Awesome experience. I’ve been here 4 times and every time they have me in stitches. Buy online, it’ll get you a drink with your ticket. The weekend team has got me laughing more than any other day. Wicked first date experience.

So much fun!!! An amazing cast of super talented improv actors who WILL make you laugh! Giveaways happening a couple of times during the show(make sure you follow them on twitter!) and yes, you can drink booze in the theatre(we were there on a Friday night and were given the green light). You can use your ticket stub to get a discounted rate on the next show of the night, which is already reasonably priced to begin with. Audience participation is never putting you on the spot(for those who are shy) and is on a volunteer basis only. The only reason my rating isn’t 5 stars is because I’m a tiny bit hard of hearing, and it would have been nice if the actors were wearing a mic, rather than yelling over a sometimes noisy(but in a good way!) crowd. Don’t get me wrong, they’re really great at projecting their voices — I just happen to have a slight issue with my hearing. Besides that, I’m definitely going back.

My boyfriend and I came here for the Improv After Dark show and the performers absolutely killed it. We’ve been to quite a few comedy shows in Los Angeles /Seattle and felt that the one we watched here made it to our top 3 favorite improv shows of all time. Notes: + Tickets are around $ 12 a person + There is free parking everywhere since no one is on Granville Island at 10pm + The entertainers are experienced, creative, and FUNNY + Come at least 15 minutes early to get your ticket, grab a drink, and get seated + The theatre is lovely– very well designed with tables at the front and movie theatre-like chairs behind

Went here for one of their Improv After Dark shows, which is an hour long, and had a blast. The improvisers performing for that night were hilarious and almost had me in tears. One of my favourite games they played was called«My sex is like _» where they ask the audience to fill in that blank. Then the improvisers try to justify why their sex is like that. If that didn’t make sense, perhaps you should see one of their shows *wink wink*. If you want to get away from a typical night in Vancouver, this would make for a great night out with friends. Fun fact: Colin Mochrie from«Whose Line Is It Anyways?» used to do improv here! So you know it’s good.

I laughed so much that my face hurt. Buy your tickets online ahead of time and you can pick the up at the door. Also their only ticket system gives you the ability to pick exactly where you want to sit. We got 4 tickets at a table right up front in the middle, and that was a great experience. I have been to Vancouver Theater Sports many times and have never had a bad time.

TheatreSports has become a stable of my entertainment life in Vancouver and pretty much the standard I use to compare most live comedy shows to now. Over the years, I’ve been to several TheatreSports shows. Every show I’ve attended has made me laugh out loud. My favourite is their annual Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre tournament where they bring in improv teams from various cities to compete against each other. Their special events can sell out so booking on line seems to be the way to go as their box office has limited office hours. The venue is a small theatre located on Granville Island. Parking can be difficult to find on Granville Island during the day but the TheatreSports shows are in the evening when a lot of the other businesses on the island are closed. As long as there aren’t any other major events going on at the same time, you’ll be able to find a spot. An added bonus, parking is free throughout the island after 7pm.

I’ve been here twice now: once for the improv show Throne and Games and once for Rookie Night. I was a bit nervous to see Throne and Games as I haven’t seen Game of Thrones(I know, I know. It’s on my list of shows I need to watch). I was afraid I wouldn’t get most of the jokes and the evening might not be enjoyable. Some friends wanted to go though, so I gave it a shot. I’m very glad I did! The show was very funny, and although there were a couple things here and there I didn’t get(due to never seeing Game of Thrones), I was still able to enjoy the show. The actors were fantastic and kept the audience laughing. During intermission, my friends and I got to take a picture on the Throne! How cool is that? Since I had such a good experience with Throne and Games, I decided to try out Rookie Night(the cheaper tickets were a plus too). I didn’t laugh the whole night, but I still had a great time. My friend and I even got to go up on stage and be part of the show which added to the enjoyment — and authenticity — of it! I also really like that when you purchase your tickets online you get to reserve your seats. That means you don’t have to show up early to get the best spot in the house! Although, the bar and outside deck is a great reason to get there a bit earlier. Friday and Saturday night tickets can be a bit pricey(especially after tax and that online booking fee) but if you see the 11:15pm show instead(which is a half hour shorter) you save $ 8! I definitely recommend Vancouver TheatreSports for a fun night out!

We were only in Vancouver for a week and went back for more after our first night. In one week we saw 4 shows because they were so funny. We see a good bit of improv and these people are very good for a local theatre!

Amazing! This is my first improv show and I had THE best time! We didn’t have anything planned today so I went online and came across The Improv Center and bought 2 tickets for the 9:30 show which also came with 2 $ 6.00 drink vouchers for $ 59. Totally worth it and the show last for 1 ½ hours. Be sure to get there about 30 minutes early so you can enjoy a cocktail on the deck! At about 9:20 they opened the doors to the theatre and slowly everyone started to trickle in. The show started promptly at 9:30. The host was awesome! She keeps the players and audience involved. She’s super high energy and full of confidence. The players are HILARIOUS! They had the entire audience cracking up the entire time!!! If you’re on the fence about seeing a show do yourself a favor and buy multiple tickets because you’ll want to come back!

Online ticket sales close 90mins before the show. We are instructed to call the box office to get tickets. When I click«call the box office» button on the website, it gives me information about the business, but no phone number at all. I had to dig around to find their phone number, and when I did it was just an automated message service. Why oh why do you instruct customers to call the box office when there is no possible way in the heavens that we can contact the box office? Shall I skytrain and bus down to Granville Island so I can ask at the box office just to find out if there are tickets available? Or maybe you can have someone answer the damn phone during your hours of operation. One star, fix your bloody website. Gah.

Been here more times than I can count. My wife and I came here as a dating couple, came here as an engaged couple, and now we come here as a married one! Just a great place for a start, middle, or end to a night. The improvisers are hilarious professionals who do their best to make sure everyone has a fun time. Cheap(ish) drinks and awesome entertainment… what else could you ask for? Thanks for years of good times and more to come guys!

Canadians love improve… they think ‘who’s line is it anyway’ is the pinnacle of comedy hence their obsession with it. After 1994 people in the uk started thinking its a bit crap really… but not here clearly. So if you are like me who think clowns have never been funny, or sitting through a police academy movie is akin to Chinese water torture, then you may want to give this a wide berth. On my only visit, I had a chat with this fella who worked there, who was pleasant enough. But as I was leaving he pulled out 2 free tickets to another improv night… now that is funny!

Great quality entertainment! Nothing makes me happier than going to a show at The Improv Centre!!! The cast members are rad, bartenders are fast and friendly(tip them well!!) and the manager is personable and approachable. If you purchase your tix online you can look forward to selecting your seat or you can reserve a cocktail table for you and your friends! Once they have your email address they will NOT bombard your inbox… rather you will receive the monthly newsletter, new show notifications and best of all last minute discounted ticket offers!!! These emails usually go out a couple days before the show and combine a drink with a show ticket at a cheaper price. If you have never gone to a show go check one out. Good times await you!

Improv comedy at its finest. I’ve been to many improv shows and would have to say on record, this ranked in the top 5. so far. Improv shows are like a box of chocolates, you just don’t know what you’re going to get. Since each improv actor has it’s own unique talents, the humor varies. Some are very funny, while some are good actors. On occasion you’ll get a few that have a combination of both. The Sunday show that we attended, overall was very funny and entertaining. Most of the improv actors were able to hold their own. The objective of the Sunday show was for each actor to score the most points based on audience vote. The actors with the most votes moved onto the next round until there is finally one man or women standing. The reward for winning, a whopping $ 5 Canadian dollars. The skits are randomly chosen by the host or by the actors themselves. Some skits involving audience participation. Prices for the shows ranges, but generally around $ 10. There is no drink minimum like normal comedy clubs.

Granville Island is pretty awesome to just wander around, but this is the true hidden gem of the area. I went here way back in February when I visited Vancouver and was immediately excited to see that improv heavyweights Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie were among The Improv Centre’s alumni. The theatre itself was intimate(as an improv theatre should be) and comfortable. The theme during my visit was a battle of sorts between improv teams from different cities in North America. I absolutely loved watching western Canadian teams going up against French Canadian teams, and U.S. teams coming in with their entirely U.S. sort of attitude and style. The cultural and stylistic differences made for absolutely awesome comedy.

They offer variety of seating… booth, theatre style and tables. All of which are good. It is a small theatre so regardless of what you choose it is a great view. Drinks are reasonably priced. And tickets and are available on their website(along with a calendar of events). If you like improve… definitely check this place out. Its can make for a good date night too.

I came here for another Valentine Day show and it did not disappoint. It was as funny as ever. This yearly tournament is not to be missed. Every year they bring in a great set of teams from around the world and set them head to head against each other in an Improv war. The last team standing wins. The concept is simple, but the results are spectacular. Next time this comes around, get tickets and enjoy the laughs.

Fun! Improv! at a new location within Granville Island-A brand new 190-theatre within a space. We came here Saturday night for their TheatreSports improv show. The show starts at 10pm, tickets are $ 19. The place is licensed, and they have a bar serving beers and mixed drinks. This place is so new that it still smells like paint. There are 2 teams of 3 people, in which they go through a series of rounds and in the end, the one with the most points wins. They base their ‘skits’ by accepting ideas and suggestions, and then they do some on the spot thinking, and improvisation begins. Some were hilarious, some were just ok. Overall, it was great laughs. It’s amazing what these actors can think up on the spot. There’s also a later show, for an extra $ 5, which is then a 2 on 2 improv team, and apparently, that one has no rules, so it can get even more interesting? For $ 19, I thought it was a little pricey for what I got. Shows on the weekdays and tickets on Thursdays are half price. Would definitely go back then!
