Best Vietnamese restaurant in the city, by far. Have never been disappointed with anything. Great family run restaurant.

I really wanted to like this spot! The owner seemed super sweet but the phở was honestly bland! The other writer was dead on saying that he needed to add soy. I ordered the medium rare spicy beef phở which was somehow not spicy and still bland. The beef was chewy, a lower quality cut. I can’t speak for the other dishes, but I much prefer the phở at Green Leaf or Phở Ever! +I paid $ 2 for extra vegetables and only got a couple pieces of celery and cabbage. Phở Ever normally gives me zucchini, Carott, spinach, mushrooms and pepper for this price.

Very tasty! 2nd time I’ve been here. Try the Vermacelli with pork, shrimp, & egg roll. Big enough to share!

So disappointed. I dropped in for lunch since blue fox was packed out the door as usual and because I’ve developed such a taste for phở in the last year. The interior looked nice and the staff members seemed like the type of people who really care. I was encouraged by the«best Vietnamese restaurant in Victoria 2009» award on the wall. I was a little surprised at how short the lunch menu was. I was seriously disappointed by the limited phở options as well, maybe 6 offerings with no flank, fatty flank, brisket, meatballs, tendon or tripe in sight, what gives? Also every single phở offering was over $ 10 and they were equivalent in size to a nearby competitors regular size phở(not large) which runs at least $ 2 cheaper and comes with with more options. My phở was English named«tasty broth with shrimp and pork», sounded great, ordered one up. It arrived and one of the 3 shrimp in the bowl(I was surprised at only 3 shrimp as well for $ 11.70) had both a hair on it and half the poop shoot still blatantly hanging out of it, yuck. I was in a rush so I only asked for the single shrimp to be replaced, not the whole bowl of phở. I finally dug into the bowl, still optimistic, i took a few bites… where’s the flavour? where’s the taste? why is this so unbelievably bland? I added hot sauce and hoisin, still nothing, virtually no flavour coming out of this bowl. I did the unthinkable, something I’ve never even considered doing to phở before, I salted it, it still was too bland for me. Half way through the bowl I couldn’t eat any more. I gave up, paid at the counter and left, at no point did anyone inquire how the meal was. I really hope that this was just an off day, I will return to give them another chance, but if I’m met with another bowl of warm dish water, I’ll be downgrading them to one star.

Came for lunch, it was busy, but not packed. Very reasonable prices, good service, and good food.

When I first tried this place, it was a little hole in the wall next to the Odeon on Yates. It looked like the kind of place that might be kind of sketchy, or might be a total treasure, and it ended up being the best example of the latter. Run/owned by the tiniest, smiliest, awesomest lady ever, Saigon Night closed a few years ago and eventually reopened(thank god) on Fort, a couple of doors up from Quadra. The food is excellent quality and really reasonably priced — You can get a giant lunch for 8 bucks, and dinner for 12. Some of the really popular dishes are rice vermicelli with chili lime sauce, BBQ pork and pieces of deep-fried spring roll, with carrot and lettuce and bean sprout. These are delicious. But my very favourite has to be the Banh Tam with thick noodles. Auuuugh SOGOOD. It’s udon noodles with BBQ pork, chili lime sauce, carrot, and bean sprouts, in a thick coconut milk sauce. Add some of the red stuff/sriracha(not too much!) and it’s edible erotica in a bowl. I also love their house made orange juice, their salad rolls, and their Vietnamese coffee(which turns me into a hummingbird. The only downsides I can think of are that you might want to get there early, since it’s popular now, and they give plastic chopsticks, which I find crazy slippery. But really, I’ve never had a less than entirely happy-sigh worthy experience there.
