A real find off the beaten path. An historic house set in a beautiful garden setting in the middle of an upscale Victoria, BC, Canada neighborhood. An afternoon tea of pure flavor served by Mur… a real Vancouver Island historian. Prepared from scratch on sight… Three tiers of assorted excellent tea sandwiches and petite baked delights with a touch of unique sweet desserts to finish a perfect fall afternoon.

An amazing, peaceful, and relaxing garden. Not only can you have delicious tea/baked goods here, but there is also a small garden that you can walk through. This tea house is nestled in a suburban area, and is conveniently located right next to the Number 7 bus. Easy to get from downtown to the tea garden. The«afternoon tea» was delicious, and quite filling. The baked goods tasted fresh. The«House Blend(Abkhazi)» tea was delicious especially with the milk. And the smell and taste of the freshly baked scones and pastries resonated throughout the building. Service was attentive, knowledgeable, and kind.

Wife and I had elevenses with tea. The tea was good and the food also. However we were a little disappointed that the options were fixed. We would rather have chosen just a simple tart or cake chosen from a cake trolley. Consequently for us it was overpriced. This took the tea house charm away. Entry to the gardens was advertised as donation. But there was a written expectation as to what this should be. $ 10 was a bit steep considering the value received at the Butchart Gardens.

We enjoyed Sunday tea at Abkhazi, and were grateful for the laid-back and friendly atmosphere. Having two boys that are well-behaved but still a bit twitchy, I think this tea was familiar enough to them(we have a local tea garden in our home town that they love) to put them at their ease, and we enjoyed the smaller«Elevenses» tea as a late-morning snack. We strolled the pretty gardens afterward, and found it a lovely way to pass morning into afternoon. If you are looking for a casual and friendly tea, this is a great bet.

This Tea house is adorable! Quite lovely, from the Tea to the delicious sandwiches and pastries. It’s kind of off the beaten path, but well worth it. A stroll through the garden afterwards was an exquisite way to top off a day of tea. We took lots of different pictures out in the garden, that we will treasure forever. Even purchased some tea before we left because it was delicious. Definitely recommend this place over a lot of the other expensive tourist traps!

After some very sad experiences at other tea houses, my sisters and I were wary to try another luncheon tea– however I am pleased to say the the Teahouse at Abkhazi renewed our love for teatime! First, the teahouse is clean and well appointed in a beautiful garden. The service was handled by a polite young man, who didn’t hoover, but had excellent suggestions and information. Now for the main event: the food was AMAZING! They offered a good array of sweets vs savory– our favorite thing was the mini crème brulees and the current scones– delicious! They also accommodated a sister who was a vegetarian. Overall our experience was fantastic and I highly recommend the Teahouse as a fantastic, wiser and tasty option to other popular teahouses in the city.

We came here after we had a very sad experience at the Butchart Garden, where we originally planned to have afternoon tea but found out they were fully booked with tour groups… So this place felt like an angel for us. Service was great as well as their pastries and tea. It’s also great they have an option for less food portion as you may not be too hungry after lunch but still wanna enjoy the afternoon tea. Their garden was also very large and beautiful while it’s actually free(but donation is welcomed). Highly recommended place to visit in Victoria. *Parking could be a lil headache as they don’t have any parking space but street.

I was a little hesitant to come here because I live by Unilocal reviews, and I couldn’t understand why this place had less than a handful of reviews. Well we took a shot and weren’t disappointed. This place is lovely for afternoon tea! The gardens are beautiful and you can have your tea overlooking them. I think they have outdoor seating if the weather permits. They have two options for tea — a larger one and a smaller one. We thought the larger one would be fine, but it was actually quite large! The smaller one may have been just enough, because the scone alone is wonderfully filling(and you get two of them!) — the jam and clotted cream make it worth the calories! You also get afternoon tea sandwiches(quite large compared to what I’ve seen in other afternoon teas), quiche, mini ham croissant, plus pastries(mini crème brûlée, raisin puff pastry, cookies) — I’m so sad we couldn’t finish it all! For $ 25 its really such a good value. We had a very leisurely afternoon and stayed past closing time, but they we’re not rushing us out at all. We didn’t even know we closed the place down! The service was excellent and the history of the gardens is a really sweet story. Wish we could have stayed to explore the gardens more but our taxi came too soon. I would come back if I was in Victoria again.

Very civilized. Food was comparable in quantity and quality to afternnon tea at empress for less than half the price($ 25 here). The gardens are small but beautiful. Short cab ride from downtown or on the number 7 bus.

Tea service at Abkhazi Garden should be on your list of afternoon tea venues in Victoria! Not only do you get a quality selection of tea pastries at less than half the price of the Empress Hotel, but you can enjoy the beauty of a garden residence built by a Russian princess with ties to China. Thanks to the Land Conservancy, this Garden retains the love Princess Abkhazi put into her life’s last residence. Her Royal Abkhazi tea blend is accurately described in the menu. As someone who appreciates straight teas but not many tea blends, I can say she had a nice palate in picking what teas to blend. When I was there, a local family who lived just a couple of blocks away was also enjoying tea. A great contributor to the arts of gardening, afternoon tea, and the surrounding neighborhood. Go there as a side trip from the Scenic Marine Drive.
