Had some referral credits to use up on buytopia and saw this place $ 5 for $ 10 for breakfast. fastfood. While Unilocaling to see if i should bother buying the voucher, saw Samantha C’s post about getting unfries for free using«mobile mandit»(this should actually be Mobile Bandit, thanks for sharing Samantha!) Anyhow, decided to grab lunch from Ufood. Restaurant is quite spacious and modern looking. It has lots of smaller tables. Ordered the Chopstick Chicken based on the cashier’s recommendations about it being one of his favourites. Wholegrain brown rice, with some steamed/blanched broccoli, some sliced(fairly moist) chicken, some julienne carrots and then the Thai Sweet Chili sauced poured on top. Not bad, but wouldn’t make my favourites list! But gotta remember it’s healthy for you! Got the free unfries. They reminded me of Costco french fries in terms of texture(kind of batter-y) and flavour(seasoned), but a baked version instead. The fries i got were ok. They weren’t piping hot, just luke warm. A bit too salty in my opinion… but free so shouldn’t complain! =) I had initially thought of trying their soup which was chicken gumbo. The cashier offered to give me a sample. Not bad, fairly thick, but once again pretty salty. would I come back? May give it a try one last time and try something else? menu can be found here

Whats not to love about ufood grill, they have a such a wide selection of food, its hard to choose sometimes. Where to start, The burgers are GREAT, from the turkey chipotle burger to the free range grass fed bison, Oh so lean and tasty. I have a thing for the chipotle chicken wrap its godly. Don’t even get me started on the bbq steak tips, juicy and flavorful yeah more please. Depending on what you get, most things are under 10 dollars, while the entrée’s are around 12 before tax.

This place is not bad — I suppose I came on a good day in comparison to Marc D. Husband and I sampled a few random things from this place a few nights ago. — it’s clean, it’s nice, the staff is friendly — the food is decent — the portions are okay, for the price We ordered the chicken curry masala and the chicken tinga($ 7 each). and then we also split a classic burger. the chicken tinga was nice, had a great spice to it, but the curry was much more flavourful. The burger was actually pretty good too, but a bit overpriced at 5.50(for no fries) — it’s sort of on the plain side. Overall, it was decent, and husband said he wouldn’t mind giving it a second go. He’s had the froyo here before and really liked it too.

I have been here twice. The first time the food tasted ok. The problem was that I ordered some chicken dish(curry maybe?) I was told it was gluten-free. I immediately had my typical gluten reaction. The staff was not very knowledgeable about what was gluten free on the menu and had to ask a few other staff members. This should have been my clue to walk away but then I figured, maybe they are new and need to ask the cook. No problem. Better to ask then shrug and guess. The second time, I just went with the frozen yoghurt and fruit. It was good. I’m not daredevil Celiac who enjoys the occasional intestinal disruption so, I wouldn’t try any meals here again but everything looks fresh and clean. Can’t go wrong with a smoothie and a fresh salad.

Been here 3 times. First had the chicken margarita panini and unfries both were goood! Loved the sundried tomatoes and cheese. The fries are baked but crispy and delicious. The second time I used mobile Mandit and online coupon app to get a free order of unfries no purchase required! Just free fries and the third time I tried uberry frozen yogurt half vanilla half berry and it was sooooo good used mobile bandit and got that free as well. The service is really good all the time! I recommend it! For the bad review I would def give them another chance! :-)

* Just wrong * I passed by this spot that had all sorts of signs touting their healthy fast food and decided to pop in. I ordered a roast beef sandwich from their menu, and trusted that it would be a healthy choice since that is how they are touting themselves. I got a few slices of beef with chunks of white fat on the edges on a rather flavourless piece of «naan»(I use the term loosely), with some under ripe tomato slices, a few wilted greens, and some gloopy mustard based sauce. So in addition to the unappetizing white fat on the roast beef, which I wouldn’t expect for a «healthy» place, the sandwich was unbelievably salty. I mean over the top salty. Crazy salty. I was thinking there is no way this is a healthy sandwich, but they claim it is, so it must be, no? Not a good sandwich, and didn’t feel healthy at all. Photo: After the experience I was curious about what they claim to be the nutritional breakdown on these sandwiches so I visited their website. I found they certainly have consistent branding as on their website they continue to tout the healthy aspect of the food with this quote, «UFood Grill is where delicious meets nutritious, because we offer better-for-you food, fast. We know what you want… healthy comfort food… And it’s great to know you can choose from a wide variety of menu items that include vegetarian, reduced sodium and fat, gluten free, low calorie and low carb options.» They even have a quote saying, «Please enjoy our great tasting, unguilty food. fast.» Sounds pretty darned healthy, right? Well, looking further, I found their nutritional breakdown. The roast beef sandwich is listed as having 1680 mg of sodium. You read that right. 1680mg! That explains why it tasted so damned salty! Just as a comparison I checked out McDonalds nutrition guide and found that a Big Mac has«only» 1020 mg. What about calories? The roast beef sandwich is listed as 490 calories. A Big Mac 540. What about carbs? The roast beef has 46g of carbs. A Big Mac 44g. Seriously? Wow. Not that I’m a huge fan of Big Macs, but I have to say they taste better than this Roast Beef«healthy» sandwich and actually sound healthier to me! Crazy!!! So I delved more into the menu comparisons as this was intriguing. UFood lists its«Better Bacon Cheeseburger» as having 640 calories, 1715mg of sodium, and 60 grams of carbs. So just to make that clear — it has more calories, sodium, and carbs than a Big Mac. Seriously. Let’s take off the bacon and just look at a «regular» cheeseburger at UFood. 567 calories, 1302mg of sodium, and 60 grams of carbs. Again more than the 540 calories, 1020mg of sodium, and 44 grams of carbs for a Big Mac. Ridiculous. Well, what about french fries? They are marketing their«Unfries» healthy fries. Let’s see how those compare. Unfries are listed as having 230 calories, 600 mg of sodium, and 33g of carbs. McDonalds fries? 220 calories, 170 mg of sodium, 30g of carbs. Um… Hello? OK, so what about saturated fat? They must be better on that, right? Um… No. «Better Bacon Cheeseburger» 12g of saturated fat. Big Mac 10g. «Unfries» 2g saturated fat. McDonalds fries 1.5g. This is just so wrong. Just wrong!

If you like fast food but not the guilt that comes with, a place that dubs itself as «delicious meets nutritious» is for you. To get into our pre-dance class state of mind, my friends & I made a pit stop for dinner here aka THE1st Canadian outpost of this US franchise! Nutritious HOW? — Menu runs the gamut from wraps, salads, burgers to power smoothies & yogurt. — Calorie counters would embrace that 2nd set of digits listed beside the prices. — Frying is forbidden. Think steam, grill or bake. — magic phrases: grass-fed & lean meats. fresh & organic produce. whole wheat & light everything. Delicious MUCH? Based on what we had: Cheeseburger($ 6.39) — 100% USDA beef + tomato + lettuce + pickles + light American cheese on whole wheat bun — verdict: solid burger. Nothing mind blowing. Buffalo Bleu Chicken Wrap($ 6.99): — chicken + lettuce + tomatoes + light blue cheese buffalo sauce — verdict: heavy on the veg components, stingy on the chicken slices. Satisfying enough. Baked Chicken Fingers w/Unfries & fountain drink($ 6.99): — I ordered this after verifying there’s no age limit for the kids’ menu. Ha, no shame! — verdict: juicy chicken, the baked UnFries were well-seasoned & surprisingly tasty. Service: The cashier confused my order of chicken fingers for grilled cheese. But this was promptly fixed & they threw in a complimentary yogurt(aka Uberry) for the mix-up. Space: — streamlined décor with counter seating & plenty of tables for couples or groups. — free WIFI! The value is standard for Downtown but… in my world, all burgers should come with sides!
