This is my first time attending a tree lighting ceremony. It’s a cheap must do tradition. Cheap as in free and must do as in… what is Christmas without a tree lighting ceremony. It was less about the trees being lit up and more about sharing the moment with a good friend. In this case it was my awesome girlfriend Peta whom I shared the moment with. Even though we were both cold, we still had a great time catching up and talking with each other. Thankfully it wasn’t raining as orginally planned. Few things that they could’ve done better. 1. Have port a potties. The public washroom was a 20 minute walk on the other side of the sea wall. Due to my bladder I had to negotiate to use the bathroom at the Cactus Club. 2. They should’ve informed the audience of the definite time of the tree lighting. Not even the volunteers had any idea. 3. More booths that weren’t sponsored related. 4. The stage entertainment was awful. I’ve been to elementary school pageants that had a better performance. I felt really bad for the teenage boy doing a really bad version of Whitney Huston’s «I Wanna Dance With Somebody.» It was really painful for me to hear. I did get a pair of foam bear ears in promotion of the new Pad. Bear movie, however, lost it somewhere during the ceremony. I was sad about that.
