. You simply cannot get the ingredients here. they will almost have a western flare on them. I love Thai food and you some restaurants come very close — but this one is not one of them. I will 100% not be going back. Just too expensive for what you get.

Leela Thai is a White Rock staple. I’ve ordered takeout many times and the food has always been consistent, fresh and delicious. Tonight my husband and I decided to eat in. The service and food was great and so was the price. We got a homemade coconut ice-cream to go and I have to say it is the best coconut ice-cream I’ve ever had. If you’re in White Rock and craving some Thai food then this place is a must.
