Harry Toulch Vision

Being able to see clearly is a wonderful thing. Getting great service, awesome glasses, a quick turnaround time, and a super price? Even better.
After years of seeing things a bit fuzzier than I’d like, I decided to make an appointment with Toulch Vision. When I arrived, I was whisked rather curtly through a series of machines by a no-​nonsense assistant who didn’t really explain what was going on – the least enjoyable part of the exam. Then, I got to meet Mike Toulch (son of the eponymous Harry, I presume?), and got to hear about the fascinating astigmatism that he suspected I had.
Half an hour, a dozen eye charts, and some really pleasant conversation later, I had a prescription for the glasses that would make the scales fall from my eyes. Huzzah! Mike had to run, but I stuck around with the curt assistant and decided on a pair of frames from the sale wall. Lots of good options, and one that was absolutely perfect for me.
I asked about getting the prescription to take with me, but because the doctor had left, it wasn’t signed. They also refused to provide my Pupil Distance measurement, which I respect, but am still minorly annoyed by, as the assistant made it out to be an issue of obeying the law («we’re not legally allowed to do that»), when I believe it to be more an issue of business practice. Whatever.
They also offered to have me come back and check the prescription after a couple of weeks, to make sure that it was working out. I’ll take them up on it, and look into getting some sunglasses made too.
Exam, frames, and lenses set me back $ 230. And they were ready to pick up (at their St. Laurent location) in a couple of hours. Color me impressed, as someone who never had glasses before but is now rocking some sweet tortoise-​shell frames and has a new focus on life!
