U2 Night 2

This review is more of a love letter to the fan club members I grew up with and less about the show itself, however, there were similar parallels from the night before with the exception of a few
things that made tonight’s show better on many levels:
1. The band were energetic and into it.
2. There was a bit of a set list change for the better.
3. The set list had a nice flow.
4. Bono was more comfortable in his own skin having shaked the opening night jitters (playing mostly to the media and less to fans).
5. It was Friday night and everyone was ready to party.
6. They had a full night’s sleep.
7. Opening night they were fiddling with the sound mix a bit. Tonight they had the mix nailed down and refined.
8. The Edge figured out where/​how to walk.
It was a fight to get into second night compared to the first. My best friend and I really had to bid our way in. Neither of us have ever had this much trouble getting into a U2 show before including Madison Square Gardens and The Rose Bowl in LA. Our seats weren’t great, however, they provided memories and a vantage point that is often missed and washed away by the desperation of some needing to get onto the floor. Lots of fake tickets were in circulation outside from scalpers neither of have seen before. We paid more than we wanted, more than either of us could afford at the moment, however, there are only a few bands we would do this for and U2 is one of them.
Our seats gave us a chance to look down at the sea of GA fans, many familiar faces and plenty of new faces that I’ve had the privilege of meeting for the first time and have collected their friendships in my heart. In fact when the show was over and I said my good-​byes I felt the heartbreak inside. I really didn’t want this to be another 10 years before I would see them again. It’s one thing to read each other’s Facebook posts and another to be face to face in the same room. It reminded me of how much my heart really treasures those human connections.
Where we sat we weren’t surrounded by hard core U2 fans. Some were annoyed at my over enthused set list reactions. In fact someone took a rather hateful message on Twitter as how they were «Annoyed at the energy and enthusiasm of the Macphisto character in front of them.» How often do you see a U2 fan dressed as Macphisto under the age of 40 know ALL the lyrics to the songs including the new material by heart? U2 spent 5 weeks rehearsing the new material, I spent 5 months memorizing the lyrics to the new songs. Yes I was overly energetic to the point of distraction but you can’t take the passion out of me. I paid a lot to get in tonight, more than I’ve ever paid second hand for a show and I was going to make every second count.
Personal show highlights for me:
1. The fan made signs in the GA pit that made me smile: Stage Diver, Please Fall Here, Beware of the Edge (with the Edge falling off stage) and Please Fall Here.
2. Hearing the best version of Bad performed.
3. Very strong performance of Raised by Wolves.
4. Angel of Harlem and When Love Comes to Town, two songs that were on my live bucket list that were knocked off tonight. Special thanks to BB King for making sure U2 played a deep cut on this tour.
5. Going home with sore shoulders and neck due to holding a sign in the air for 20 minutes continuously that read, «Human TelePrompTer/​Lemon.» Same sign as last night, however, made more of an effort to get it noticed the second time around in hopes of hearing even a lyric or two of Lemon embedded somewhere. I was hoping that they would at least infuse a few lines of Lemon which has a lyric about Bono’s mother that would’ve been perfect during Iris.
