I have walked past the store many times, never gone inside. I love all the birds but I live in a strata complex and have 2 balcony’s — but I have 2 cats who spend time on the balcony’s. 2 – 3 days ago there was a young crow in the courtyard. It seemed he/she left the nest a bit to soon, it still had white down on it’s head. I called Wild Birds Unlimited, I was concerned I would be talked down to(a lot of people don’t like crows). I talked to Mark who gave me informed, helpful advice including all possibilities(e.g. if other crows are still around — leave it), if the crow seems to be in stress and weakening, take a box and lift the bird in — if it lets you do that it needs help. He told me that if I had it in the box I could take it to the emergency vet(a few kilometres away), they would care for it overnight and there would be a pickup by a sanctuary the next morning. It seems the baby was seen in a tree next day, possibly he made it. The same day a young neighbour found a crow under a bush, she had been watching over it to protect it. I gave the rescue information given to me by Mark. She waited until the crows went to bed? and had very little trouble picking him up and taking him to the 24 hour vet. It’s a small thing to many people. Personally, I’m happy about how many people care. Susan Meszaros

I came here with my girlfriend who owns a bird to get some cage accessories. The store is well organized and there are tons of items. Customer service is okay.

I would not go back to this store. I bought mason bees that did not hatch. After repeated emails and phone calls, the owner of the store did not even bother to respond. I didn’t find the staff particularly helpful. I’ll drive back to the Langley WBU Store. The new owner there is helpful, polite and informed.

I remember this store from when it used to be on Oak street and it had been a while since I’d been back. We were in the market for a hummingbird feeder after seeing friends having hummingbirds visit their feeder in the winter time. Great advice and since the one we decided on was not in stock but at their other location, they had it at this location for us within a couple of days. So do our birds a favour and yourself and check out this great little shop that has a very tasteful offering of products and gift items too.

I feed the birds on my balcony and, like many things, it has become a lot more involved than I originally planned. I like to give these guys the best! Bird metabolism races at Nascar speed, ya know! At first I bought a 20-pound bag of mix from the grocery store, but I am a bird fan, and wanted them to have better than the generic hodge-podge of cheap seeds and forty-year old peanuts. I was curious what Wild Birds Unlimited on Oak St. had to offer. What they have is a knowledgeable & friendly staff(it looks like a family-run business), plus a neatly organized, fresh variety of seeds and grains and other eatables that will keep your feathered visitors all revved up like little kids in a candy store(just replace«candy» with«nutritionally balanced bird food.») They can help you cater to birds’ whims whether you are just filling up your small balcony feeder, or trying to turn your back yard into an inviting wild bird habitat. On site, they pre-package fresh seeds in recycled milk jugs(you can bring the jug back for a refill, or your deposit back). They also have a variety of their seeds in bulk bins so you can make your own custom mix. Helpfully, there are posters and charts about what sort of bird likes what sort of seed. For the apartment dwellers or neat freaks amoung you, there is also a pre-husked«No Mess Mix» chock full of goodies like peeled millet, sunflower, and nuts. Plus they have all sorts of feeders, and treats like«bark butter», and nature/bird-themed gifts(music boxes, chimes and the like). Definitely worth checking out if you are looking to cultivate an interest in the variety of species we have fluttering around the city. I walked out of there with a $ 25 supply of seeds that has lasted me several months(almost time to restock!) Not much price difference from what I paid for a big bag of generic, zero-food-value crap seed from the grocery store.
